Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 32

May 30, 2010

Happy Sunday everyone!!  Of course....Sunday means another color challenge courtesy of Stacey's Stamping Stage Blog!!  Here are the colors this week!
I went super clean and simple and teeny this week!  I also used fairly muted tones of those colors, other than the red.  I really wanted that to pop!  Here is what I came up with!
"I Appreciate You So Much" supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill Basics
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: apricot, ruby, old rose & Chalk: yellow cadmium)
Jewels:  Doodlebug Designs
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold red cardstock in half to make card base, and round the bottom corners.  Round the bottom corners of a white cardstock block, and adhere to the middle.  Stamp the dots across the middle, and then stamp the sentiment directly below.  Adhere the middles of the dots with red jewels.

Be sure to check out what all the other ladies come up with too!  It is sure to be fantastic! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

Circles & Chandeliers....

May 27, 2010

Happy Thursday evening, everyone!  I hope you have had a good week so far.  So- did you watch Idol last night?  I actually really liked both final contestants, so it didn't really matter to me who won.  But, I was definitely rooting for Lee a bit more.  I think they are both going to have great careers in the music industry!  And now America's Got Talent starts next week...YAY!  I love that show...and Howie Mandell is taking over the Hoff's spot.  He is HILARIOUS...so I think he is going to be a really great addition to the show.

Anways...on to what you most likely came to my blog for.  I have a couple cards to share!!  First up is my card for sketch 168 at the CPS blog this week.  I took some creative liberties with the sketch this week...and love the simple result of it.
  "Thinking of you, Always" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Dot Spot & Year of the Flower: Sweet Pea)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: mango tango, harbor, lime, black)
Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold white cardstock in half to make card base, and round the upper right corner.  Stamp the dots to the left side of the card using pigment ink.  Stamp the sentiment to the lower right corner in black.  Accent the centers of the stamped dots with jewels.

And this next card uses Kazan's Sketch 53 from 2 Sketches 4 U, and I did it with the current Cards Magazine Blog Gallery challenge in mind (to use a punny sentiment).  This is what I came up with!
 "Hang in There" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Ribbon: Renaissance By Design
Rub-ons: American Crafts
Jewels: Glitz Designs
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Diecut Cartridge: Home Decor by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold red cardstock in half to make card base, and adhere a flocked damask paper block to the front.  Round the top corners of a cream cardstock block, and adhere to the front.  Tie ribbon around the bottom, over top of the seam.  Cut the chandelier from black cardstock at 2.75" using the Cricut Expression and Home Decor cartridge.  Trim the left edge from it, and adhere them to the front of the card.  Accent the chandelier cuts with jewels.  Add the sentiment to the upper right corner of the cream cardstock using rub-on letters.

Well, Casey has officially finished high school, as today was the last day of classes!  We leave super early tomorrow morning to watch him compete in his very last state competition this weekend (track).  And then on Sunday he is officially & completely done with high school when he walks across that podium and gets his diploma.  I can't even put into words how proud we are of him.  The senior parents have hired me to photograph the graduation for them, but I just know that I am going to have some wet eyes behind that camera.  That's okay...I photograph weddings through happy tears for people I barely know...I can do the same for my brother and his classmates too!  I am getting teary eyed just thinking about it...time has flown by so quickly.  I remember holding him as a little baby....making him belly laugh as a toddler....being annoyed by him as a little boy....watching him test the waters as an adolescence....and from these past 19 years I now see this amazing and talented young man emerge.  And I am just his sister.  I can't imagine how my parents feel, and will feel on Sunday afternoon.

Well, I better get going for now.  I have a zillion things left to do and not much time to get them done in.  Talk to you later! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

"Krafty" kind of day...

May 25, 2010

I sat down today and got three cards done....wham, bam, thank you ma'am!  All 3 of these were done in less than a couple hours.  And it seems I was in a "krafty" kind of mood....because all 3 have kraft cardstock in some form. Hee!

