Helmar USA & Lawn Fawn Week!

May 30, 2011

Hi there!!  I know...I have had a lot of posts going on in the past few days!  It always seems as though I have a ton of stuff going on at the same time!  SO...if you are looking for my latest WPlus9 release post, either scroll down one post, or CLICK HERE

This week Lawn Fawn is partnering with Helmar USA (an adhesive manufacturer)!  There will be fun projects on the two blogs all week long, along with some fun giveaways!  So, be sure to check out both blogs all week long to find out what you can win, and to be inspired by all the amazing projects!!

For my card, I mostly used the Helmar Permanent Adhesive Runner.  I used it to glue all papers, ribbons & trims to the card front.  I also did a bit of machine stitching on my card, and the great thing about this adhesive is that it didn't gum up or hurt the needle in my machine at all.  That is really great!  I also used a white Zapdot to help my stamped tag keep its dimension from the glittered chipboard frame.

I used Viva la Verve! May 2011 sketch #2 to help with the design of my card.  I used the CR84FN30 colors (light blue, light yellow, kraft) and The Shabby Tea Room #54 (2 patterned papers, 4 buttons, & 6 layers).  You might be thinking, "I only see 3 buttons."  There are only 3 physical buttons...but if you look very closely at the right side of the vintage baby image...the ribbon is looped with a button- and that is what I am considering my 4th button!  Tee hee!  I hope that isn't cheating...a 4th physical button just didn't really work for me!
"It's A Boy" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (kraft, vintage cream)
Paper: Webster's Pages (Lullaby Lane 6x6 pad)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Sophie's Sentiments & Bows and Holly sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: dune, robin's egg, frost white) & Tim Holtz (Distress Ink: antique linen)
Ink Blending Tool: Tim Holtz
Doily: Wilton
Ribbon: Renaissance by Design
Twine: May Arts
Buttons/Lace: craft supply
Pins: Making Memories (yellow) & Maya Road (clear)
Vintage Image: Crafty Secrets
Chipboard: Tattered Angels
Glitter: DecoArt
Sandpaper
Sewing Machine/Thread

Instructions:  Fold kraft cardstock in half to make card base, and ink the edges.  Sand the edges of two paper blocks, layer together, and adhere lace trim at the bottom seam.  Zig-zag stitch along both seams, and then adhere the entire block to the card front.  Distress Ink the white doily in antique linen using an ink blending tool, and then adhere it to the front.  Tie ribbon over top of the doily, and attach a button to the middle of the bow using twine.  Cover a chipboard frame in glitter, and then adhere the vintage image to the bottom of it.  Adhere the entire frame to the card front, and then accent below it with two buttons & twine.  Stamp the tag & sentiment to vintage cream cardstock, and then tuck it under the button on the bow and adhere.  Add two stick pins coming from the top of the bow to finish.

I hope that you've enjoyed the card I created for Helmar USA & Lawn Fawn week!!  Enjoy your Monday!  ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea L.

WPlus9 June 2011 Release Day 3: Pile It On

May 29, 2011

Hi there, everyone!!  So, have you been enjoying the WPlus9 June 2011 release so far?  Are you thinking about all the wondrous things you will be able to do with the new set, "Pile It On"?  I think it has been such a fun release so far, and I love checking out what all the other designers do on their cards!  It just goes to show that the same stamp set will never look the same because everyone's styles are so different!

For tonight's card, I used the banner dies that match the stamp set, and then stamped the ice cream cone inside each one for some color and pattern.  I then diecut a tag (using a non WPlus9 steel die), and added a fabulous sentiment from the Pile It On set.  This set went just perfectly with the carnival theme collection from Glitz Design called "Afternoon Muse".

I used the Viva la Verve! May 2011 Week 5 sketch to help with the design of my card.  I also created it for Crazy 4 Challenges #89, which is to create a card showing a favorite vacation spot or summer activity.  Well, I don't know about you....but I LOVE going to the fair every summer!  And last but not least...I created this as a sample for the Get Your Glitz On Challenge #2: Clustering.  There are only a couple more days left to enter a project in for the challenge, but the winner will get the entire Afternoon Muse collection sent to them!!  So, if you've got some Glitz goodies and some time...check out the challenge and get to creating!!
"HB2 You" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (orange) & Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper/Diecut/Stickers/Jewels: Glitz Design (Afternoon Muse: Floral, Banner)
Stamps: WPlus9 (Pile It On)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: pink, mango tango, canary, frost white)
Twine: May Arts
Pin: Maya Road
Flower: Recollections
Ruffle: craft supply
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Steel Dies: WPlus9 (Pile It On dies) & My Favorite Things (Notched Tags)
Sandpaper

