Heartfelt & Genuine Appreciation

May 30, 2012

Hey there, everyone!  How is your week going so far?  Great here- just been working out, keeping the house clean, and getting ready for my wedding season to start!  I did an engagement shoot this evening, and then have a wedding on Sunday.  Oh- and then I have another engagement session on Monday....my season has officially begun!!  {And I LOVE it!!}

Today I have a card to share that is full of soft colors and beautiful flowers.  I started with some beautiful Teresa Collins papers, from the Sweet Afternoon collection.  I just love the soft colors and elegant patterns from this gorgeous paper collection.  They mix perfectly with some of the Prima Marketing flowers that have made their way into my stash from StopAndScrap.com!!  Here is the card that I created:
"Heartfelt Appreciation" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper/Diecuts: Teresa Collins (Sweet Afternoon collection)
Stamps: WPlus9 (Label Layers 4 set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Stephanie Bernard Dye: chocolate, Chalk: deep lagoon)
Distress Ink/Blending Tool: Tim Holtz (antique linen)
Flowers/Leaves: Prima Marketing
Crocheted Lace/Twine: May Arts
Pearls: Kaiser Craft
Button: SEI
Sewing Machine: Brother

Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from vintage cream cardstock.
2. Cut two blocks of patterned paper and distress ink the edges.
3. Layer together, stitch along the seam and adhere.
4. Distress ink the edges of a diecut tag, then stamp the sentiment to it.
5. Adhere it to the card front, then accent with trim, pearls & a twine-threaded button.
6. Arrange white paper leaves and three flowers in the lower left corner to finish.

Card Challenges:
-The Shabby Tea Room #116- cream, pink & blue + flowers/fabric

If the Sweet Afternoon 6x6 paper pad wasn't enough, the collection also has some sheets of matching diecuts- which is where the sweet sentiment tag came from.  I stamped a greeting to it from my personal collection of stamps and then accented it with crocheted lace, pearls & a twine threaded button.  While this card has quite a few layers...it still has a simple design and could easily be replicated.  Pick out your favorite papers and flowers, and go to town!

Or better yet, get some Sweet Afternoon product for yourself! Teresa Collins "Sweet Afternoon" is still available in the StopAndScrap.com store, so just click on the banner below and it will take you right to where you can order!
Thanks for hanging out with me today!!  I hope that you enjoyed my Sweet Afternoon project!

Until later,

"Sunny Skies": Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week

May 26, 2012

Hey there, everyone!!  Sorry for being so sparse lately....I have just been super busy with so many other things, that my craft room has been a little neglected lately.  I am hoping that it will get a bit more use this week!!  So- did you watch the American Idol finale last week?!!  Eeeeeeek!  This is truly the first time that my VERY favorite, all the way back to auditions....has won.  And I will completely admit....I am a little obsessed with Phillip Phillips right now.  I purchased some of my favorite songs of his from the season, and have pretty much been listening to them non-stop.  He is just awesome...my favorite American Idol ever....hands down.

Well, today marks the Lawn Fawn inspiration week, and we have FOUR brand new stamp sets to share with you!!  This is a whimsical and fun stamp set, with sentiments that are perfect for encouragement cards!!

I paired the stamp set with Simple Stories "Fabulous" papers.  Here is what I love about Simple Stories...they include their "elements" papers in their 6x6 pads.  Most manufacturers don't do this, which is SO frustrating.  Cardmakers can't typically use the twelve inch strips, or the larger journaling cards...and it is so nice that Simple Stories includes these in the smaller format, along with their patterned papers.  Here is my card!
"Reach for the Sky" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics
Paper: Simple Stories (Fabulous 6x6 pad)
Stamps/Twine: Lawn Fawn (Sunny Skies set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Chalk: pumpkin pie, blue lagoon, dark brown)
Buttons: American Crafts
Flowers: Recollections
Jewels: Kaiser Craft
Corner Rounder: EK Success