This first card uses Sweet Sunday Sketch 70, and Cricut Cardz Challenge #25 to use birds or butterflies on your card.  Isn't that butterfly fabulous?!  It is from the Hannah Montana cartridge....I know I say this about every cartridge, but this one is a keeper.  You don't have to be a Hannah Montana fan to love it...because I certainly am not.  It just has a lot of fabulous alpha & shape cuts on it....and very few would pertain only to Hannah Montana. Here is the card!
"For Everything You Do," supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: October Afternoon
Stamps: Renaissance By Design (Strictly Sentiments set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: razzberry, black)
Flowers: Prima
Pearls: Prima & Kaiser Craft
Glitter: DecoArt
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Diecut Cartridge: Hannah Montana by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold patterned paper in half to make card base, and round the right side corners.  Round the right side corners of a kraft cardstock block, and adhere to the front.  Glue three paper flowers to the left side of the kraft block.  Stamp the sentiment to the lower right corner.  Cut the butterfly and its layers at 1.5" using the Cricut Expression & Hannah Montana cartridge.  Glitter the pink layer, and then adhere together.  Attach to the top of the bottom flower, and accent with a teal pearl.  Add the pink pearl flourishes as the butterfly flight pattern.

This next card uses 365 Cards: Sunday Sketch and The Pink Elephant Challenge #68 to use mostly orange on your card.  Broke out a white pen on this one....haven't done that in a long while.  Love how it turned out...I see myself using my white pens a lot more in the future!
 "Life is Brighter..." supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: K & Company, Sassafras
Stamps: Hero Arts
Ink: Clearsnap (Chalk: tangerine, Pigment: black)
Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Pen: Uniball Signo
Circle Cutter: Creative Memories
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Diecut Cartridge: Graphically Speaking by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold kraft cardstock in half to make card base.  Cut the sunburst at 5" using the Cricut Expression and Graphically Speaking cartridge.  Adhere to the lower left corner, trimming the excess from each side.  Cut a circle from heart paper, ink the edges, and adhere to the middle of the sunburst using dimensional adhesive.  Accent the sunburst with jewels, and add three jewels to the upper right corner of the card.  Draw the white line around the card using a ruler and white Uniball Signo pen.  Stamp the sentiment to the leftover white space.

And this last card is for the 365 Cards: Keep It Simple challenge to use one stamped image, one stamped sentiment, and one embellishment.  This card is actually pretty teeny...is is 3.5".
"You're Sew Lovely" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Sew Lovely set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: black, turquoise)
Pearls: Darice Inc. & Kaiser Craft
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold kraft cardstock in half to make card base, and round the lower right corner.  Stamp the sewing machine and sentiment to the right side of the card.  Accent with red pearls.

Those are all the cards I have to share with you today!  On the brother front....he had the Senior Awards & Scholarship banquet last night.  He was awarded as "Sportsman of the Year" and recognized for being the only male in his class to participate in 3 sports all 4 years of high school.  He also received $900 in local scholarships to add on to his $16,200 renewable scholarship from Carroll College ($8200 athletics, $8000 academic).  Needless to say...we are SO SO proud of him.  Wish I could have been at the banquet to hear it all in person.

I haven't shared any movie posts lately!!  Probably because we haven't been watching a ton of them lately, but we did watch 2 movies together yesterday.  Josh has an odd schedule this week, so we had the entire day together until he went to work at 9pm for an overnight.  We watched these two movies:
They were pretty good!  All About Steve wasn't as funny as I thought it would be, but it was actually very heartwarming.  I liked it.  And Old Dogs was hilarious...loved it!  It was pretty heartwarming too.  So- we had a warm and fuzzy movie day together!  Tee hee!

Well, I need to get going for now.  I hope that your week has been great so far! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 31

May 23, 2010

Happy Sunday everyone!!  I hope this post is finding you well!  Today means a new Curtain Call Color challenge, courtesy of Stacey's Stamping Stage blog.  So, without further ado....here are the colors this week:
Loving the soft colors of this week...although, they definitely challenged me by using them all together.  I did use sketch 91 from the Clean & Simple blog this week....I always love the sketches they come up with!  I did omit the scallop edge, because I just wasn't feeling it for this card.
"When I think of You..." supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Glitz Designs
Stamps/Ribbon: Renaissance by Design (Strictly Sentiments set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: peacock gold)
Felt Flower: Provo Craft
Jewels: Zva Creative
Button: Doodlebug Designs
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Embossing Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Embossing Border Folder: With Love by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold light purple cardstock in half to make card base, and round the bottom corners.  Round the bottom corners of a white cardstock block, and cover the bottom with floral patterned paper.  Emboss a flower border right above the patterned paper strip using a Cuttlebug & a "With Love" border folder.  Tie ribbon around the seam, and adhere the entire block to the front of the purple card base.  Adhere the felt flower and leaves to the right side of the seam, and top with a bow & pink button.  Stamp the sentiment to the middle of the white cardstock.  Adhere three jewels over top of the sentiment, and accent the felt flower with jewel flourishes.

