Prima Christmas Tags

December 15, 2012

Wow...it has been awhile! Sorry for my absence...I have just been busy with the holidays and such!  I had a fun date night with J last night, which was nice after such a horrific day of watching the news.  We had a light dinner & drinks at Finn & Porter, then went to The Nutcracker.  The ballet was so sweet, and all the little ones in it were fantastic....and while I had fun, it also made me think of the innocent 20 children who will no longer be able to be in a ballet or little league, and it makes me think of the hundreds of others who have lost their innocence, their feeling of safety.  This whole situation just makes my heart ache....this is happening all too often in our country.

I have a set of Prima Christmas Tags to share with you today, which were posted on the Prima Tag Blog Post earlier this month.  There were lots of inspiring tags in that post, so make sure you check them all out.  Prima makes it really easy to decorate tags & gift wrapping with all their fun flowers, trinkets & buttons.  Here is what I created!
Challenges:
-The Deconstructed Sketch #81 - Tag Sketch
-Simon Says Stamp - Favorite Things
-Cupcake Craft #222 - Merry Christmas
-Fussy & Fancy #78 - Tags & Banners
-Stamptacular Sunday #193 - Anything but a Card

I hope that you have enjoyed my fun little Christmas tags today!  These are easy to recreate, and can decorate a package or gift basket with ease.  If you enjoyed my Bible study notes that I had been sharing before, never fear.  They will return....just not until the new year, when I have more time to get the graphics ready, etc.

I hope you have a wonderful rest of your Saturday!

Until later,
~L.

WPlus9 December 2012 Group Post

December 6, 2012

Hey there, everyone!  Please pardon the tardiness of this post.   I was down for the count yesterday...I haven't felt that sick in a really LONG time.  I was nauseated, felt sick to my stomach all day...but probably the worst part was the never ending headache.  No amount of Advil would get rid of it, and my head just hurt all day long.  So- I slept most of the day, because I couldn't even imagine looking at a computer screen...let alone typing.  So- I am a day late with my group post, but hopefully you will still enjoy seeing it!

So, what did you think of this month's release from WPlus9?  I just LOVE all the amazing stamp sets & dies that Dawn created this time around...but that is always how I feel with each release, so maybe that isn't say much.  Ha!  I went all happy and fun in my color combo for this card!  Here is what I created!

5. Cut a banner edge to a white cardstock strip, then stamp the sentiment & hearts to it.
6. Adhere the banner strip to the card, accent with jewels and add a piece of washi tape to the top.
7. Diecut the hearts from patterned paper & cardstock.
8. Stamp & glitter the middle sized heart, then adhere all of them to the left of the sentiment banner.
9. Stamp the banners to white cardstock, then cut out.
10. Adhere to the left side of the chevron paper, then wrap twine around the seam.  Top with a twine bow.

Warmest Winter Wishes

November 27, 2012

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!  How was the beginning of your week?  We pulled up all the Christmas decorations, and I plan on slowly getting everything up and hopefully finished by December 1st.  So, after not working out since last Monday, I went to Oula (dance fitness) two days in a row....and I am SO sore. It's a good sore though....so I shouldn't complain.  I took today off, but will be back in the gym tomorrow & Thursday for Oula again! Yay!  Oula is only offered in a few different states right now, but if dance fitness & Top 40 music is up your alley....I suggest you learn about Oula and start asking your local gym to look into it!

I have a rustic looking winter card to share with you this evening.  I love sharing ideas on how I use non-holiday or seasonal papers for cards of those occasions, so today I combined the Glitz Design "Yours Truly" papers with some seasonal stamps from WPlus9.  Here is what I created!

Merry Little Christmas

November 25, 2012

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Did you have a good rest of your Saturday?  We watched football, and I ran to Michael's to get a couple things from their Black Friday ad.  I got some super cute ribbon that was 60% off, and some ornaments to add to my tree that were 50% off.  And,  I got the berry sprig for 70% off that is on my card today!  I didn't spend much...but got some pretty cute things for a small amount of cash!  Gotta love that!

I Love U

November 24, 2012

Happy Saturday, everyone!!  Sorry it has been a little while since my last post...it has been a busy week filled with other things than card making!  I hope that all my American readers had an awesome Thanksgiving, and that everyone has had a wonderful start to this holiday season!  We experienced the craziest thing this morning!  We were getting ready to head out, and all of a sudden we heard this loud BOOM! and our house seriously shook.  We just stared at each other for a second, then ran outside....because we were certain someone had to have run into our garage or something.  Well, we ran outside at about the same time everyone else in our neighborhood did....and none of us had any idea what happened.  This is when social media is awesome...because people started posting on Facebook, and the Missoulian posted on their page a bit after it happened that it was a planned detonation at the landfill.  Well- that planned detonation with no time & date release to the media shook the entire city of Missoula.  Might have been nice to know that was happening....