Instructions:  Fold orange cardstock in half to make card base, and ink the edges.  Sand the edges of two paper blocks, and layer together to the card front.  Sand the edges of a vintage image diecut and a cardstock sticker, and layer to the front at opposite angles.  Adhere a yellow ruffle over top of the seam.  Layer together the rhinestone stickers, and tuck a cardstock ticket sticker to the right side of it.  Stick a pin through the left side of the sticker cluster, and then adhere to the card front.  Accent with a large pink jewels, and a strip of small clear jewels.  Diecut the pennants and the tag from vintage cream cardstock, and then stamp them.  Thread them with twine, and adhere to the upper left corner of the card.  Tie two bows from the twine, and accent each end of the banner with them.  Add a clear jewel to the left bow, and an orange paper flower to the right one to finish.

Don't forget to leave a comment on the WPlus9 blog on each release day, because Dawn will be drawing three random comments who will win "Pile it On"!

And be sure to check out what the rest of the amazing WPlus9 designers have created as well...I know I can't wait!!

WPlus9 June 2011 Release Day 2: Pile It On

May 28, 2011

Hi there everyone!!  Welcome to day 2 of the WPlus9 June 2011 release of the latest set called "Pile It On"!  Yesterday I went completely clean & simple for you...showcasing the matching dies for this set, and how you can use them with felt.  Today I have created a card that is on the shabby chic side, and completely different from the card I created yesterday.  This set can work for any and all card styles out there, and I love that about it!

I used the Viva la Verve! May 2011 sketch #4 to help with the design of my card, swapping out the oval for a rectangle.  I also used CR84FN29 (light plum, plum, kraft) for my card, although I am a little late on it, and it won't get to be added to the link list.  Nevertheless, the color combo was perfect for what I wanted!  And lastly, it also fits Just Add Ink #69, to use fussy cutting (which I did on the butterfly accent).  Here is what I created!!
"Best Wishes, Today and Always" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: Webster's Pages (Seaside Retreat & Nature's Storybook 6x6 pad)
Stamps: WPlus9 (Pile It On & Filigreed Frames sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: lilac, eggplant, chestnut & Chalk: creamy brown)
Chipboard: Tattered Angels
Ribbon: Renaissance by Design
Lace: vintage craft supply
Flowers: Recollections
Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Glitter: DecoArt

Instructions:  Fold vintage cream cardstock in half to make card base, and ink the edges.  Cut eggplant paper slightly smaller, ink the edges, and adhere to the card front.  Ink the edges of a violet paper block, layer on top, and then adhere lace around the middle.  Stamp the sentiment to the lower left corner of the violet block.  Ink the edges of a parchment paper block, and then stamp the cake to it.  Accent the cake with pearls, and adhere the stamped block to the card.  Frame the cake with a chipboard piece, add a purple dotted bow to the lower right corner and accent the middle of it with paper flowers.  Fussy cut a butterfly from patterned paper, adhere to the opposite corner, and accent the middle with pearls.  Cover chipboard photo corners with glitter, and adhere to opposite corners.  Accent each one with a purple jewel to finish.

Did you notice that I combined this set with another WPlus9 stamp set?  The sentiments that come with Pile It On are super cute, but I needed something a bit more elegant.  So, I combined the cake layers from Pile It On with sentiments from Filigreed Frames...and they went together perfectly!  When I was creating this, my initial meaning for it was as a wedding card.  Looking at it, it could also be an elegant birthday card.  I know all the women in my family would love to receive it, as well as people I know that are getting married.  I just love when you create something that has many purposes!!

Don't forget to leave a comment on the WPlus9 blog on each release day, because Dawn will be drawing three random comments who will win "Pile it On"!

And be sure to check out what the rest of the amazing WPlus9 designers have created as well...I know I can't wait!!

Thank You So Much

May 24, 2011

Happy Tuesday, everyone.  I hope that your morning is going well so far, and that you have a wonderful day!