Be sure to check out what the other Curtain Call ladies did for this week...it is sure to be lovely! ♥♥♥

Casey had a FANTASTIC divisional track meet this weekend!  He took 2nd place in the 100m dash & 400m relay, 3rd place in the 200m dash & 300m hurdles, and 4th place in the 1600 relay.  This means he will be going to the state track tournament next weekend in every single event he started out with in divisionals...first time he has ever done that in track!  Awesome job, brother!  So, next weekend is the state track meet on Friday and Saturday....and then he graduates on Sunday.  Craziness!!

Well, better get going for now!

Until later,
~Lea

Accordian Flowers with GCD Studios!

Today's post is all about accordion shaped flowers....so let's get started!

First cut a strip of 1"x12" patterned paper, and another strip of 1/2"x8" patterned paper. Then start putting score marks every 1/4" on the strips:
A lot of people don't score it, and that is fine.  I prefer to because it makes this next part easier.  Now, accordion fold both strips.
Next, glue the two ends together so it makes a ring.  I use hot glue so that it will not come apart.
Now fold the top of the ring inward, leaving the bottom to fan out in the shape of a flower.
Have a small cardstock circle that you can fold it down onto, and hold the two peices together very tight.  Hot glue a small section at a time, and let set.  This makes it so the accordion fold won't pop back out, and makes it easier to glue to your project.

Repeat this process with the smaller strip of paper.  This is how I designed my card with the two accordion folded flowers:
The accordion flowers make for a really fun accent, and a very inexpensive one at that!  All you need a few strips of patterned paper!

You don't have to make the accordion fold a complete circle either.  It looks really great in fan form, and makes for an excellent accent!
Everything on both cards except for the cardstock and ribbon are GCD Studios product, from the Urban Artsy collection.

Hope you enjoyed this easy and fun tutorial, and I can't wait to see your accordion fold projects!

Until later,
~Lea

Thursday already....

May 20, 2010

....wow!  This week has flown by!  It has been a good one though, so I can't complain.  How has your week been?  I will admit...I haven't been spending very much time at my craft desk, but that is okay.  I go in spurts, but I feel the creative juices coming back to me.  So, I figure I will be spending at least a little more time making some cards!

I have a few cards to share with you today.  First up is my card for sketch 167 at the CPS blog this week.  Decided to break out some fabulous Webster's paper, and a CTMH stamp set that I have had forever.  The two just seemed to go together so well!
"Irish Blessing" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Webster's Pages
Stamps: Close To My Heart
Ink: Clearsnap (Chalk: toffee, Pigment: black)
Brads: Creative Imaginations
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Glitter: Ranger Stickles

Instructions:  Fold cardstock in half to make card base.  Zig-zag stitch a rectangle shape that is 1/4 inch smaller than the red dotted paper block.  Adhere the floral paper block over top of the stitching so just some of it peeks out, and then adhere brads to each corner.  Stamp the butterflies to the white space on the floral paper block, and then stamp the sentiment over top of that.  Cut the banner from patterned paper and adhere to the upper right corner.  Accent the banner and the smaller butterfly with small pearls.  Adhere the entire paper block to the front of the card base, and then glitter the floral paper using Stickles.

Up next is a graduation card using sketch 90 from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog.  Yes- my second time using it.  I love it!  And, it was perfect for this....because I need to make quite a few of these cards for the kids that I photographed this year, and some of Casey's friends.
"Class of 2010" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Glitz Designs
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (For The Graduate)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: raven black, eggplant)
Jewels: International Greetings USA
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold purple cardstock in half to make card base, and round the bottom corners.  Round the bottom corners of a white cardstock block, and adhere a striped paper strip to the top of it.  Stamp the border directly below the striped paper, and the sentiment to the lower right corner.  Adhere the entire block to the front of the card, and accent the border with purple jewels.  Stamp the cap to white cardstock and cut out.  Adhere to the front and accent with a purple jewel.

