NinaB Designs May Blog Hop

May 15, 2012

Welcome to another NinaB Designs blog hop. The NBD team and I have something exciting for you today! Nina challenged us to create something that uses the NinaB Designs Spellbinders die cuts from non-paper products on their projects. Did you know that Spellbinders dies can cut all kinds of material? Kim Hupke, the Educational Director of Spellbinders Paper Arts did a video showing all types of products you can cut with the dies that you can find HERE.

For my project today, I die cut burlap with NinaB Designs' Home Sweet Home dies.  I combined the diecut burlap with Glitz Design's "French Kiss" collection...and it was the perfect match!  Here is what I created:
"Made For You...From the Heart" supplies:
Cardstock: WPlus9 (Oatmeal)
Paper/Epoxy Sticker: Glitz Design (French Kiss 6x6 paper pad)
Doily: Wilton
Stamps: The Craft's Meow (Sew Lovely set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: Roussillon & Stephanie Bernard Dye: chocolate)
Distress Ink/Blending Tool: Tim Holtz (antique linen)
Flowers: EK Success (cream) & Prima Marketing (burlap)
Seam Binding: Really Reasonable Ribbon
Twine/Crochet Lace: May Arts
Jewels: Want 2 Scrap (Fancy That! set)
Button: My Mind's Eye
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft
Dies: Spellbinders (Home Sweet Home set)
Sandpaper/Burlap fabric: craft supply

Instructions:  Make card from oatmeal cardstock. Cut background paper slightly smaller, distress the edges and adhere.  Cut burlap paper slightly smaller, distress the edges and adhere.  Cut a strip of striped paper with banner edges, distress and adhere to the top.  Add the epoxy sticker to the top of the striped strip.  Distress ink a doily and adhere to the front.  Diecut the house from burlap and patterned paper.  Diecut the heart from patterned paper, stamp the heart to it and adhere to the burlap piece.  Poke holes through it and thread with twine.  Adhere the entire house to the bottom of the card, then accent the roof with jewels.  Tie a double bow from seam binding, and layer to the card front with fabric flowers.  Cut a strip of burlap paper with a banner edge and distress.  Stamp the sentiment to it, add a bit of crochet lace to the bottom of it and adhere to the front, slightly tucked under the heart.  Thread a button with twine and adhere next to the sentiment to finish.

Card Challenges Used:
