For Like Ever

May 30, 2013

Happy Thursday, friends!!  Sorry for my absence in posts this week...I've been a little busy!  I hope that you've been having a good week so far!  Josh is traveling this week, so it is just me & the puppies until tomorrow evening.

Today is the Glitz Design May blog hop, and this month we are focusing on our fabulous 8x8 & 6x6 paper pads.  Did you know that the smaller paper pads have quite a few paper designs that are not available in the 12x12 format?  They are great for layering on your layouts, and PERFECT for making cards.  Here is the card I made using the Uncharted Waters 6x6 paper pad, & other items from the collection!
Instructions:
1. Make 5-inch card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then wrap crepe paper trim around the middle.
3. Adhere the scalloped paper strip to the middle of the crepe paper, then add a circle paper strip to the bottom of it.
4. Add the journal card & diecut frame to the top of the card.
5. Tie twine around the middle in a double bow, then accent with a rhinestone.
6. Adhere the entire paper block to the front of the white card base.
7. Add the cardstock sticker to the top of the journal card using foam adhesive, then accent with a gold photo corner & tab.
8. Add the wood veneer hearts to the front, then accent each side of the journal card with washi tape bits.
9. Add sequins & pearls to the card to finish.

Of course, a blog hop isn't a hop without a list of participants...so here you go!!

Written in the Stars

May 26, 2013

Happy Sunday, everyone!!  How has your weekend been so far?  Mine has been BUSY.  I planned a surprise baby shower for my friend Meagan, so Friday & all day Saturday until party time my husband (who is so amazing for helping me shop/decorate) & I were busy getting everything ready.  While it might have been a little early for a baby shower...a move to Georgia is possible in the next month for them, and I didn't want her to leave Montana without celebrating with some friends.  I think it turned out pretty darn cute, if I say so myself...tee hee!  She was totally surprised, and even cried a little bit.  Happy tears though...happy ones! :)  Then her mom took us both to The Mustard Seed for dinner last night, and it was SO good.  It was really a very lovely day!

Today my parents are coming over to get some things done in the big city of Missoula...tee hee!  So, we are going to have out with them a bit.  Other than that...I'm not sure what else we have on our plate.  Hopefully some relaxing time!! :)

This past week, Nicole Harper asked me to create a project for one of this week's sketches on the Studio Calico blog!  I was happy to oblige, and I created a card using the card sketch!  I paired together the Atlantic & Sundrifter collections, and this is what it came to be!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Cut three strips of patterned paper, and adhere to the mid-right side of the card.
4. Adhere a vellum frame to the top, then layer a gold tab, Notes tab & circle sentiment to the top.
5. Stamp the first part of the sentiment above the vellum frame, then add letter stickers to finish the circle sentiment.
6. Add gold stars & wood veneer stars to the opposite corners of the circle.
7. Layer a glittered triangle, pink triangle & cut-out sentiment to the bottom.
8. Add three arrow stickers to the bottom right side of the vellum frame.
9. Accent the card with sequins to finish.

I hope you like my sweet little love card...I just love the colors of this, and the bits of gold glitter.  Yum!!  I haven't uploaded the photos from my camera that I took of the shower yet, but I have a couple of IG photos that I can share.
The first one is Meagan showing off the fun cupcakes I made...there is a tiny candy bar behind her that I put together as well.  And the second shot is me, Meagan & her mom, Christy.  I couldn't have pulled this off without Christy...she is the one who figured out a way to get Meagan over here at a very specific time...without any suspicion!! :)

Well, that is all I have for you today!  I hope you have a great rest of your Sunday!

Until later,
~L.

