CPS #75 brought to you by Rubbernecker Stamps!

July 31, 2008

Happy Thursday everyone!! How is your week going? Mine- super busy. I have gotten some last minute assignments, and have been working diligently on stuff for SOY. Need to get clothes washed and packed before Josh leaves on Monday afternoon. I am so thankful that he is going to drive to Provo...I can't imagine having to check all the scrappy stuff I need, plus clothing. I finally found a dress and cute sandals for the SOY banquet....for a good price too! It is really cute...I will post photos next week once I have them!

I have my CPS card to share today! This week we were sponsored by Rubbernecker Stamps. We all got to pick our own, so be sure to check out all the cards this week! Such a diverse set this week...they are really beautiful! Here is my card:

My loving husband also picked this up for me this week, dealing with all the flack he got from his employees! (No- I don't have an IPOD, and yes....I still like CD's. Gasp...the insanity! Tee hee!)His boss (who we have known for over 8 years...so he can do something like this) even called me with a warning. He told me to stay away from the front of the CD player because it might just spit the CD out....and that if I hear a loud grinding noise in the kitchen followed by a blood curdling scream...it is Josh putting his hand in a blender from having to listen to it. Needless to say...he wasn't to fond of my CD choice! I did reassure him that it will pretty much only be listened to in my car and my scrap room...so Josh was safe!

Well, that is all I have for today. Be sure to check back tomorrow...I have some projects to post for a guest design gig I took on for August!

Have a great day,
~Lea

Color Combo Challenge #82

July 28, 2008

Janet asked me to be the guest designer for this week at the Color Combos Galore blog! I loved pulling out all of my papers that matched these colors and then picking and choosing what I wanted to use! I made it a challenge to myself to not use just one mfgr...and ended up using 2! Better than nothing, I guess! :)

This is the color combo I chose from the 4 that Janet gave me:

And this is the layout that I came up with! I can't believe that I used a colored background...so not normal for me. But, it really seemed to fit the layout this time around. (Click on the layout to see it better...much more detail that way!)
Supply List:
Cardstock: Bazzill
Paper: KI Memories & Hambly
Chipboard: American Crafts & Rusty Pickle
Rub-ons: American Crafts
Rhinestones: Doodlebug Designs & Westrim Crafts
Glitter: Doodlebug Designs
Scallop Scissors: Provo Craft
I am also glad I thought of these photos while deciding what I was going to scrap. We took this Disney World trip in October of 2006, when we still had our point and shoot digi camera. Well, right after we got back, Josh surprised me with my DSLR for Casey's last football game. I can admit that it is hard to go back and scrap the photos from my P&S camera, because it takes a bit of editing time to get them to look how I want. (I have been spoiled with my DSLR...editing is a cinch.) Well, this is layout #6 in the Disney album. I have a LONG way to go...but am now inspired to get going on them!
Do you want to know one of my quirks? I love cheeseball pop music, and one of my latest fave songs is by Jesse McCartney called "Leavin". I find myself putting it on repeat on my computer when listening to it. It has a catchy melody...I find myself dancing at my scrappy desk whenever it comes on. The only way I can think to let you hear it is to add the official video off of YouTube. I will warn you now that the video is a little suggestive and racy...so just be aware. Don't play it if you don't want to see that! Here it is:

Hope your Monday is going by with ease,
~Lea

Giveaway Winners & Provo July!!

July 25, 2008

First off...thanks for all the sweet comments on my last post about Casey. I really truly appreciate it. The doctor that performed the echo said he saw nothing abnormal! Praise the Lord...I was more worried than I even let myself believe about this. They are still going to send the test info to a cardiologist just to be on the safe side. But, we are all breathing a sigh of relief on this one!

Secondly...here are my radomly picked winners of the SEI and Cosmo Cricket paper packs! I wish I had the money to send each and every person a little RAK!

Please email me your address information to jnllawson at bresnan.net. (You get spam if you type out the entire email address- just an FYI as to why I typed it out completely).

And last but not least, I have my July projects for Provo Craft to share today! First up is a layout about Casey's Christmas present last year. I used the Solutions Street Signs cartridge for the title, and the Solutions Indie Art cartridge for the bullseye cut out. I like how it kind-of looks like a present as well!
For this card I did a combo of Cuttlebug and Cricut. I used the Swiss Dots embossing folder on white cored cardstock, and then sanded it a little to really bring out the embossed dots. I also used the Textile Hearts Combo diecut/embossing folder to make the heart accent. The embossing is very subtle because I decided to use patterned paper for it. Lastly, I used Opposites Attract cartridge to spell out "friends" in the sentiment. My last project is this cute little floral topiary. I used the Walk In My Garden cartridge, and cut out 13 flowers with middles from each of the three different sheets of patterned paper. I placed the flowers randomly all over the styrophome ball, and then filled the rest in with all the middles of the flowers that were cut out as well. Then I accented with buttons and rhinestones, and put it all together. Such a cute little project...I like how it turned out!