I have a soft & shabby love card to share with you today.  It is full of Prima's "Tea Thyme" collection and other Prima flowers & embellishments.  I just love how romantic and sweet this card is...the resin embellishments kind-of make me sigh a little bit.  Tee hee!  Check it out!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from vintage cream cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, sand the edges & adhere.
3. Add a resin photo corner & a bling frame to the front.
4. Back a resin frame with paper, add the sentiment to the middle, and adhere to the top of the bling frame.
5. Tie a bow from seam binding, then layer with flowers & a bottle cap trinket to the corner of the frame.
6. Add two pink flowers to the opposite corner of the frame.
7. Tuck a wooden ticket slightly under the bottom flower cluster, then accent with a gold crown to finish.

Challenges:
-The Play Date Cafe #158 - Color Inspiration
-Moxie Fab World Tuesday Trigger - Frame By Frame
-Word Art Wednesday #55 - Anything Goes/Bless Him
-Allsorts #182 - Bling
-Sweet Stampin' challenge - Flowers
-Papertake Weekly - Ribbon & Pearls

Isn't that card just plain pretty?!  I love it.  The Tea Thyme collection is my very favorite of all the collections from Summer CHA.  I cannot WAIT to see what Prima has up their sleeve for Winter CHA...so excited!!  I have some Bible study notes to share with you today, so let's get to it!

1 Peter 3:5-7
Alright....the submission thing.  So, I used to wrinkle my nose at that word.  Truthfully....sometimes I still do.  It has such a negative connotation attached to it, and has really been taken out of context by people in the church.  Submitting to my husband doesn't mean that I have no opinion, that I can't speak my mind or make known what I want.
I see it like this- I would never make a big decision without talking to my husband about it, and the same goes for him.  We talk about things, and make decisions together based on what we believe is best for our lives & situations.
Ephesians 5:25 says, "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ Jesus also loved the church and gave Himself up for her."
A husband's role model should be Christ, and if you've ever read the gospels you know that Jesus talked with and was surrounded by many women.  He never talked down to them...never exercised control over them.  He treated them as He treated everyone else....as a person with thoughts, feelings & emotions.

Until later,
~L.

November 20, 2012

Happy Tuesday evening, everyone!  I hope that you've had a good day so far.  We did a little bit of shopping today...stocking up on hand wash from Bath & Body Works, and getting the last few items needed for Thanksgiving.  Then we went to the discount matinee of Skyfall at the movie theater, and it was really great!  My new boots from Target were waiting on my doorstep when we got home...and they are SO cute!  Last week Target did an online deal of buy one pair, get one 50% off, plus free shipping on an order over $50...so I got a GREAT deal on them.  Love that!!  Plus- they were boots that aren't at my local Target...so even better!

As you can tell, I love to use lots of different Prima flowers on my cards together.  So, I typically go through all of my flowers and grab the colors that my card is centered around.  Then I just start grabbing flowers, layering and moving them around the front of my card until it looks how I want it to!  It's not a tricky process by any means, and it is SO fun to be surrounded in all that flowery goodness!  Tee hee!

I don't have any Bible study notes prepared for today, but I will hopefully have some for tomorrow (as long as I have a card ready....ha!)  I hope that you have a great rest of your evening!

Until later,
~L.

Happy Saturday, everyone!  How is your weekend going so far?  I am having an awesome one!!  Yesterday evening I watched the first Breaking Dawn on DVD with my friend Alex, and then we met a bunch of other ladies at Outback Steakhouse for appetizers before going to the late showing of Breaking Dawn Part 2!  It was an EPIC ending...if you are a Twilight fan and haven't seen it yet, you are going to LOVE it!!  Today has been pretty quiet...just watching the Griz play the Bobcats (our state rival) and hoping we can sneak a win.  It's looking a bit scary right now....

I have a sassy little love card to share with you today!  I mixed a bunch of different Paper Smooches Stamps sets together, along with the Love collection by American Crafts.  I LOVE the houndstooth background stamp that I used on the cityscape...how cool would a building be painted like this!  Tee hee!  Here is what I created!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from black cardstock, then round the right corners.
2. Cut printed kraft paper strip, and adhere to the left side.
3. Punch a border to a heart paper strip, cover in glitter & adhere to a white cardstock block.
4. Stamp the houndstooth background, then the cityscape to a white cardstock strip.
5. Color in the windows, cut out and adhere to the bottom of the white block.
6. Stamp the sentiment above the cityscape, then color in the outlined parts.
7. Stamp the stars above the cityscape, and then above the top part of the sentiment.
8. Add pearls and a red heart jewel to the card to finish.

Challenges:
-Paper Smooches SPARKS - Sketch
-Clearly Inspired #64 - Clean & Simple

May the Heart of Christmas....

