2 Sketches 4 U & Tinkerbell!

November 22, 2008

Well, I have a few things to share this fine Saturday! First up are my cards for this week's sketches at the 2 Sketches 4 U blog. Lots of great cards this week by the new design team...be sure to check it out! First up is the sketch by Laura-
"Congratulations! Bride-To-Be" Card
Supply List:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: Little Yellow Bicycle, Basic Grey, & American Crafts
Sticker: EK Success
Pearls: Glitz Designs
Rub-on: American Crafts
Ribbon: Offray
Ink: Clearsnap
Border Punch: Martha Stewart
Corner Rounder: EK Success

And next up is the bonus sketch by 2S4U design team member, Kristen Swain. Very cute sketch...loved using it!

"Be Merry" Card
Supply List:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper/diecuts/Chipboard: My Mind's Eye
Ribbon: SEI
Rhinestones: Doodlebug Designs
Letter Stickers: Making Memories
Ink: Clearsnap

In my last post I also said I had a Tinkerbell project for Provo Craft to finish for November as well. Basically, I had to paint the frame with blue paint, and glitter paint. The frame looks so neat in real life...this would be perfect for any little girl's Tinkerbell themed room. I used the new Tinkerbell cartridge and my Cricut Expression to cut out the cute Tink cut, and then printed out the quote. The word "fairies" has glitter smudged on it to look like fairy dust. This cartridge has a few of the other fairies from the new Tinkerbell movie that Disney has released, so you could do similar frames for Fawn, Rosetta, Iridessa, and Silvermist. Lots of possibilities for the Tinkerbell lover with this cartridge!
Now I am going to go watch some football with my hubby! Big rivalry game today, the Griz vs. the Bobcats. Go Griz....beat those kitties into submission! Well, the game is on in 15 minutes!

And we are also pulling for the Superior Bobcats (not the Montana State Bobcats) to pull a Class C championship win over Wibaux today!! They are the Western C team that made it all the way through...and we have been pulling for them since they made it into the playoffs. They've got a great coach, a bunch of great kids who are really awesome at football! This is your day boys....go get em!

Hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday so far!

November Provo Craft & CPS 91

November 20, 2008

Yikes- long time no post!! Life has just been busy like normal, and I haven't had a whole lot to share until today! In my last post, we were in Sheridan, and I was hanging out with my mom and waiting to see if Josh got an elk. Alas- the elk seemed to be in hiding this time around and he didn't get one. But, he did get some gorgeous landscape photographs! Those will be fun to scrapbook on his "hunting" page for this year!

Now onto some projects! This is my card for sketch 91 at the CPS blog this week. We were sponsored by Kandi Corp. again, and some of us used stamps, while others used the hot fix applicator and hot fix crystals or brass adornments. I ended up with this cute pumpkin stamp and sentiment!
"Frosted Pumpkins" Card
Supply List:
Stamps: Kandi Corp.
Cardstock: BazzillPaper: Basic Grey
Diecuts: MAMBI (glittered leaves)
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression w/Storybook Font (scalloped circle)
Rhinestones: Glitz Designs
Ink: Staz-on & Clearsnap
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Misc: ribbon, colored pencils
Next up, I have a couple of my November projects for Provo Craft to show. My first assignment was to use the Graphically Speaking Cricut cartridge. This is such a great cartridge... full of amazing cuts! I cut the scalloped rectange that is on the card from this cartridge, along with the "me & you" cut, and the "best of friends" cut. I think I am going to do something similar for my co-workers for Christmas...just with a more Christmasy theme!
"Best of Friends" Gift Set
Supply List:
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: Pink Paislee & October Afternoon
Ribbon: American Crafts & SEI
Rhinestones: Glitz Designs
Ink: Clearsnap
Other: buttons, twine
**Next couple of photos are just individual shots of each project**
My next assignment was to use the Cricut Markers on a project. The main purpose of the Cricut markers is to draw an outline of a cut, and then cut it out, so it basically has a border. I decided to play around with them a little bit, and actually draw a part of the title directly on the layout. After a few tries on a peice of scrap cardstock....I found the right place to start the marker. It felt a little stark white, so I decided to use the markers to outline and cut a few of the letters from striped paper to add some color to the title. I think it turned out pretty darn cute! (Not to mention...it is a pretty cute little girl too!)