That is all for me right now! I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Sometimes life throws a curve ball....

July 22, 2008

If you can, please keep this boy, my little brother, in your prayers...
His chest has been hurting him some lately, so my parents told him to tell that to the doctor when he went in for his sports physical. When he told them that, they performed an EKG and said there was a slight abnormality. Then they did some type of pulmonary test on him, which for the most part came up inconclusive, but ruled out any lung issues.

So, he is scheduled for an echocardiogram on Thursday to get a true diagnosis, if there is any. The doctor said it could just be growing pains, but because he is a slim, tall, young male....the slight abnormality was a cause for concern. He is allowed to go about his daily life as normal right now, including football camp. They did tell him that if his chest started hurting during the camp that he was to immediately stop what he was doing, and to go to the hospital if it didn't subside.

I don't really know how I feel right now. It is a bit of a shock. But I also realize that it could be nothing. I am just believing that God has His hands on Casey's life, and that everything is going to be just fine.

But, if you have a moment to send up a prayer for him, I would appreciate it. I absolutely believe in the power of prayer, and I know that God hears each and every one.

I don't really have anything else to say right now, other than I will pick a winner of the giveaway I am doing on Friday at some point. Go to THIS post if you want a chance at the giveaway and haven't left a comment yet.

Humbly thanking you for your prayers,
~Lea

CHA Excitement Giveaway!

July 20, 2008

So, who else is excited about the new releases at CHA? I know that I am, and I have some that I can't wait to get! I am going to have a giveaway at the end of my post, so be sure to scroll all the way to the end, or read the entire post!! Here is what I can't wait to get my hot little hands on:

First up- Sassafrass Lass. All of it. So cute!! Here is a paper sample from each the new collections. I want all of it!

Next up, I am LOVING the new KI Memories Christmas line, the glitter lace paper, and the sheers. I can see some really cute home decor projects done with the sheers!!

I am really loving all of the new American Crafts collections, but have two that are faves...Moda Bella and Romance.
I am super excited about ALL the new Cricut cartridges by Provo Craft, but these ones will be making there way into my collection as soon as they release!

Hello Kitty Greetings (I just can't get past how adorable this one is. Love it!):
Graphically Speaking (download the PDF here if you want to see everything this cartridge can do. It is amazing):

Solutions Sans Serif (Looks so much like my very fave font, Century Gothic. I see LOTS of title work with this cart!):

Cricut is also coming out with some amazing additions to the Cricut. They are coming out with a deeper blade that will be able to cut through chipboard sheets. How AWESOME is that?! They are also coming out with a way to make a custom embossing folder to run through your Cuttlebug. LOVE that idea. And they are coming out with a way to make ACRYLIC STAMPS from any of the cartridges you have. I just can't get over all the awesome things Provo Craft keeps coming out with. You can see all these other great items HERE.

I am sure there is much more...but this is what I can wrap my brain around right now! There is something about the thought of getting new scrapbooking product that makes me want to create, create, create with the stuff already in my stash so I will clear out some room for the new stuff! So, in a minute...that is what I am going to go do!

But first, I went through my stash of papers the other day...and realized that I two sets of these SEI "Chocolat"papers...
and these Cosmo Cricket "Hello Sunshine" papers.

So, let me what new Summer CHA releases you are looking forward to and I will put your name into a drawing for one of these sets of paper! You can also let me know which set you would prefer, but with no promises that you will end up with that set! I will do my best though!

Hope that everyone has a happy Sunday!

CPS 73 & Kitchen Sink Stamps

July 17, 2008

Happy Thursday everyone! Well, I have a couple things to share with you today. Kitchen Sink Stamps sponsored the CPS sketch this week, and we got to pick from their great selection of stamps! Well, you all know I have a think for cupcakes...so when I saw Happy Birthday Cupcake set, I knew it was a must have for me! I also got the Plaid Plus set, and the sweet heart border was a perfect addition.

This first one is my card for sketch 73 at the CPS Blog. I have had this Heidi Grace paper collection in my stash FOREVER...and haven't touched it! I remembered it, and decided it would be perfect for this week's sketch!I also had some of these American Crafts scraps that really needed to get used up so they weren't wasted...so I did up another little card with the Cupcake stamps. I think the stamp set and this bright and cheery paper line were a good match! Well, that is all I have to show for today! Today is the last day for voting in the PC Gallery Idol contest. Voting ends at 12:30pm MST. Here is a LINK to my card one last time! Be sure to check out all the cards and get your vote in for your favorite if you haven't already by the deadline!

