Happy Friday, blog friends! It's always a happy day when we are celebrating a brand new release from Simon Says stamp, right?! Their latest collection called Friendly Frolic went live this week...and it is such a FUN collection of products! Simon is doing a free gift with purchase promotion for the release - just use the code FREEG upon checkout to take advantage! The code will expire on Sunday, 7/29 at 11:59pm.
This is day 2 of the Friendly Frolic Release Blog Hop, and we've got quite the lineup for you! I will put all of the blog hop details at the end of my post, but how about we get to my cards first? I used the new Leafy Frame cover die, and Cathy Z.'s new stamp set called Tabbed Sentiments. This stamp set is SO much fun, and is perfect for cardmakers, scrapbookers, planners, etc...!
To start I created a top folding A2 card from heavyweight white cardstock. Then I cut another block the same size, and painted a pink ombre gradient to it using Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolor in Bubblegum. I use a 1 inch wash brush to do gradients like this, and just dry it off to pull up & lighten the paint at the bottom. I let the panel dry, then spritzed it with shimmer spray and splattered it with gold paint.
Then I diecut the Leafy Frame die from white cardstock three times, and layered them together with a Zig glue pen. Next I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment to black cardstock, then trimmed it down & cut banner edges to each end.
Then it was time to start putting the card together! I adhered the the ombre watercolor block to the cardfront, then layered the Leafy Frame diecuts to the top of it. I clustered a knot of gold thread to the middle of the card, and adhered it in place with the sentiment strip & foam dots. I felt like it was missing something, so I covered up the sentiment with the matching clear stamp, then added black splatters to the card front.
Finally, I accented the card with my signature iridescent jewels tucked here & there!
How about we get to all the fun blog hop info now?!
