Simon Says Stamp United We Craft Blog Party

April 4, 2020

Happy Saturday, crafty friends! How are you faring during this crazy time in our world right now? If I'm being honest, I've probably had more anxiety this week, but I don't want to focus on that today. I want to focus on this epic crafting party that is going on at Simon Says Stamp! There is really something wonderful about feeling connected and united around something that we love like papercrafting, which is what this big party is all about.

I think I read that there are over 100 people signed up for this party, so there is going to be TONS of inspiration using Simon Says Stamp stamps, dies, stencils & more! Be sure to get all the details on the Simon Blog, as all of the party links will be there. I hope that you really have an inspiring time checking out all the amazing projects, and be sure to check out #SSSUnitedWeCraft on Instagram too!

RAINBOWS WILL BE BACK CARD features:
The other supplies & tools used to create my card are linked at the end of my post. I love the sentiment on this card, and while right now feels more like a downpour...I do believe that rainbows will return. I do believe that we can find rainbows during the storm, especially in this little creative world of cardmaking that we call home. To get this card started, I stamped & heat embossed the Heart Garland background in Gilded embossing powder to heavyweight white cardstock. Once heat set, I diecut it with the largest die from the Essentials: Stitched Rectangles.

Next I diecut the Rainbow Heart from cardstock in white, and rainbow colors. This die doesn't cut an outline, so I just used the negative and trace it on white cardstock. After cutting it out, this is the piece that I adhered all the diecut layers to with a Zig glue pen. Next I covered the rainbow with the same glue and sprinkled glitter over top of it. I really like to mix Lawn Fawn's prisma glitter and chunky glitter together when glittering elements on my cards.

The final step to this card was stamp & heat embossing the sentiment from You Got This in bright white embossing powder to black cardstock. Once heat set, I trimmed it into a banner with a pair of fine tipped scissors. At this point it was time to arrange all the pieces to an A2 black card base, adhering each layer with foam adhesive. To finish, I accented with a row of rainbow colored crystals above the sentiment strip. I've been using the new embellishment wand from Studio Katia recently, and it works really well. Plus, It's super pretty! :)

That is the card I have for you today! If you have any questions about it, please feel free to leave them in the comments and I will be sure to reply.

We also wanted to share how we are connecting with others through crafting. I craft at my desk in the dining room while my hubby plays video games in the living room. Our house is teeny, so we are maybe 20 feet away from each other...and we often chat as we do our own thing. But, the other night I did catch a YouTube live for Jeff Lindberg's birthday edition of Craft Cocktails, with lots of my crafty friends. I did have my hubby take a quick photo of me "hanging out" with my friends! :)

I hope you enjoyed my card! I know that rainbows make me feel hopeful, so I hope that I could share some of that with you today.  Be sure to check out the Simon Blog for all the blog party links, as I know I can't wait to grab a cup of tea and start clicking for inspiration!

Before I close up, I wanted to mention a few ways we can help our industry and stay united during this crazy time:
  1. If you have the means, place orders with your favorite crafting companies like Simon Says Stamp - even if they can't ship right now. (Which is the case for Simon, and many other companies too.)
  2. Maybe you can't shop right now, and that is totally understandable. Add products that you find really inspiring to your wishlists and save them for a day when you can!
  3. Share sales graphics & such from your fave companies on your social media outlets - sharing really does help get the word out.
  4. Participate in their challenges and Facebook groups - it's a great way to connect & share your love of their products. Plus - most challenges also have giveaways!
  5. Share the love of your favorite crafters! Blog posts, IG posts, etc...let's share all the beautiful creations we are inspired by! I think we are all feeling a little off right now, and supporting each other will provide great encouragement!
Before you move along, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media before you move on with your day. I would love to be crafty friends online!

Have a happy Saturday!