Supplies:
Cardstock:  WPlus9 (white)  |  Paper: Studio Calico (Atlantic & Sundrifter 6x6)  |  Stamps: Mama Elephant  (Starry Night)  |  Ink: Tsukineko (onyx black)  |  Other: Studio Calico (vellum frame, glittered stars, stickers, wood veneer stars, sequins, bow, printable circle/notes tab)  |  Martha Stewart Crafts (glittered photo corner)

The Perfect Day

May 23, 2013

Happy Thursday, friends!  I hope this finds you doing well, and having a great day so far!  Josh has had to drive back & forth from Spokane both yesterday & today for work.  We have a lot of friends who are Southerners, so he brought back a couple boxes of Krispy Kreme doughnuts for us all to share!  We brought them to Community Group last night, dropped some off with Grant & Meagan, then made our last stop to Alex & Holly's.  We had a KK here for about 6 months, and then it went under.  We are a pretty health conscious city, and a shop that exclusively sells doughnuts & bad coffee just isn't going to last here long.  Ha!  It's nice to get them as an occasional treat, though....because they are really good doughnuts!

So, I have two digital layouts to share with you today!  This first one is of some photos we took while on our trip to Texas this past April.  We took a couple days & drove down to Galveston to see the beach.  The weather didn't cooperate very well, but we still made the best of it....and I love these photos of the two of us.  I set everything up on the camera, then my FIL Dwight took the images for us.  I think I need to print a couple of these in a large format for our walls!  It is sequins week on the Glitz blog, and this is what I created for it!
You can find all of the Glitz Design digital product at JessicaSprague.com!

Up next is a layout that I created last week for the woodgrain theme week on the Glitz blog...I just didn't have the chance to get it up on my blog until now.  It has sequins on it too....so it still fits!!  :)  We were invited to a condo on Seeley Lake for a weekend in January by our friend Meagan's parents.  We had so much fun...and part of that fun was a snowmobiling trip we took up the mountain a bit.  It was a beautiful day, full of blue skies & just a fun time!

♥ Crazy About You

May 22, 2013

Happy Wednesday, everyone!  Hope the first part of your week has been a good one so far.  It is rainy & dismal here today...a perfect day to sit in my little craft room with a cup of tea & create the time away.  I totally forgot to mention that we went and saw the new Star Trek movie on Saturday evening with our closest friends Grant & Meagan...and it was AWESOME!  (Although the little one in her tummy wasn't too impressed with the noise.  She kept kicking her mama over our movie choice!)  It's been a quiet couple of days on the homefront, so not to much else to update you on.

I have a card up on the Glitz blog today, and this week we are all about the sequins!  Not a stretch for me...I've been using them for a few months now, and adore them!  I won an Avery Elle gift card last month, and I spent it all on some of their amazing sequins!  These sequins are smaller than my coveted Studio Calico sequins, and they mix & match really well.  Although for my card, I just used the smaller AE ones.  I have paired Glitz Design's "Hello Friend" & "Love You Madly" collections on this card, and this is how it turned out!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Cut the layered sticker in half, pull it apart & adhere the dotted bottom half to the card as shown.
4. Layer a blue cardstock sticker, film diecut & Glitzer frame to the front.
5. Add a glittered tab & cardstock title sticker to the frame, then add the top half of the layered sticker to each side.
6. Wrap twine around the middle, then top with a double bow & giant rhinestone.
7. Cut a banner from patterned paper, stamp the middle sentiment to it & arrange the banners on the bottom of the card.
8. Add the restroom person Glitzer to the title sticker, then accent the card with sequins to finish.

Challenges:
-Cardibilities #75 - sketch
-City Crafter #160 - color inspiration
-Word Art Wednesday #81 - anything goes

I'm pretty much in LOVE with the colors on this card today...makes me want to redecorate my house to match it.  Ha!  Probably not going to happen, but a girl can dream.  :)

Well, that is all I have for you today.  I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday!

Until later,
~L.

ME Stamp Highlight: Wanderlust

May 17, 2013

Happy Friday, friends!  It's almost the weekend!!!  Yay!!  I feel like we have a million things going on this weekend.  Our neighborhood has an annual garage sale every year, and Saturday is the day.  While that is going on, I have to run to my cousin's graduation lunch to celebrate with her & my family a bit...then come back to help pack up what doesn't sell at the garage sale.  Then we have to decide if we are going to another graduation party that evening, or if we are going to stay home & just veg out a bit.  Then Sunday looks like it is going to be just as busy.....definitely not a lazy weekend for the Lawson household.

