Inclusive Mother's Day Cards with Pinkfresh Studio

May 10, 2020

Happy Mother's Day, crafty friends! I know that this day isn't easy for everyone...me included. But just know that I stand with you wherever you happen to land on a day like today. For me, it's a reminder that you cannot see my children, but they live within my heart every single moment of every single day. I am reminded that I am a dog mama to the two cutest senior dogs in the world who we have had since they were puppies. I am reminded that I have the best mom, and mother-in-law, who also grieve their grandchildren every day, but especially on days like today.

I wanted to share a Mother's Day card set that I've been working on with some products from Pinkfresh Studio. When we were designing the Forever in our Hearts stamp set, I knew that I wanted to include a mother's day sentiment for mamas who have lost a child or children. I think it's so important to be inclusive, especially of loss mamas. We wanted those babies so badly, and not many people remember us as moms when days like this come around.

"On Mother's Day" card features:
I provided all of the sentiments in this stamp set, as I wanted it to be very sensitive to loss. If you are not aware, this stamp & die set benefits Layton's Legacy. Each year I do a fundraiser to purchase gift cards for parents that find themselves in a NICU with their baby. It's hard and lonely and scary, and I just want them to know that there are people out there who understand and are thinking about them.

I started both of my cards by stamping & heat embossing the floral images from Blooming Bouquet to Strathmore Bristol vellum paper. Then I loosely colored them with liquid watercolor. I made custom colors from Bubblegum and Candy Apple, & Bubblegum and Clementine. The leaves are colored using Key Lime. I added liquid shimmer to my custome colors so that both my cards would sparkle.

The Chevron background was stamped in Peach Fuzz, Coral Reef and Passion Fruit, with one strip being heat embossed in Gilded. I heat embossed the sentiments to vellum in the same Gilded embossing powder, and trimmed them down into strips. I did all the diecutting, stacking etc...then put this card together on an A2 white cardbase.

"Happy Mother's Day card features:
This card was put together much life the first card, just some of the elements used are different.

I stamped the background using our beautiful Floral Diamond cling stamp in Coral Reef. I created a frame using our Stitched Rectangles, and used a standard mother's day sentiment for this card.

I really hope you enjoyed my mother's day card set today! I really love how easily these cards came together with all the different products we offer at Pinkfresh Studio!

If you have any questions about my card, feel free to leave them in the comments and I will be sure to reply.

Wherever you happen to be today, and however you feel about it - just know that I am wishing you a lovely day.