"Cute As A Cupcake" Layout
Supply List:
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression (Street Signs & Celebrations cartridges)
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: KI Memories & American Crafts
Stickers: Making Memories
Rhinestones: Glitz Designs & Westrim Crafts
Font: Century Gothic
I have one more Provo Craft project to share with you this week, it just isn't quite finished. To give you a little hint...I had to use the new Tinkerbell cartridge for my project...so it is pretty cute!
Hope everyone has had a wonderful week so far! Is everyone getting ready for Thanksgiving....isn't it crazy how quickly time flies these days?? I seriously can't believe it!
Happy Thursday,
~Lea

2S4U coming to you from Sheridan....

November 15, 2008

I finally had a chance to use the sketch at 2 Sketches 4 U blog this week! While my hubby was out hunting (unfortunately, they didn't get anything), I had the chance to make my card for the week! I brought a few things with me, and used some of my mom's tools.
"I Adore You, Mom" Card
Supply List:
Cardstock: Prism
Paper: Scenic Route
Chipboard: Heidi Swapp
Felt flower: Provo Craft
Rhinestones: Glitz Designs
Ink: Clearsnap
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Scallop Scissors: Provo Craft

My mom and I went to lunch together yesterday, and then stopped for latte's and ordered some pizzas for dinner at their local bakery. (The pizzas were SO good!!) Then we just hung out at home waiting for the guys to get home. My poor DH...he was exhausted from the long trek along a mountain ridge. He got some really pretty photos...they were at a really high elevation. But alas...they didn't even see an elk. They went out today to "drive hunt", and see if they came across any elk in some other areas. So, we are once again, hanging out at home, waiting to see if they get anything!

That is about it for me. I had some cards picked up for the April issue of Cards Magazine on Friday...so that is always fun! Well, time to go for now!

Have a happy Saturday!

Finally! One last football post....

November 8, 2008

So, did you wonder if I would ever do my last football update of the season? FINALLY, I have had a chance to go through the photos from that last game, pick out my favorites, and figure out what to write. I was unable to make it to this game because of my job, and I can say wholeheartedly that I wish more than anything that I could have been there. First off, it ended up being the last game of the season. But even more than that, Josh said it was the best they had looked since that first game of the season, and their opponents were a team/school/town full of class. Thank you to Belt for being such wonderful hosts to our boys and fans!

The game was on a Thursday night, and set to start at 7:30pm. But, the coaches soon found out that the referees for the game had been scheduled for Friday night, and not Thursday night. So, there just happened to be some men in the crowd who were trained referees (I think...the story goes something like that anyways), and so they threw on striped shirts over top of their plain clothes and used some yellow towels from the home team as their penalty flags. You will see a great shot of this in the photos! Josh said it was one of the BEST reffed games he watched all season long, even after the refs that were called in got there.

The Panthers won the game 44-15. Tanner, Casey, Levi, and Mike all scored touchdowns. Mike, Tanner, and Tucker all caught 2-point conversions. I am just so happy that Tanner ended up being able to play his last game of high school football. It really is a shame that they didn't make it to the playoffs. It ended up being a 3-way tie, and based on a points system that is used...Charlo ended up the 4th seed in the playoffs. I don't understand that, considering we beat Charlo, and they didn't beat anyone who beat us. But- whatever the other factors were decided the fate of the Sheridan Panthers...and that is okay. We are all so proud of these boys no matter what. They had to deal with a plethora of injuries this season, and it was just crippling for the team.

Now, on to my favorite photos. Josh did a great job photographing the game....I am very happy that he was able to attend, so we didn't miss out on any photos this season!! This photo just stood out to me right away...it blurred in all the right places, and stayed in focus in the other right places. Love it!
This is Casey totally laying a guy out so he could score that touchdown. Pretty sweet!
Cool shot of Casey taking the snap, and the next one you will see the ref and his penalty towel. Hee hee...it is a really cool shot!

