SugarPea Designs - Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop

July 13, 2018

It's the month after the latest SugarPea Designs release, which means that it is time for our Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop! You will surely be inspired to use your newest SPD products after hopping along!

All of the blog hop information will be at the bottom of the post, but how about we get to my card first? Today I used the dies that I didn't get a chance to during the release week, and created a welcome to the neighborhood card! Who wouldn't love to get a rainbow colored card like this along with some cookies or a little housewarming gift?

My card is relatively simple, but still has some fun techniques included in it! The very first step that I did was paint some watercolor gradients on white cardstock strips using my Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolors in the following colors: candy apple, clementine, sunshine, key lime, aquamarine & lavender. After letting them dry, I diecut the house & building shapes from them.

Next I diecut the word "welcome" two times; once from aqua glittered paper, and once from white fun foam. {I used fun foam because while scripted, the word wasn't too thin. If it had been any thinner, I would have just cut it multiple times from white cardstock.} Then I adhered them together with mixed media adhesive and set it aside to let the adhesive set. I like to use a liquid adhesive like this, because it gives me time to line up all the intricate parts of the layers.

Then I mounted a block of white cardstock to an A2 black cardbase using foam adhesive. Then I adhered the watercolor houses & buildings to the front in a rainbow gradient, popping a few of them up with foam dots.

Next I put the entire cardbase into my MISTI tool (you will need to remove the black foam from it), and lined up the second part of the sentiment to the card front. I stamped it directly to the card front in onyx black Versafine ink.

Lastly, I adhered the diecut word above the stamped part of the sentiment with mixed media adhesive. Then I finished by accenting with my signature jewels here & there.

That is my card for today! We are still the new kids on the block in our neighborhood, but maybe we will get a new neighbor in the future who I can gift this card to.

As I mentioned above, this is a blog hop…and also a chance to win a $20 gift card to SugarPea Designs! All you have to do is hop along & leave comments at each stop. One lucky winner will be chosen from all of the comments!

Before you head on to your next stop, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) Plus, I just started a YouTube channel, and while there are only a few videos right now...I will be adding new content consistently!

Have a wonderful rest of your day, and happy hopping!