Today we are showcasing another new Mama Elephant stamp set called "Wanderlust".  This is my fave stamp set from this release, and I just know that I am going to be grabbing for it quite often.  I paired it with some fave Studio Calico product, and this is what it came of it!

ME Stamp Highlight: Sunny Skies

May 16, 2013

Happy Thursday, everyone!!  How was your day yesterday?  Mine was pretty good...went to Oula, picked up some groceries, cleaned up the house for community group....stuff like that.  Community Group is small group time with members from our church, where we have a meal together & discuss the past Sunday's message in more depth & real world context.  One of the new things we are doing for food is drawing a state each week, and then finding recipes that are popular or originate in that state.  It has been really fun!! So far we have done food for Alabama, New Mexico, Missouri, & last night was Washington.  Josh made an amazing clam chowder from scratch....he took a few recipes that he read online & then concocted his own...and it was AMAZING.  I am not the biggest seafood/fish person...but I do love a good clam chowder.  Needless to say...I skipped the salmon burgers last night.  Ha!!

Yesterday's stampede starts the Mama Elephant stamp hightlight week, and today we are featuring "Sunny Skies".  This is a super fun set, and I just HAD to combine it with some more Glitz Design & some cute FREE printables from Chic Tags. Here is what I created!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Layer the fussy cut journal card to the left side.
4. Fussy cut the sunrays from woodgrain, back with yellow paper & adhere to the front.
5. Layer the circle tag to the front of it.
6. Stamp the sentiment to a yellow heart banner and adhere to the bottom of the card.
7. Stamp the clouds to white cardstock, cut out & adhere to the front as shown.
8. Add a strip of heart paper to the top of the card.
9. Add two gold arrows to the top & bottom of the card.
10. Accent the clouds on the bottom of the card with a wood veneer plane.
11. Add sequins & clear jewels to the front to finish.

Challenges:
-Simon Says Stamp and Show - 6x6 paper

May 14, 2013

Happy Tuesday, friends!!  I hope you've had a great day so far.  I was up bright & early to take Josh to the airport for a meeting in Seattle.  He'll get home about midnight tonight....nothing like a quick little jaunt across a couple states, huh?  Ha!  I ran some errands today, and created some cards for the next few days.

One of those cards happens to be this one!  I used up some Elle's Studio "You and Me" goodies, and combined them with some Lawn Fawn stamps that I either haven't used before, or haven't used in a long time!  And I couldn't finish the card without a few sequins from the Studio Calico "Atlantic" collection.  Here is what I created!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Layer the banner with two tabs to the right side of the card.
4. Wrap twine around the top and tie a double bow.
5. Stamp the convo bubble & sentiment to vellum, cut out and adhere to the right side of the banner.
6. Accent the front with jewels, sequins & a gold arrow to finish.

Challenges:
-Fusion Hypothesis #6 - sketch
-Lawnscapings #57 - bling, shimmer, glitter
-Runway Inspired #35 - photo inspiration

So, that is my card for the day!  Pretty simple, but pretty sweet too...I love all the fun products that Elle's Studio puts out.

I have one little Instagram photo to share with you today...
I took this last night after we came home from running some errands.  The sun was shining brightly through the storm clouds, and it just made everything look so beautiful out!

I hope that you have a great rest of your night!

Until later,
~L.

You Make Me Smile

May 13, 2013

Happy Monday, all!!  Did you have a great weekend & Mother's day?  I got to see my mom on Thursday when she stayed the night over here before catching a flight with her two sisters to surprise their mom for mother's day.  How fun is that?!  We went to dinner at The Mustard Seed, and it was fantastic.  I had a gluten-free dessert inspired by the Somoa girl scout cookie...and it was SO good.  So good.  Makes me want to go & get another one like, right now.  Ha!  Josh got home from Minneapolis late on Friday night, so we slept in a bit.  After getting up & going, we headed over to Helena so he could check out the Archie Bray Foundation...and it was pretty cool!  They had a mother's day event going on, so besides just purchasing some clay he wanted...we were able to check out the festivities.  It was fun!