Today I have my card for CPS Sketch #219 to share with you, which is also one of my Stamper's Dream cards for the month.  The sketch is a great one for all you label/tag die fanatics out there....like me!  I also used the latest Embellish Tags Color Trends Challenge for my card.  This is an amazing color combo, and I just love how my card turned out for it.  I did not use a hanging tag for my card, but utilized the multiple label cuts as my tag option.  Here is what I created:
 "Thank You So Much" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: Webster's Pages (Life's Portrait 6x6 paper pad)
Stamps: JustRite Stampers (Kindness & You're So Sweet sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: antique pewter) & Tsukineko (Versamagic: sea breeze)
Ribbon: Michael's brand
Trim: craft supply
Flowers: Recollections
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Steel Dies: Spellbinders (Labels Twenty & Parisian Accents)

Instructions:  Fold vintage cream cardstock in half to make card base.  Cut blue paper slightly smaller, then adhere a pink paper block to the front of it.  Add crocheted trim to the bottom of the pink block, then zig zag stitch around the entire it.  Adhere this entire piece to the front of the card.  Stamp the label design & sentiment to vintage cream cardstock, then diecut each one with the proper dies.  Adhere the sea breeze label to the front of the card.  Pleat gray ribbon as shown, and adhere to the middle of the label.  Adhere the sentiment tag to the top of it, and then accent with pearls.  Accent with paper flowers to finish.

I just love how this card turned out!!  And I love the fact that I used up some older Webster's Pages papers.  I adore Webster's, and it seems I hoard it a bit.  I definitely need to stop that, so I am making myself break it out and use it...because that is what it is there for!

I hope that you have a great day today, and that the sun is shining and you are surrounded in warmth.  ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea L.

You're Sweet

May 22, 2011

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Today I have a cute little mini card to share with you.  It measures 3"x4 1/2", and was another idea I had during Lawn Fawn release week!  I didn't have time to get a second card done for my post, but finally had a chance to get it created!!

I {very loosely} used Cardabilities Sketch #31 to help with the design of the card.  I also created this for CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #3: Bring on the Bling, and for Totally Hues Challenge #7 (lemon tart, sweet blush, berry sorbet, spring moss).  Here is what I created:
"You're Sweet" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (yellow, pink) & Papertrey Ink (vintage cream, kraft)
Paper: My Mind's Eye (Mary Mary: Berry Preserves)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Admit One set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: old rose, chestnut)
Twine: The Twinery
Flower: Recollections
Jewels: Heidi Swapp
Corner Rounder: Creative Memories
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Steel Die: WPlus9 (Label Layers 1)
Instructions:  Fold yellow cardstock in half to make card base.  Round the top corners of a cream cardstock block, tie twine around the top, and adhere to the front.  Adhere the pink dotted label cut to the left side of the card, and cut off the excess.  Add the square of jewels over top of it.  Stamp the tickets to cream cardstock, cut out, and layer together inside the jeweled square & dotted label.  Stamp the cotton candy to kraft & pink cardstock, then cut out.  Glitter the pink section, layer together, and adhere to the card.  Add a yellow paper flower to the ticket corner to finish.

This is just going to be a quick post, because I need to get going for now.  Have a wonderful rest of your day. ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea L.

Wee Memories Challenge #57

May 21, 2011

Happy Saturday, everyone!!  Today is my third week as a guest designer for Wee Memories Challenges!!  Today's challenge #56 is called "Stamp It"...and you guessed it- it is all about stamping!!

This week's challenge is being sponsored by Market Street Stamps.  I don't actually have any stamps by this company, so I decided to use one of my older Papertrey Ink sets!  Here is what I came up with:
"Thank You" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (white & kraft)
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Paper Frill: Doodlebug Designs
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Through the Trees set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: dune, robin's egg, chestnut) & Tsukineko (Chalk: pixie)
Jewels: Kaiser Craft

Instructions:  Will be added later...

The pink stamped leaves just remind me of how much I love all the pink trees that are finally in bloom around here.  It is nice that spring is finally starting to set in here in Montana...considering it is almost June.  Tee hee!  Have a great day! ♥♥♥

Until later,

Hey there, everyone!!  Tonight we are sharing with you the set that is my very favorite from this inspiration week, "Cruising Through Life".  You are going to just love the fun and whimsical images & sentiments in this set!!  It is fabulous!

I used CardPatterns Sketch #115 to help out with the design of my card, and I just flipped the banner to the other side to make it work for me!  I also created this for this week's Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger: Some Royal Fun, where I was inspired by the fun banner flags & the pink/blue color combo...I just happened to add in a bit of yellow to mine. I also created this for Lawnscaping Challenge #10, to use polka dots.  Here is my card!

