Welcome to day 3 of the SugarPea Designs Sweet Peek Week! There has been so much inspiration already, and we still have two more days!
All week long I will have projects featuring brand new products from SugarPea Designs that will be available on Friday at 6pm EST! Each day has a blog hop of sorts, where you can hop along and check out what each SPD designer & guest has created with the day's featured product! I will have that link list for you at the end of my post. {All product links below will not go live until Friday evening.}
Today I am featuring the Postage Stamp CoverPlate, the LondonScape SugarCut & the Simply Fabulous stamp set along with the matching Fabulous Word SugarCut.
So, I've done my third creative process video for this card today, and I am super excited to share it with you today! Please keep in mind that I am still learning this whole process, but I believe that practice makes perfect...and you just have to start with what you have! I'm really excited to be starting out on this fun part of the crafting world that I don't know much about.
I will still share a written tutorial for those
that would prefer to not watch a video. But, I would love for you to
subscribe to my YouTube channel if you'd like to start this new journey
with me! My YouTube channel just went live, so this is only the third video
uploaded at this point, but you can expect more in the very near future.
Yesterday I focused on Paris, and today I am focusing on London! We have such an European vibe to this release, and it is SO fun!
To start, I cut an A2 card from heavyweight white cardstock and set aside. I cut another block of white cardstock at the same size, and blended my oxide inks to it as shown. I then proceeded to flick water to it & pick it up with a paper towel to reveal the cool reaction it creates with the oxide inks. Then I flicked shimmery paint splatters to it, and covered it in shimmer spray.
Once dry, it was time to start diecutting all the necessary items. First I cut the inked panel using the large postage stamp diecut. Then I cut the stitched heart from the middle of the same panel, along with 4 more of the hearts from white cardstock. Next I diecut the word fabulous 4 times - once from gold glitter paper, and three times from white cardstock. Finally, I diecut the LondonScape from black & gray cardstock, and the ParisScape from gray cardstock.
Then I stamped & heat embossed the rest of the sentiment in white to black cardstock. I trimmed it & cut banner edges to it, and proceeded to put the card together. First I mounted the inked panel to the card base, and then layered all the diecut hearts into the negative space with the inked version on top. Then I layered the Fabulous word die together, and adhered it to the middle of the heart. Then I added the rest of the sentiment below it with foam adhesive. While technically this part of the sentiment comes before the word Fabulous, it looked better below...and I think that is easy enough to understand what the sentiment is! ;)
Finally I layered the cityscapes to the front, making sure to pop the LondonScape up with foam dots to make it stand out. I used that gray layer as a shadow again, but unlike my card yesterday, I didn't separate them with foam dots. I think it looks great this way too! So - two really awesome ways to add a shadow to these amazing cityscape dies! And last but not least, I accented the card with my signature jewels tucked here & there.
I wanted to share this photo, as this is all you need to create this fun London themed card, apart from tools, adhesives & basics like cardstock. You really don't need a lot to create a really amazing card, and most of these supplies can be used over & over before they need to be replaced! I absolutely purchase new items each month to freshen my products, but I do stick to a pretty strict budget. I like to invest in items that I will get a lot of use out of, and make sure that I am using like items already owned before I purchase anything similar.
With that being said, my white Heidi Swapp Color Shine is almost empty, and I need to purchase a new shimmer spray. I prefer it to just be a shimmer spray, and not an opaque color so I can use it on anything I create. Should I stick with the Color Shine, or do you have a shimmer spray that you love that I'm not aware of? Let me know in the comments!
That is my card for you today! I hope that you like it! Now let's get to the rest of the information you need. First up, here is the link list:
