SugarPea Designs - Sweet 2 Repeat Blog Hop

March 16, 2018

Hi there, blog friends! Today I have a super fun post for you full of rainbow goodness!

It’s time again for the SugarPea Designs Sweet2Repeat Blog Hop! Now that so many of you have our Winter Release in your hot little hands, our Pod Squad of designers have geared up to inspire you with even MORE creative possibilities featuring our newest and hottest products!

I focused on the brand new coverplate dies for my cards, and then created some fabulous sentiments to match. Check them out!

To start I cut (2) A2 cards from white cardstock and set aside. Then I cut two more blocks of matching cardstock that would cover the entire front of the cards. Next I blended the distress oxide inks in rainbow order to each block - one in a gradient, and the other more randomly.

Next I splattered water drops to the top of each ink blended block, then dabbed it up with a paper towel. Then I sprayed each block with white Heidi Swapp Color Shine to give it some shimmer.

Once they were dry, I adhered them to the card front with 2-inch Scor Tape. I used this adhesive because these blocks had been damp, and though they weren't really warped at all, I still wanted to make sure that they adhered flatly to the card front. It might have been overkill, but better safe than sorry!

Next I diecut the Diagonal Striped & Large Striped coverplates from white cardstock, and adhered to each card front with foam adhesive. This is where 3M foam tape comes in super handy! You can cut it into super thin strips so it won't peek out from behind the diecut piece. Once adhered, I splattered the front of both cards with gold lame Heidi Swapp color shine and then set aside to dry.

Next it was time to create the sentiments for both cards! First, I diecut the word hello (4) times: once from gold glitter paper & three times from white cardstock. {This die is from the Sweet Incentive Program, but will be for sale at some point in April!} Then I glued them together to give it structure & rigidity, and adhered it to the first card.

For the second card, I stamped the sentiment from Heartfelt Sympathy to a strip of white cardstock using my MISTI. I stamped the black section of the sentiment first, and then proceeded to stamp the gold section. I did it this way so that the gold pigment ink would lay over top of the black Versafine where the sentiments slightly intersected.

I trimmed a banner edge to the left side of the sentiment strip, and adhered it to the right side of the card with foam tape. To finish, I accented both cards with my signature jewels tucked here & there!

I pretty much just love rainbow cards...don't you?! I think they are my very favorite!