So, I created a happy little card today using a bunch of Studio Calico product, including the printables that they offer each month.  When I purchase them, I print them out immediately so I don't forget that I have them!  They absolutely complete all the different collections for me, and even better...they come in separate digital images as well, so I can use them on my digital layouts.  :)  Here is what I created!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller.
3. Cluster the banners & circles to the card front, then stitch along the middle of the circles.
4. Clip the excess string, then adhere the entire block to the card front.
5. Adhere the tag to the front using foam adhesive, then accent the top of it with a sticker.
6. Add the other tabs & word art to the front.
7. Layer two triangles to the top of the card, then accent with stars, sequins & a jewel.
8. Add matching stars, sequins & jewel to the opposite corner to finish.

Challenges:
-Cardabilities #74 - sketch
-A Blog Named Hero #23 - glitter
-Visible Image May - brighten your day

Sigh- I love this card!  So soft & fun, and I love the ombre shading on the background paper.  That is all I have to share today in terms of crafts....but here are some of my Instagram photos from this weekend!
The top photo is the desserts that my mama & I had at our dinner together.  The next shot is my cute yorkie, Bailey, on the way home from the groomers.  Best day ever for him...all nice & clean, and getting to hang his head out the window.  And the last one is a little collage I made of our little trek over to the Archie Bray Foundation.

I hope that you have a great rest of your Monday!

Until later,
~L.

Love You to the Stars...

May 9, 2013

Happy Thursday, all!!  How has your day been so far?  Mine has been good!  Pretty quiet around here...other than when the dogs bark at something outside.  It is so nice & warm in Missoula right now, and I am just loving it!  Been sitting on my back deck a bit each day, and just enjoying it while I can.  Considering it's only May...we are bound to have another cold spell.  It would be great if we didn't...but I'm not counting my lucky stars on that one.

Speaking of stars...that is a main theme in my card today!!  I love this sentiment, and the gold glittery stars are the perfect accent for it!  I've combined Dear Lizzy "Lucky Charm" with Studio Calico's "Atlantic" on this one...and I think it turned out so sweet!  I love the soft shades of pink, and bold navy...and the vellum diecuts just make me swoon a little bit.  Here is what I made!
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Layer the banner stickers to the left side, popping the top layer with foam adhesive.
4. Add the wood veneer banner & vellum layers to it, then top with a bow & sequins.
5. Diecut the circle printable, then layer to the front.
6. Add the sentiment card to the top of it, then layer three tabs tucked under the right side.
7. Cut out the sqaure & arrow printables, then layer to left of the sentiment.
8. Add the vellum frame over top of everything, cutting away the left section of it.
9. Accent with a wood veneer, then add a jewel & sequins top of the card.
10.  Finish the card by adding two gold stars to the front.

Challenges:
-Studio Calico Sunday Sketch - sketch
-The Play Date Cafe #181 - color inspiration
-A Blog Named Hero #23 - glitter

Kind-of loving this cutie of a card right now.  It would work for mother's day.  It works for just love in general.  A girl or young woman would love to get it...lots of possibilities.  That is all I have for you today...but thought I would share a photo of this little cutie:
She was laying like that on my bed last night while I was brushing my teeth & washing my face.  And now my secret is out....I never make the bed.  Unless I'm having a party.  Ha!  I'm cool with it though...so don't judge me.  :)

Have a great rest of your day!

Until later,
~L.

I used to scrapbook.  Like, all the time.  Then I went to photography school.  And my whole outlook on photographs changed, and I became overwhelmed by the concept of paper scrapbooking.  I was never going to have enough room for years & years of scrapbooks filled with lumpy, bumpy pages.  I hated taking photographs of photographs whenever I wanted to share what I'd created.  I wanted to be able to print out a book at the end of the year that was thin, could easily fit on a bookshelf, and not take up so much room.  Not to mention...after photography school and starting up my business, I was just plain overwhelmed.