Instructions:
1. Make a 4x6 card from brown cardstock; round the bottom corners.
2. Cut aqua gingham paper slightly smaller, round the edged and adhere.
3. Cut a strip of striped paper and adhere to the bottom.
4. Cut a block of elements paper & stamp the sun & bird to it; then adhere.
5. Stamp the sentiment to a strip of notebook patterned paper and cut notches in each end.
6. Tie a double bow from twine, then adhere to the right side.
7. Add twine threaded buttons to each side of the sentiment strip, then adhere with foam adhesive.
8. Cut out the banners from patterned paper, then adhere to the upper right corner.
9. Accent the card with paper flowers & aqua jewels to finish.

Card Challenges Used:

May Key Ingredients Blog Hop

May 21, 2012

Happy Monday, everyone!  I hope you had a great weekend!  We had a garage sale on Saturday, which we made a good chunk of change on!  Plus, it is so nice to be rid of a bunch of unwanted stuff in our house!  We sold a lot of it, and the rest we donated to the Teen Challenge thrift store.  Our friend Meagan hung out with us all day on Saturday, and we had a great time!

Today is the May Key Ingredients blog hop, and the theme is "May Flowers".  The kit has these cute mistable flowers in them, but I don't use/have any mists.  So, I kept them as is for my card, and just molded a little bit of shape to each petal.  I think it turned out really pretty!!  Here is what I created!

"A Friend Loves..." supplies:
Cardstock/Paper/Flowers/Ribbon/Button: May Key Ingredients kit
Stamps: Taylored Expressions (Faith In Bloom set)
Ink: Tsukineko (Versafine: onyx black)
Border Punch: Fiskars (upper crest)

Instructions:
1. Make A2 card from red cardstock.
2. Punch two upper crest borders to green dotted paper strips.
3. Adhere the borders to each side of a floral paper strip; then adhere to the card front.
4. Give the petals on each canvas flower some dimesion; then layer together to the front.
5. Cut a banner from yellow paper and stamp the sentiment to it.
6. Adhere to the front, tucked between the flower layers.
7. Tie a bow from dotted ribbon, and adhere to the top of the flowers with a pink clear button.

Card Challenges:
-CAS-ual Fridays #53- punches or dies
-The Friday Mashup! #59- decorative edge &/or ribbon/bow
-Simon Says Stamp challenge- clean & simple

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Key Ingredients team has come up with for your inspiration as well!!

May Key Ingredients Kit Reveal Post

May 11, 2012

Hey there, everyone!  Hope you have had an awesome day so far!  I ran a bunch of errands today, and worked out with my friend Misty.  We have gone 4 days this week, and I am so proud of us!  It is great to have a partner...someone to be accountable to so I get my rear into the gym!

Yesterday Taylor revealed this month's Key Ingredients kit, and it is full of goodness!  Check it out!
It includes papers from the "Fresh Goods" collection by Pebbles, matching cardstock & ribbon, mistable flowers & gorgeous clear buttons.  Taylor has also created a Coordinating Product page for the kit, so you can do one-stop shopping for all the Copic Markers, inks, and accents you might need {or want} to go along with your kit!!

I thought that this kit would be awesome for teacher themed cards and gifts, and that is what my card is based around today! {I have had some questions about the apple stickers, but unfortunately...I got them in a kit over 3 years ago.  They have been sitting on my desk ever since just waiting for me to use them.  I think they *might* be Kawaii brand, but I don't know for sure.}
Please check out the supply list and instructions to recreate this card on my Key Ingredients Day 2 post on the KI Blog. You may have seen a similar design before on my blog....I totally scraplifted myself for this one! :)  Totally legal in my opinion...tee hee!

If you aren't a subscriber, and really want this kit...no worries!  There is still time!  Just head on over to the Subscription Page and get yourself signed up!  You will love it!

Well, that is all I have for you today!  I hope that you have a great Friday evening!! ♥♥♥

Until later,
~Lea L.