November 14, 2012

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Hope that your week is going well so far!  Did you know that if you don't buy gluten-free soy sauce, it is 40-60% wheat?!  We are having Asian cuisine for group tonight, and we are bringing beef & broccoli with pad Thai noodles.  We have people in our group who are completely gluten-free, and I am allergic to wheat...so I am glad that I looked at that before we used it.  I seriously had NO idea that normal soy sauce had wheat in it...so weird.  I made a trip to the Good Food Store and picked up a couple GF things that I needed today...so I should be set for a bit!  Yay!! :)

I told you I would have a card full of product and layers to share with you, and today is the day!  I know I have done quite a few clean & simple cards lately...I just happen to like both styles!  I get the best of both worlds, since I feel like I can do both fairly well.  Today's card uses the Prima Marketing "Tea Thyme" collection, and some stamps & dies from the latest WPlus9 release.  Check it out!
 Instructions:
1. Make a 5-inch square card from vintage cream cardstock.
2. Distress ink a floral paper block, and adhere to the front.
3. Distress ink a polka dot paper strip, and adhere to the left side.
4. Distress ink a doily, and adhere to the middle.
5. Wrap pink trim & ribbon around the seam.  Tie a bow at the top, then layer with a twine double bow & pink button.
6. Diecut a tree from vintage cream cardstock, distress ink and then add Stickles & chunky glitter to it.
7. Wrap twine around it as garland, accent with pearls & adhere to the front.
8. Add three fabric flowers to the card front.
9. Diecut the banner, "love" & the snowflake, then distress ink the edges of them all.
10. Stamp the sentiment to the banner, and adhere to the front.
11. Add the diecut word directly below the sentiment banner.
12. Top the snowflake with a heart jewel, and adhere to the banner corner to finish.

Challenges:
-Flourishes challenge - Be Progressive
-The Shabby Tea Room #140 - Sweet Shabby Christmas
-There She Goes #181 - Let It Snow

-Crafty Ann's #78 - Bingo Card (gems, glitter, lace)
-Fussy & Fancy Friday #75 - Pearls & Flowers
-PaperPlay #45 - Snowflakes

This pink Christmas card just warms my heart a little bit...loving the glittery tree with pearl accents SO much.  The flowers are pretty fabulous too....  Sigh- I love Prima!!  Well, I have some Bible study notes to share with you today.  So, let's get to it!
1 Peter 2:18-25
"He committed no sin,
and no deceit was found in His mouth.
When they hurled their insults at Him,
he did not retaliate;
when he suffered,
he made no threats.
Instead, he entrusted himself to Him who judges justly."
Jesus is our ultimate example of grace in suffering.  An innocent man, he died a horrible, painful death on the cross.  I can't think of anything more awful.  Yet, He did it willingly, prayerfully....knowing the reason it had to be done.
God has never said we won't suffer.  It is just a part of life.  He has said he won't ever leave us or forsake us...and He offered up His son so we might have a path to Him.
I have gone through some hard things in the past year and a half.  Things that drudged up a lot of hurts from my past.  They aren't things I plan on sharing publicly, but during the hardest moments...God was there.  Comforting me as I cried out to him.  Being the person that I needed Him to be, when others weren't.
I didn't act with the grace that Jesus had during those times though....not in any way, shape or form.  I did retaliate verbally to the hurts.  I did threaten....not with violence, but with the only things I felt like I had control over.  I'm not proud of my reactions.  But, God knows that.  And He continually, gently reminds me that I need to be more like Jesus.  And I'm working on that...every single day.  I'm working on that.

Until later,
~L.

Everyday I'm Shufflin'

November 13, 2012

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope the start of your week has been a fabulous one!  I finished editing one of my most recent engagement sessions, and you can CLICK HERE if you would like to check it out.  We couldn't have asked for more beautiful lighting and fall colors for this shoot....it was amazing!!  I am going to have another shoot up soon....senior pictures that I did for my cousin, Rylee.  They are FAB, and I will let you know when I post a peek of those too!

Today I have another clean & simple card to share with you!  Never fear though...I have a super layered, full of product card in the works right now...and it will be posted soon!  I used these super fun stamps from the new company, Mama Elephant, for this card...and I just love how super cute it ended up!!  Mama Elephant is previewing all their new sets for November, so be sure to check out the Mama Elephant blog.  Check it out!
 Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from whtie cardstock, then round the upper left corner.
2. Stamp the people & sentiment to the middle of the card.
3. Add a strip of washi tape underneath the sentiment, then top with three jewels.
4. Stamp the hand icon to the lower right corner to finish.

Challenges:
-10 Minute Craft Dash #6 - Color/Time Challenge
-Crafty Friends #10 - Sentimental
-The Pink Elephant #174 - Punches &/or Dies
-Allsorts #180 - Young at Heart

As you can see, I did this for the 10 Minute Craft Dash.  This card took me 6 minutes, 12 seconds to finish.  I did have everything pulled out and the basic design figured out in my head...so it didn't take long to put such a simple card together.  You could substitute this out for a more common sentiment...and make this card in bulk very easily!

Well, today I am Bible Study noteless...so hopefully I will be back tomorrow with something to share with you!  I hope that you have a great rest of your Tuesday!

Until later,
~L.