And just one more card to share with you today...and it is super clean and simple.  But, I love it!  The challenge gallery this week at the Cards Magazine Blog is to use berries...and this is what I came up with!
"Berry Happy Birthday to You" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Brads: Doodlebug Designs
Stickers: Making Memories
Rub-ons: 7Gypsies
Border Punch: Fiskars

Instructions:  Fold white cardstock in half to make card base, and punch a bracket border to the card front bottom.  Add the three brads in a row to the front of the card.  Adhere the letter stickers directly below the berry brads.  Add the rub-on sentiment below the letter stickers.  Finish by adding brackets to each side of the cluster.

Those are all the cards I have to share with you today...but have you been checking out the Glitz Blog at all this week?  Well, we have started the new design team posts this week, and I have to say...the designers are doing an amazing job so far!  Of course, I get an earlier peek than everyone else because I post everything to the blog....and I have to say that it is an awesome perk of the job!!  Be sure to head over and check it out if you haven't...the girls are doing so awesome!

I got these fabulous tanks at Target this week, in preparation for summer.  They are super cute...both in the store and once you try them on.  Very flattering:
I shop at Target a lot.  One because I can afford it.  And two, they always have cute stuff that I will actually wear.  And three, most items are made out of 100% cotton, which I prefer.  I do always check the seams, because sometimes you will find a place that didn't get stitched well enough while being manufactured.  But, I have found that just by doing that one little thing...my stuff from Target lasts forever.  Now...I wash most of my tops on the delicate cycle, and don't dry them, so I imagine that helps keep them nice for a longer time.  I also got two more of the Mossimo boyfriend tees in some of the new colors.  I swear...I practically live in those tees.  They are soft, fitted but not tight, and are the perfect length.  I swear by those tees...

Anyways...that is everything I have for you today!  I hope that your Thursday has been a good one!  We have Casey's divisional track meet tomorrow and on Saturday....and it looks like it is supposed to rain.  Oh well...they run rain or shine, and we will be there to watch!! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

P.S.:  Thanks for all the comments on my last post, with Casey's graduation announcement.  And just to let you know...he is actually my brother, not my son.  I sure hope I don't look old enough to have a 19 year old kid! Tee hee!

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 30

May 16, 2010

Hi there!  Today is color challenge day courtesy of Stacey's Stamping Stage blog!!  Without further ado, here are the colors this week:
Such a FUN mix of colors...I just love it!!  I used some Papertrey Ink stamps for my card this week...a mix of old and new.  I love how PTI stamps work together so well...it doesn't matter when they were released.  I also used sketch 90 from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog for my card....as always, it is a great sketch this week!  Here is what I came up with:

"Dreams Believed" supplies:
Cardstock/Jewels: Bazzill Basics
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: amber, black)
Ribbon: Michael's brand
Ric-Rac: Wright's
Button: Doodlebug Designs
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold kraft cardstock in half to make card base, and round the bottom corners.  Round the bottom corners of a white paper block.  Adhere a strip of pink floral paper to the top, and tie ribbon around the seam.  Accent the middle of the bow with a pink button, and add pink ric-rac over top of the right side of the ribbon.  Stamp the border to the middle of the card, and accent the second line with pink jewels.  Stamp the sentiment in the lower right corner, and add three pink jewels to the left side of it.  Adhere the entire block to the front of the kraft card base.

Be sure to check out the creations from the other Curtain Call ladies as well!! ♥♥♥

I posted a few days ago that this year has gone by so fast, and it is almost time for Casey to graduate.  He had track districts this weekend, and he did an amazing job!!  He took first place in the 100m, 200m, & 300m hurdles for his personal events.  He took 1st in the 4x1 relay, and 2nd in the 4x4 relay with his team...and the boys team took first place for the entire day!    He is onto divisionals this coming weekend in Missoula.  Can't wait to watch him compete, as I haven't been able to make it to a track meet yet this year.  He only has 8 days left of school....and then he graduates.

I did his graduation announcement in place of the Josten's ones.  They look amazing in print....we have gotten a lot of compliments on them!  Here are the digital images of them...I am pretty proud of how they turned out.

Well, that is everything I have to share with you today.  I hope that you had a really wonderful weekend!!  We sure did....first weekend of real springish-summer weather.  Went to the Farmer's market on Saturday, and had a BBQ with friends that night.  So excited for summer!

Why, hello challenges....

May 13, 2010

....it is me, your long lost friend, Lea.  I feel like I haven't participated in any challenges lately, other than the ones I have commitments to.  Life has just been so busy lately!  I had some time to sit down and get a couple done today, and I also have my CPS card to share.