Then I started researching digital scrapbooking.  At the time...it didn't really offer what I was looking for.  I wanted to be able to create pages that looked like they could be paper.  I wanted to create in a way that would be somewhat easy & time effective.  So, I put my thoughts on hold for a bit.  Then digital items just started looking like paper scrapping.  So, I started collecting.  Purchasing things when they were on sale, finding freebies that I liked....and then Glitz decided to enter the digital world.  I still didn't start right away.  I needed to find out how I would organize everything.  How I would know what I had, and what I wanted to use.  So, I thought.  And planned.  And prepared.  And I have finally gotten to a point where I feel comfortable starting this whole digital scrapbooking thing.

This is the first digital layout I have ever created.  And I love how it turned out.  And I really hope that you do too.  We are celebrating the women in our lives on the Glitz blog this week, so it just fit that I would do a layout about my mom.  That photo of the two of us together was taken at my birthday celebration this year...with martinis being a must!  And the photo of just my mom was taken a couple years ago at the very end of fall.

I used a template that I found at Designer Digitals awhile back that I just fell in love with.  This is where the "easy" part comes in.  Here is what I know about myself & Photoshop.  We're pretty good friends.  I can find my way around pretty well.  But I hate brushwork.  With like, a passion.  I love that the templates at DD have a lot of brushwork done already, and I can take away what I don't like...and minimally add to it what might want.  I can also really customize them to look exactly as I want them...essentially, they are like a sketch!  Just digital.

Glitz Design digital product can be found at JessicaSprague.com.  All of the current collections are available right now, with the exception of Uncharted Waters.  And there are quite a few past collections as well!  If you are a digital scrapbooker...be sure to check them out!  I think you will love them!

Supply List:
Glitz Design “Love You Madly” digital paper pack 2
Glitz Design “Love You Madly” element pack 2
Glitz Design “Color Me Happy” paper pack
Glitz Design “Cashmere Dame” element pack 1

I am excited to be back in the memory keeping game.  I am excited about my new adventure into digital scrapbooking.  I know that this has been a blog about cards for a VERY long time.  And I am not giving that up at all!  So, I hope that you will enjoy my posts about digital layouts along with all the cards that I will continue to create!

Let me know if you have any questions, and I will answer them as best as I can!  I hope that you have a great rest of your day!

Until later,

To Know You is to ♥ You

May 7, 2013

Hey there, everyone!!  How was your weekend?  Did you do any creating for National Scrapbooking Day?  Sadly....I wasn't able to.  But not so sadly, it was because we were in Butte celebrating my mom's birthday!!  So, I was making memories...rather than recording them.  :)  When we came back home on Sunday, we frantically got a bunch of stuff taken care of because I had to take Josh to the airport bright & early Monday morning at 4:30am.  Fun.  He has a summit meeting at the corporate campus in Minneapolis this week, so once again...it is just me & the pups.  He texted me yesterday after he randomly met the CEO of the company....which is pretty exciting.  With how large a corporation that Best Buy is, meeting & shaking hands with the CEO isn't extremely typical.

I shared with you last week that we introduced our newest design team for Glitz Design, which included me sticking around as the DT coordinator.  Well, part of having a smaller design team means that I am able to create more for the blog as well!  This week we are celebrating all the women in our lives on the Glitz blog, and today we have some cards for mom featured!

I've created a card for this post using the "Love You Madly" collection!  I took using this patterned paper with the quote on it as a challenge....even at 6x6 it is a little large for a card front.  So, I fussy cut each of the words then layered them to the front.  Even though you can't see all of it perfectly...I still think it comes through loud & clear!  Here is what I created:
Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from vintage cream cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Fussy cut the words from patterned paper, then adhere to the front as shown.
4. Wrap a small doily around the side of a tag, then adhere to the front with foam adhesive.
5. Accent the tag with stickers, a wood veneer frame & chipboard letters for the sentiment.
6. Add sequins and wood veneer stars to the tag accent, then add a vellum arrow to the bottom.
7. Tie a double bow from ivory twine, then adhere to the top of the tag.
8. Add a giant rhinestone, sequins & a wood veneer star to the lower corner to finish.

Challenges:
-Retro Sketches #62 - sketch
-The Paper Players #144 - mother's day
-A Blog Named Hero #23 - glitter

I love how this sweet & trendy this card turned out...and any mom would love to get it!  Especially a fashionable and trend conscious one...tee hee!

