Simon Say Stamp - Fluttering By Release Blog Hop

April 13, 2018

Hey there, blog friends! Today I've got some exciting news...I am part of the Simon Says Stamp Fluttering By Release Blog Hop!
http://shrsl.com/vz0v
This is day 2 of the blog hop, and we've got quite the lineup for you! I am so excited to be part of this week's new release...the new products are SO amazing! You can find the full release here - you are going to just LOVE everything!

At the end of my post, I will share the full link list for the blog hop, and of course...the giveaways!! Totally a reason to read the entire post, right?! ;)

For today's card, I focused on the Center Cut Flowers background stamp, and paired it with a sentiment from the Mom Flowers clear stamp set. I literally squealed when I saw this floral stamp set...and knew that I couldn't wait to use it with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. This is how it turned out!

To start, I cut an A2 card from heavyweight black cardstock, then set aside. Next I cut two blocks of heavyweight white cardstock slightly smaller. I stamped the center floral stamp from the Center Cut Flowers background stamp set to each block in onyx black Versafine ink. I used my MISTI to stamp them as I wanted to make sure I got a really great impression. I don't work with cling rubber stamps very often, so I didn't apply enough pressure the first time stamping...so using my MISTI was the right call!

I hit the stamped images with my heat gun just to make sure the ink was set, then proceeded to color the images in with my Zig Clean Color Real brushes. I started with the leaves, then did the flowers. I actually turned what I believe are some flower petals into leaves, as I wanted there to be a little more green. I was a little nervous at first, but it ended up working out great!

Next I adhered one of the stamped floral blocks to the black cardbase with foam, giving it some nice dimension. Then I fussy cut a few of the flowers from the other stamped block, and adhered them to the card front with foam dots. Then I added some shimmer to the flowers & leaves with my Wink of Stella pen. Finally, I added black splatters to the front and set it aside to dry.

Next it was time to work on the sentiment from the Mom Flowers clear stamp set! First I stamped & heat embossed the word MOM in gold glitter to a strip of vellum.  Then  stamped & heat embossed the second part of the sentiment in white to a thin strip of black cardstock. I cut banner edges to it, and adhered it to over top of the vellum strip with foam dots. Finally, I added it to the card front using foam dots as well!

My final step was to accent it with my signature jewels, tucked here & there!

I love the little bit of added dimension that the second layer of flowers gave to the card. Doing more of them would have likely been too much, but the three of them was the perfect touch! As you can see...I like cards with a lot of dimension to them! They might require a little extra postage to send along in the mail, but it is totally worth it to me!

Here is a look at what it took to create this card, minus any of my tools. You really can create a lovely card with just a few items!

That is my card for today...I hope that you liked it! How about we get to all the fun blog hop info now?!
