Alexandra Renke Butterflies

August 1, 2019

Hi there, crafty friends! I hope you are having a good week so far! If you don't follow me on Instagram, then you might not know that my basement flooded a few weeks ago. My craft studio was located in the basement, and thankfully...nothing was ruined. It wasn't very much standing water, and what got ruined was the flooring, some of the drywall and the doors. Still a big deal, but I am so thankful that I didn't lose any of my crafting supplies!

So, we have officially moved my craft studio upstairs into the dining room. I am SUPER excited to be upstairs now, and the natural light in the room is fantastic! Since we don't use the dining room all that often, it is going to be perfect. It is looking super lovely, and I will share an image of my little space once I am officially done putting it all together.

The lovely Alexandra Renke was at JunkieFest 2019 this past June, and I was able to hang out with her again, and also take her class. She created this entire Butterfly collection exclusively for JunkieFest, but it is now available at Ellen Hutson in the US, and at Alexandra Renke in Germany. It is simply lovely, and makes cardmaking so easy & beautiful! All three of my cards were created with the same sheet of patterned paper, just cut from different parts of it.

For this first one, I started by stamping & heat embossing the sentiment directly to the card base from Welcome Butterfies stamp set in Gilded embossing powder. Then I diecut the Butterfly With Antennae from a scrap of this same paper, and adhered it with a little bit of adhesive just in the middle. This way I could give the butterfly some dimension. I added some gold thread and Pinkfresh Studio Essentials: Jewels in white as accented, then finished by flicking Gansai Tambi gold paint splatter lightly to the front.

This card I focused on the beautiful sentiment that was printed right on the Butterflies 12x12 paper. I made sure to trim the card base so that the the sentiment was featured, then I diecut the Small Butterflies from a scrap of the same paper. I adhered them to the front, and gave the wings some dimension. Finally I accented with the same white jewels, and flicked with gold paint splatters.

For my final card, I diecut the sentiment using Frame with Leaves, and popped it up with foam tape. I added some leftover Small Butterflies diecuts to it, then accented with white jewels & gold paint splatters.

Those are the cards I have for you today featuring the lovely Alexandra Renke Butterfly paper collection - be sure to check it out in full. I focused on the blue papers, but there are so many more with beautiful colors! I can't wait to create some more cards with this collection.

That is all that I have for you today. I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media before you move on with your day. I would love to be crafty friends online! I've been adding a lot more to my IG Stories lately, and have plans to keep that up. I hope you will join me!

Alright friends - time to go! Have a wonderful Thursday!