This first card is for Jacksonbelle Tuesday Challenge: CAS, and for the Etsy Inpsired Challenge #87.  The featured Etsy Shop is Lindsay Brackeen, whose shop is filled with sweet and whimsical prints.  I was inspired by this fabulous rainbow print of hers.  Here is my card for the challenge!
 "You've Been So Sweet" supplies:
Cardstock:  Bazzill Basics
Stamps: Papertrey Ink (Year of the Flower: sweet peas)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: aqua)
Rub-ons: Creative Imaginations
Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Glitter: DecoArt
Corner Rounder: EK Success
Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Diecut Cartridge: Create A Critter by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Fold white cardstock in half to make card base, and round the bottom corners.  Cut the heart rainbow and its layers from colored cardstocks at 3" using the Cricut Expression and Create A Critter cartridge.  Glitter the dark pink and yellow layers, and adhere them all together.  Cut the cloud from white cardstock at 2" and coat with glitter.  Adhere the cloud to the card, and then layer the rainbow cut to the top.  Accent the rainbow with jewels.  Adhere three thin strips of cardstock to the inside bottom of the card and accent with jewels.  Stamp the first part of the sentiment to the middle.  Finish the sentiment with rub-ons in the lower right corner.

This next card is based on the Moxie Fab Tuesday Trigger, and on Kazan's Sketch 52 at 2 Sketches 4 U.  Isn't this bird nest freaking adorable?!  I'll get a better photo tomorrow in the natural light...this was all I could do with the flash this time around.
 "Look Who's New" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: My Mind's Eye
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: seaglass, dusty plum) & Ranger Distress Ink (antique linen)
Lace: Making Memories
Jewels: Kaiser Craft
Electronic Diecut Machine: Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Diecut Cartridge: Give A Hoot by Provo Craft
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Steel Die: Papertrey Ink (large scallop)

Instructions:  Fold cream cardstock in half to make card base.  Cut a block of pink dotted paper and cut a scalloped edge to the bottom using the Cuttlebug and large scallop steel die.  Cut scalloped strips from blue and pink houndstooth paper.  Stain white eyelet lace with antique linen distress ink.  Layer the blue scallop, the stained lace, and the pink strip to the top of the card.  Stamp the sentiment to a cream paper block, and adhere to the top of the entire block.  Cut the bird nest and its layers at 2" using the Cricut Expression and Give A Hoot cartridge.  Glitter the bottom layer and the eggs, and adhere them together.  Accent the middle of the eggs with jewels, and adhere the entire cut directly below the sentiment.  Adhere this entire pink block to the front of the card using dimensional adhesive.

And last, but definitely not least, is my card using this week's sketch at CPS!  Had some fun with this cute Prima line!
"Get Wellie Soon" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper/Chiboard: Prima

Impression Plate: Papertrey Ink

Instructions:  Fold white cardstock in half and round the right hand corners.  Emboss the front of the card using the Cuttlebug machine and the polka dot impression plate.  Attach red paper frill to the left side of a strip of ribbon, and adhere to the right side of the card.  Adhere the chipboard tag to the lower right corner, and top with a matching bow.  Cut a rainbow from patterned paper, and adhere so it overlaps the chipboard tag just slightly.  Add the sentiment to the tag using letter stickers, and accent with three jewels.

It felt nice to break out my Cricut Expression again.  Honestly...I can admit that I was a little more heartbroken about not continuing on with Provo Craft than I thought.  I haven't had any inclination to use my machine since I got the news.  But, I did treat myself, and used my last royalty check from them to purchase some of the newest cartridges.  They all came while we were on vacation...and then I got sick.  I did look through the booklets while I was sick, and those two cuts used above were the first ones that caught my eye.  There are a lot of other cuts I want to use too...so I foresee myself using my Expression again....the way I used to.

Well, I better get going for now.  Hope you are having a wonderful week so far! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 29

May 9, 2010

Welcome to another color challenge Sunday courtesy of Stacey's Stamping Stage blog!  Here are the colors for the week!
These colors were a bit of a challenge for me.  I know that the one color says bordering blue, but I had to go with a shade of gray instead.  I just didn't have anything with a shade of blue like that one...so I figured it was pretty close to gray!  I also used Get Sketchy #37 for this one...such a fun sketch this week! Here is my card!
"Happy Father's Day" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Basic Grey
Stamps: Renaissance by Design (Sentimental Sayings set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: antique pewter & Chalk: charcoal)
Ribbon: Bo Bunny
Twine: Darice Inc.
Buttons/Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Pen: American Crafts
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  Fold gray paper in half to make card base, round the bottom corners, and ink the edges.  Round the bottom corners and ink the edges of a patterned paper block.  Tie ribbon around the top, and add a button to the bow using twine.  Adhere the block to the front of the card.  Round the top corners of a white cardstock strip and adhere to the top of the card.  Adhere buttons along the seam between the ribbon and white cardstock.  Stamp the sentiment to the white cardstock.  Draw a black pen line underneath it, and accent each end with three jewels.