There is a private screening set up at the local movie theater for Best Buy tonight, where they will be showing the new Batman movie for us. So excited to see it...but it isn't until midnight! I am going to need to take a nap when I get home from work so I don't fall asleep during it! I am going to be so tired at work tomorrow, but it will be worth it for the private screening. No jam packed theater, and they are giving us the kid's price on tickets...so we are saving money too! Couldn't get any better than that in this economy right now! :) Although...they are going to keep the concessions open for us as well...so I am sure we will blow the extra money we save on the yummy goodness that is buttered movie popcorn and a big fountain pop. SO bad for you...but SO yummy!

I hope everyone has a happy Thursday!

Paper Crafts Gallery Idol & 2 Sketches 4 U Week 7

July 14, 2008

It looks like the kinks from last week are worked out, and this round of PC Gallery Idol is up for voting!! First things first, here is a LINK to my card for the week! If you want to vote for me, go to the link and then look under the image of the card where it says description. Right under that in pink there is a link that says "Click Here To Vote". It will pull up a separate window where you choose who you want to vote for, and hit a submit button. This is how they are tallying this week. Please note that the "Love It" button is not for votes. That is just a feature of the new website, and is on every item in the gallery. Be sure to check out all the other cards as well...lots of cards full of scallop goodness!

We also got permission to post our cards on our blogs so we can list supply information, etc. Here is my card! Supply Info: Bazzill cardstock,Sassafras Lass papers and stickers, Offray ribbon, October Afternoon rub-ons, Glitz Designs & Westrim rhinestones, Clearsnap ink, and an EK Success corner rounder.

I also got my card done for this week's sketch at the 2 Sketches 4 U blog! Such a fun little sketch this week...and I have wanted to use this sock monkey paper forever!! Finally broke it out and made a kiddie birthday card! Supply List: Bazzill cardstock, K & Company paper, Offray Ribbon, American Crafts rub-on, Making Memories letter stickers, Heidi Swapp chipboard heart, Glitz Designs & Westrim rhinestones, Clearsnap ink, and an EK Success corner rounder.

I have also had a couple of questions in my comments that I wanted to answer. First off, Ingrid asked me how I tie my bows. Hopefully I will be able to explain this easily. First off, I just tie the bow as I would tie my shoes. After that I put my fingers into the loops of the bow and tighten it. Then I pull on the ends to shorten the loops. I keep repeating this process until the bow is the size I want it, the shape I want, and the look I am going for. Then I cut the ends and attach it to my card! Pretty easy to do...not as easy to explain! I hope this makes at least some sense!

And then Mel Nunn asked me about what card sizes I use, and how to get them from 12x12 sheets of Bazzill cardstock. I make all different sizes of cards, but my main ones would be 5x7, 4.25x5.5, 6x6, and 4x4. This is the size of Bazill you would need to cut for all of those:

5x7 card= 7x10 strip of Bazzill
4.25x5.5 card= 5.5x8.5 stip of Bazzill
6x6 card= 6x12 strip of Bazzill
4x4 card= 4x8 strip of Bazzill

I am also going to give a little plug for the Scor-pal. This is one of the best cardmaking tools I own! It makes scoring and folding cards super quick, precise, and easy! Be sure to check it out!

Feel free to ask me questions if you have them! I love to give help and advice wherever I can...even if I am not an expert! Tee hee!

Until later,
~Lea

She's one Hot Mama....

July 11, 2008

So the truth is, while I love all of the new Glitz releases....the newest release of Hot Mama is my very favorite. (I think it has been that way with every release though...there is just something about black and pink that I love.) One of the greatest things about it is that it matches all the past releases of Hot Mama...so you "freshen up" the paper you already have. I adore it! Here are a few cards that I got done last night with the latest papers. I have to move on and get some other Glitz releases done, and I have a few other deadlines...but I can't WAIT until I can put this paper back in my queue.

And now to some info on PC Gallery Idol. Because there were some issues with voting this week, we are starting over. We have a new theme and have to get our cards turned in by Monday morning. Hopefully it will be smooth sailing from this point on. So, since this week was a wash....I figured I would post my patriotic themed card entry! I really dig the sequins...will have to think of using them more often!
So, do you have big plans for the weekend? Me....not really. I am driving up to my aunt's salon in Ronan to get my curly whirly's relaxed tomorrow morning. Truth be told...I NEEDED to get it done at the beginning of June. But, being a bit on the vain side...wanted to wait until my 10 year high school reunion was closer. Is that dumb? It sounds dumb typing it, but I guess I am still a little bit self-conscious about being around all those people...especially when it comes to my hair. Other than that, I have some scrapping to get done, and church. Oh...and I have to get a headshot taken- blech. Photos of just myself...not my most favorite thing in the world to do. But its got to be done, so I will do it with a smile. (Oh the cheese just oozes in that statement...sorry!)