That is all I have for you today.  I hope that you have a wonderful Tuesday!

Until later,
~L.

Sail Away With ♥ Me

May 3, 2013

Happy Friday, all!!  We've made it to another weekend!!  Yay!!  Can I just say something though...I seriously can't believe that it is already May?!!  Isn't that crazy?  Time just seems to fly by these days...  What are you doing this weekend?  Tonight we are BBQing with our closest friends (who are moving away from us soon...sad face).  Then tomorrow we are road tripping a little bit!  In the morning we are heading over to Helena so Josh can pick up some clay that he can't get at the studio he currently takes class, and then on over to Butte to celebrate my mama's birthday!  It should be a fun time!

So, last night I came home to my package from Studio Calico with the new Atlantic collection.  After squealing with delight, contemplated rolling around in the matching sequins & then just staring at all of it for awhile....I decided to actually break it all open and start using it up!! I combined it with some bits & pieces from the Sundrifter collection, and used the Atlantic Printables that are available right now (keep in mind that Studio Calico digital items are only available for a limited time.  If you want them...get them!!).  And this is what came of all of that!
Instructions:
1. Make an A2 card from white cardstock.
2. Cut background paper slightly smaller, then adhere.
3. Cut a strip of map paper, add a pinked edge yellow strip to the bottom of it, then adhere.
4. Layer the journal card & vellum frame to the front.
5. Add the sentiment arrow & then the convo bubble with foam adhesive.
6. Add a vellum arrow above the sentiment arrow, then finish the sentiment with alpha stickers.
7. Accent the entire frame with a geotag sticker, gold stars & sequins.
8. Add triangle diecuts to the upper left corner, then accent with sequins to finish.

Challenges:
-Studio Calico Sunday Sketch - sketch
-Studio Calico Weekly Challenge - add gold
-A Blog Named Hero #23 - glitter
-Simon Says Stamp challenge - just because

Well...there you have it.  I love how this turned out...and it took me about 30 minutes to put together!  I love it when new product makes things so easy for me!!  Because the majority of this is all Studio Calico, I am going to skip the supply list at the bottom of my post.  But, the cardstock is from WPlus9, and the wooden heart is Freckled Fawn...so so you are aware! :)

That is all I have for now...I hope that you have a wonderful Friday!!

Until later,
~L.

No Matter the Weather...

May 1, 2013

Happy Wednesday, everyone!!  I hope you've had a good week so far.  Speaking of weather...Montana is pretty much bi-polar right now.  It will be sunshining & warm one minute, then windy the next, then raining while the sun is shining, and then cold, snowing & completely grey...all in the matter of one day.  Ha!  Today has actually been really nice, and it is supposed to be accompanied by even more warmth for at least  a few days.  Then it will probably blizzard.  :)  Oh, life in the north.

WPlus9 is sponsoring the 10 Minute Craft Dash this week, so some of us decided to play along with them!  The colors are two of my FAVES (pink & aqua), and I created this CAS cutie in 9 minutes, 14 seconds.  I even took a 2 minute phone call from my gramma Penny while creating it.  Ha!!  I love how the cloud with garland rain turned out...check it!
Instructions:
1. Make 5-inch square card from vintage cream cardstock.
2. Adhere the diecut Polaroid frame to the front, then attach a peice of washi tape to the right side.
3. Fussy cut the top part of the cloud, then adhere to the left side of the frame.
4. Attach the garland underneath the smaller cloud shape.
5. Stamp the sentiment to it, then finish with gold teeny alphas.
6. Attach the stars to the top & sequins to the bottom to finish.

Challenges:
-10 Minute Craft Dash #17 - colors/timed
-CASology #42 - care
-Simon Says Stamp challenge - just because
-Stamp and Create April - diecut(s)

Well, there you have it!  You could win a $20 WPlus9 gift certificate by playing along, so pick your favorite products using the colors & get the stopwatch on your phone ready to go!  I hope you liked my >10 minute card....and have a great rest of your day!

Until later,
~L.