WPlus9 Color Cue #15

May 14, 2011

Hey there, everyone!  Two posts on a Saturday...crazy huh!  Well, my blog runs on Mountain time and this just kind-of happens when you have posts that need to run at midnight Eastern time.  Tee hee!

Tonight marks the latest WPlus9 Color Cue challenge #15.  Without further ado, here is the color graphic:
Aren't these super fun colors?!  I love this one, and it was actually really fun to add the little bit of yellow into my card.  It might seem a little intimidating, but I do suggest you try it out!  You might just LOVE what you come up with!

I used The Sweet Shop Sketch #108 to help out with the design, flipping it on its side so it would work for me.  I also created it for CAS-ual Fridays Challenge #2 to use buttons & twine.  This is an almost brand new CAS challenge blog, and it looks like it is going to be a lot of fun!!  Here is what I created!
"Congrats" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (kraft)
Paper: My Mind's Eye (Mary Mary: Berry Preserves & Whirlybird: Perfect Plaid)
Stamps/Die: WPlus9 (Filigreed Frames & Label Layers 1)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: frost white, magenta) & Tsukineko (Versafine: onyx black)
Ribbon: American Crafts (rose) & Renaissance by Design (yellow)
Twine: Darice Inc.
Buttons: Papertrey Ink (blue) & craft supply (yellow)
Flower: Recollections
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold kraft cardstock in half to make card base.  Layer together the dotted & plaid paper blocks, then diecut the label from the center.  Lay the piece on the card front, stamp the label outline so it fits inside the diecut window, and then stamp the sentiment in the middle of it.  Adhere rose ribbon along the top of diecut window.  Tie a bow from yellow ribbon, adhere a blue button to the middle using twine, and adhere to the middle of the rose ribbon.  Adhere the entire block to the front of the card using foam adhesive.  Thread two yellow buttons with twine, then adhere along with a blue flower in a cluster to the lower left corner.

Make sure you check out what the other WPlus9 girl's have come up with!  It is sure to be delightful!!

One random participant will be drawn to win a free WPlus9 stamp set, and then three honorable mentions will be shown as well in the winner's post!  So, be sure to head on over and participate!  We can't wait to see what you come up with!! ♥♥♥

Until later,

You're Invited to a Vintage Game Party!!

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Well...I am posting this in hopes that all of the Blogger issues are resolved.  Yikes...you never know how much you miss your blog and blogging until it is all screwed up?!  I definitely tried to not get too annoyed, as Blogger provides this service for free...but it was definitely hard!! I think they are still getting some bugs worked out, as I am missing some comments and such- but I have faith that it will all get restored.

Today is my second Saturday of joining in at Wee Memories as a guest designer!  Today's Challenge #56 is to use stickers on your project, and is being sponsored by SRM Stickers.  I don't have any stickers of that brand, so I utilized the amazing Glitzer stickers that Glitz Design's creates for every collection.  Love them!!

Speaking of Glitz Design, I also created this as a sample for the monthly challenge that we have going on.  Did you know that Glitz Design has a monthly blog challenge now?  We just started last month, and it was a big hit!  This month the "Get Your Glitz On" challenge #2 is to create a project of any sort (layout, card, altered item, etc...) using the technique of clustering.  You can find all of the details & challenge rules in THIS POST, and I hope that you will play along with us as well!!

I used the Viva la Verve! May Week 1 sketch to help out with the design- I just happened to flip it and turn the oval into a rectangle.  I also created this for PTI's Make It Monday #14: selective inking.  Erin did a great little video on how she selectively inks her stamps.  I do it a little bit differently, and actually add a strip of tape over top of the area that I don't want inked.  That way I just pull off the tape, and don't run the risk of smudging the area I do want inked up with a baby wipe...because I tend to be a little, well- uncoordinated with that.  Tee hee!  The sentiment on my little flag accent is all in one stamp, and the smaller lettering on the bottom is actually longer than what is shown.  So I selectively inked in order to use two different ink colors, but also to keep part of the sentiment from stamping at all.  Here is the card I created!
"You're Invited" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper/Diecuts/Stickers/Transparency/Jewels: Glitz Design (Love Games collection)
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Simple Sentiments set)
Ink: Tsukineko (Versafine: onyx black) & Clearsnap (Pigment: scarlet)
Ribbon: Renaissance by Design
Pins: Making Memories (green) & Maya Road (clear)
Twine: Darice Inc.
Flower: Recollections