Well, I am starving...so I guess I better go figure out what we are going to do for dinner. Any bets that we will be bad and end up going out to dinner instead of cooking? I'll let you know. ;)

Have a great night,
~Lea

A bit of PC Gallery Idol, Some glam, and 2 Sketches 4 U Week 6

July 9, 2008

Okay...so I have had friends and fellow card makers asking me to post when it is time to vote for PC Gallery Idol. Here is a link to my patriotic card that was the assigned theme for this round. If you want to vote for me, I would love it! But be sure to check out all of the cards and vote for your very favorite!

Tonight I have some projects to show featuring the new Glam line by Glitz Designs. Such a fun line...totally makes me think of the 90's for some reason!! I also doubled up a bit, and this first card features this week's sketch at the 2 Sketches 4 U blog! Such a cute sketch!

I hope that everyone has been having a wonderful week! Been a busy week in my part of the world!

Happy Wednesday,
~Lea

Basic & Angst....come on down!

July 8, 2008

I know....I know...my last couple of titles have been so cheesy! I guess I am a little punchy from being so busy these days! Tee hee!

Anyways, I have some more new Glitz projects to share with you!! Basic & Angst are two more new collections that Glitz is releasing at Summer CHA. These lines just scream teenager to me...I love them!! First up is the basic line...check out the entire line here!

Next up is the Angst line. Once again...so teenage boy, or a dare-devil little boy would be perfect for these papers! Check out the entire collection here!

Tonight I am working on samples for the Glam & Hot Mama collections!! Stop by tomorrow to check them out!

Have a great Tuesday evening,
~Lea

A little bit of GiGi by my side....

July 7, 2008

Okay, I somehow got the song "Mambo #5" in my head and I kept singing the chorus with the name Gigi in it. I don't even remember the last time I actually heard that song, so who knows what made me think of it!

Anyways...I have some cards to show you featuring one of the news lines being released at Summer CHA by Glitz Designs. This new collection is called "GiGi" and I just LOVE it. Love the color combo, love the cute patterns they came up with for the papers...just love it! Be sure to click on the link to see the entire line! (The second card is also my card for this week's CPS sketch! It isn't up on the blog yet, so you are getting a full sneak peak!) :)

I do want to say thank you to those that have left me some really amazing and sweet comments! They really do mean a lot to me and I appreciate them more than you know.

On that note, can I just be excited about things right now? I have had a good couple of weeks. This is my first time really bringing up SOY at all. Not many knew that I actually sent an entry in for it, and I haven't talked publicly about it much since being called as a finalist. But I am very happy to be a finalist, and I am super excited about the next process I have to go through before they announce the winner.

I did find out today that I am also a finalist in the Chatterbox design team audition. Chatterbox was the first manufacturer that I ever knew by name when I really got into scrapbooking forever ago. I have loved their product faithfully, and I was very sad when things weren't looking good for the company. I am happy that they are back up and running now, and can't wait to see what is in store for Chatterbox! The list of people on the CBX DT call back is amazing. Some major talent is on that list, and I can't wait to see what everyone comes up with!

Well, I need to get working on some more Glitz stuff for CHA! I hope that everyone has had a great Monday after the long holiday weekend!

A little bit of GiGi in the sun...
~Lea

Happy belated 4th, and 2 Sketches 4 U Week 5

July 5, 2008

Did all my American readers have a great Independence Day yesterday? Ours was perfectly laid back! We had a BBQ at our house, and a bunch of my friends from work came over for it. We sat on our back deck, listened to music, ate too much food, relaxed in the sun and just had fun chatting and laughing! I didn't even break out my camera! It was a great day! Josh and I were exhausted from staying up too late the night before and getting up early that we were asleep by 10:30pm. We watched fireworks on Thursday night after the Osprey baseball game...so we didn't miss out on anything related to the 4th!

And now my house is already nice and clean from preparing for the BBQ...so I can just relax the rest of the weekend!

In keeping with the 4th of July theme, I did a patriotic themed card for this week's sketch at the 2 Sketches 4 U blog. Be sure to check out the blog if you haven't...the sketches are fun to use! Here is my card for the week!Well, I am going to run for now! Got a birthday party to go to this afternoon. Hope that everyone has a great rest of the weekend!

Happy 5th of July :),
~Lea

Thank you.....

July 2, 2008

First off, thank you for the sweet comments, emails, etc....I am very excited!

And I just have a few things to share today. This was one of my cards for the PC Gallery Idol audition. You were to do friendship themed cards for the audition. I love this paper...it is so soft and pretty...and I love the cross-stitch look it has! Perfect for a girly friend card!
And being the beginning of July, I can share my cards that were in the May 08 Cards Magazine. Two of my fave cards to this day were in that issue, the baby and thank you cards.

Well, I have a busy day ahead of me at work today and I need to get going. I hope that everyone has a lovely Wednesday!!

HUGS,
~Lea