A great break away by Levi that ended up in a long touchdown run! Awesome!

Looks like Casey would be going down in this shot.....
....but wait! Nope! He broke through and ran for more yards!
Love this shot of Casey. I don't know if he is calling a play or what...but I think it is just cool!
Nice run shot of Mike.
I think this is the ONLY shot we have with the ref doing the touchdown signal!! WTG Josh for getting that in! Touchdown by Tanner!
The Panthers singing their last football victory song of the season. WTG Panthers....we are all so proud of you!
So, that ends my football posts for this year. It was quite a season, and I want to thank each and every person who took this journey with me. Whether you read my blog regularly, were at all the games with me, or just happened to come upon my football posts at one point or another...I hope you enjoyed the photos and my not so technical commentary. Next up...basketball season! Hee hee! (We don't make it to nearly as much basketball because they play much further away...but we get to as much as we can.)

And on another note...we are EXTREMELY proud of Casey for making the honor roll! That is a big deal to us Case, and we gave you a big WHOOT WHOOT when dad called the other day. WTG kid- SO proud of you! (Okay- I will stop now. This is just a big deal to us!)

Hanging up my football reporter hat until next season,
~Lea

2S4U Laura's Sketch 12 & more!

November 4, 2008

I got an itch to stay up later last night, and do a card for this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 U. I was just going to sketch it out myself (sounds weird, doesn't it?) and pick out the product...but instead I was inspired to just complete it! Lots of Basic Grey on this one! Be sure to check out the 2S4U blog- it is a great sketch week, and they have introduced their Winter design team. The cards of the new gals are amazing...so be sure to head on over!

And these cards were featured in the September issue of Cards Magazine, with the first two being on the cover! That never gets any less exciting!

Well, for all my American readers...it is election day!! Did everyone get out and vote yet? I will be heading to the polls after work!! All I have to say is this day couldn't have come any slower. I take care of all the political advertising at my job, and I haven't had a break in political advertising since about March. So, needless to say...I am VERY ready for it to be over.

Well, have a very happy election day, or a Tuesday if you aren't in America!

Nice & Quiet Weekend...

November 2, 2008

...the perfect way to describe it! We have been homebodies for the most part, with Josh working for parts of it. We watched the newest "Incredible Hulk" movie with Edward Norton and Liv Tyler on Friday night. We don't pass out candy anymore because our dogs just go nuts whenever the doorbell rings. So, unfortunately...to keep their sanity and OUR sanity, we close up the front and hang out in the back. Here is hoping one day these dogs calm down when the doorbell rings. It was a good movie and we really enjoyed it! On a side note- Friday morning I jabbed myself in the eye accidentally with my mascara brush. My eye hurt ALL day long, and by the time the movie was over- my eye just wanted to be shut. So, we went to bed early in hopes that my eye would feel better in the morning. Lo and behold...it sure did! The human body is truly amazing to me!

Yesterday we watched football (the Griz beat NAU soundly...whoot whoot!), I made some cards, and had fajitas for dinner. Without cheese and sour cream. (We SERIOUSLY need to go to the grocery store.) They were still good though! We set our clocks back...and were wide awake at 7am this morning. Hee hee! Josh has to work today, so I am just hanging out at home. I am going back and forth from my scrap room, to lounging in the family room. Love lazy weekends like this one!

I do have some cards to share with you today! First up, I did Carla's blog challenge to make a transparent card. I did my own thing with the card, but it still follows the premise of her challenge. Be sure to check out the challenge, and Carla's blog for some fabulous inspiration! She is an awesome crafter! (Just an FYI...the second photo is the inside. I haven't even had a chance to edit the photos yet, as I have had other stuff on my plate...and just wanted to actually relax and scrapbook this weekend! I might get to editing them today...we will have to see!

Hope everyone else has had a fabulous weekend!

Sunday came to quickly,
~Lea

PS: Only two more days until this dang election is over. I will be so happy for it to be done...I SO need a break from political advertising. I haven't gotten one all YEAR LONG!