Instructions:  Fold red cardstock in half to make card base.  Trim the paper layer slightly smaller than the card, and then adhere.  Layer the diecut and transparency to the front of the card.  Fold the ribbon as shown, and adhere to the middle of the card.  Adhere the red Glitzer sticker to vellum, cut out, and layer to a card diecut.  Adhere the entire piece to the front of the card using foam adhesive.  Adhere the two banner Glitzer stickers to vellum, cut out, and adhere across the bottom of the card diecut.  Stamp the sentiment to a paper strip, and then cut a banner shaped end.  Adhere around a clear topped pin, and then layer over top of the two banners already in place.  Add three red jewels below the sentiment strip.  Tie a bow from twine, adhere it to the pin and then accent the middle with a yellow flower.  Cut a portion of the bottom of a green topped pin, and then add it in, next to the clear topped pin to finish.

Wouldn't this be a fun invitation for a vintage game themed party, or something of the like?!  I just love it!!  The Whatnot's from the "Love Games" collection are probably my favorites from all the different lines...they are so fun and colorful!  I am also glad that I thought to use these PTI stamps...as I purchased them and have never used them.  Tsk, Tsk...shame on me.  I don't like buying things and then not use them...and I LOVE these stamps.  I have just been so busy with other commitments, that my PTI stamps have been put on the back burner.  I definitely need to make some more time for them.  Tee hee! :)

Well, I better get going for now.  I hope that you have a super wonderful weekend!! ♥♥♥

Until later,

Sisters Are...

May 9, 2011

Happy Monday, my friends!!  I hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day weekend, and a good start of your week so far.  My mom happened to be celebrating her 50th birthday on Friday, and her birthday always lands in the same week as mother's day....so my dad planned a surprise birthday dinner for her at Lydia's in Butte.  Of course- me, Josh & Casey were there, and some of their dearest friends; Kent, JoAnn & Lois came as well.  It was a wonderful dinner in honor of her.  She also got some wonderful gifts- including a $75 gift certificate to Maurice's from us, an awesome new pink bike from Rob, new drinking glasses & a journal from Casey, and a Kindle from Kent & JoAnn.  I also happen to know she was spoiled by the ladies that she is close with in Sheridan...so I think it is safe to say that my mom had a wonderful 50th birthday.  Can you believe that my mama is only 50?!  I have a young, hottie for a mom....tee hee!  Love you mom! ♥

I also have a card to share with you today!  Mother's day is over, but May just seems like a great month to celebrate all the women in your life, doesn't it?  So, I created this card for Stamper's Dream using some of the latest released stamps from JustRite Stampers.  I just love this sentiment about sisters, and even though I don't have a biological sister- there are women in my life who take that place.

I also created this card for a few different challenges that struck my fancy.  First, I used CardPatterns sketch #114 to help out with the design.  I also used Color Throwdown #140 (blushing bride, early espresso, kraft/baja breeze) and Shabby Tea Room #61- "Ruffled Up" as inspiration as well!!  I don't feel like I create ruffles very well on my own, but I felt like these bloomers had the perfect ruffly feel that I needed for the card!  I hope it still fits, even though they aren't a standard ruffle. :)
"Sisters Are..." supplies:
Cardstock/Button/Scalloped Die: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: Pink Paislee (Butterfly Garden 6x6 pad)
Stamps: JustRite Stampers (Because I Care set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: seaglass, chestnut)
Ribbon: Renaissance by Design & Webster's Pages (Bloomers)
Chipboard: Tattered Angels
Pins: Maya Road
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Glitter: DecoArt
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Sandpaper

Instructions:  Fold cream cardstock in half to make card base.  Cut background paper slightly smaller, sand the edges, and adhere to the front.  Cut a scalloped strip from blue paper, and sand the edges.  Cut a striped paper strip, sand the edges, and adhere the scallop to the bottom of it.  Adhere the entire piece to the card front.  Cut two pieces of bloomers and adhere to the right side of the card.  Cover a chipboard butterfly in glitter, and then adhere over top of the bloomers.  Tie a bow from blue dotted ribbon, and add a button to the middle using twine.  Adhere to the top of the butterfly, and then accent with two heart stick pins.  Stamp the label and sentiment to a cream cardstock block, and adhere to the bottom of the butterfly.  Accent with pearls to finish.

In other news, I recently found out that I was picked for the April "Fave Find" from My Favorite Things!!  I thought that was very cool, and exciting!  You can see the card they picked in my original post HERE, and here is my fun little badge of honor!!
Well, that is everything that I have to share with you today!  I hope you have a wonderful rest of your evening!! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea L.