Be sure to check out the fabulous designs from all the other ladies as well!  ♥♥♥

Prima Flowers.....mmmmm!

May 8, 2010

Both of my cards feature some new Prima flowers on them today.  Every time I look at them or use some of them...I honestly think, "mmmmm....love these."  I ♥ them!

First up is my card for CPS Sketch 165 this past week.  We were sponsored by Taylored Expressions this week, and I chose the CreativiTEA set to use.  Here is my card!
"Thank You" supplies:
Stamps: Taylored Expressions (CreativiTEA set)
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Webster's Pages
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: turquoise, black and Chalk: rose coral)
Ribbon: Renaissance By Design
Flower: Prima
Pearls: Prima & Kaiser Craft
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:  will be added later....

And I made this next card for my mom.  Her birthday was on the 6th, and Mother's Day is Sunday.  Her favorite color is purple...so I figured this was fitting. :)  And I totally lifted myself on this card.  Awhile back I posted a pink & aqua card that is very similar...I liked it so much I decided to make the same card, just with different colors, papers and embellishments!  (And sentiment....)
"A Mother..." supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Glitz Designs
Stamps/Ribbon: Renaissance by Design (Darling Damask & Strictly Sentiments sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: lilac, eggplant)
Flowers: Prima
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Jewels: Westrim Crafts
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions: will be added later....

I got my mom a 1 hour therapeutic massage as a gift, but I also wanted to give her an actual item as well.  (I am weird about that.  I love getting and giving gift certificates...but I always have to give them with a little something actual that they can open or at least see!)  My mom owns and runs a flower/gift shop...so bringing her fresh flowers seemed like a silly idea.  But, I saw these at Target, and thought they were awesome:

So, my florist mom got wood shaving roses from me too!  Tee hee!  They look really pretty sitting on an end table!

Well, I am in Sheridan hanging out with my mom for the weekend. So, I am going to get going for now.  Have a wonderful Saturday! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea

GCD & Nesting Dolls!!

May 7, 2010

We have such a FUN idea for our themed projects this month....these adorable Nesting Dolls!!
Well, I happen to have a Cricut cartridge (Paisley) that has 4 different Nesting Doll images on it....and I have never used them!!  So, I was happy to break out my machine, and combine it with some fabulous GCD product.  Here is my first example:
Everything except the cardstock, ribbon and stamps are GCD Studios.  The paper is from the Ava collection, and the embellishments are from the Urban Artsy line.  Love how well they mixed together!!

For my next example, I decided to make my card in the shape of a Nesting Doll.  I LOVE making shaped cards...and I think it turned out so cute!
Everything except the cardstock, stamp and jewels are GCD Studios product, and it is all from the Homespun Chic line.  I love how different the two cards look using the same theme.

**Tip on the Shaped Card**  My Cricut cartridge didn't have a card shape function for this, so I just cut out the shadow layer of the Nested Doll cut.  Then I traced it to folded white cardstock and cut out on my own.  Very easy to do!

Until later,
~Lea

Curtain Call Color Challenge: Act 28 (Better late....

May 4, 2010

....than never.)  Sorry I am so late getting this posted.  I caught a nasty head cold that reared its ugly head on our last night of vacation, and it has since turned into a bronchial problem.  Today is the first day that I have had at least a little bit of energy to get some things done.  So, I finally had a chance to sit at my desk and get my card done.  Without further ado, here are the colors for this week's challenge, courtesy of Stacey's Stamping Stage blog.
This is what I came up with.  This stamp is from one of the latest PTI releases..."For The Graduate".  And while this could be a graduation card, the sentiment could be used for so many other things.  Congratulations for pretty much anything, encouragement, birthday....I like that it is so versatile! I also used sketch 88 from the Clean & Simple Stamping blog on this one...LOVE this sketch.  It screamed "Lea"....tee hee!
