"Chevron Backdrops": Lawn Fawn Inspiration week

February 26, 2012

Hey there, everyone!!  I hope that the rest of your weekend was an awesome one!!  I drove to Helena and back for an engagement shoot, which went great!  We had church this evening, then came home and watched The Walking Dead.  Love that show!  So- it has been a super busy day, to say the least.

Tonight we are sharing projects using the new stamp set "Chevron Backdrops".  If you are a fan of the chevron print which is so popular right now, you are going to LOVE this new backdrops set!  You get three great stamping options....tiny chevrons, medium chevrons, and one really large chevron.  For my card I stamped the large chevron to the bottom of the background paper, and the tiny ones in really light pink ink to the sentiment stamp.  Here is what I created:
"Birthday Girl" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper/Buttons/Chipboard: My Mind's Eye (Follow Your Heart "Be Happy" 6x6 pad)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Chevron Backdrops & Sophie's Sentiments sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Donna Salazar Mixed Media: honey, leather) & Tsukineko (Chalk: pixie dust)
Lace: May Arts
Twine: Lawn Fawn
Pearls/Flowers: Micheal's brand

Instructions:  Make card from vintage cream cardstock.  Cut striped paper slightly smaller, and adhere to the front.  Cut a block of paper lined patterned paper, stamp a large chevron to the bottom and adhere to the front.  Cut banner edges to a vintage cream cardstock strip, stamp the small chevron print & sentiment to it, then adhere across the middle of the card.  Cut a tiny strip of dotted paper, give it a banner edge, and adhere to the top of the sentiment strip.  Add a strip of lace to the left side of the lined paper.  Make an accordion fold flower from dotted paper, and adhere to the left side of the sentiment strip.  Accent it with a twine bow and paper flower.  Thread two buttons with twine, then add underneath the accordion flower along with a pink pearl.  Thread 3 chipboard banners with twine, and adhere to the top of the card.  Accent the upper right corner with a threaded chipboard butterfly and give it some dimension so it pops off the card a bit.  Add a paper flower and pearl under the butterfly to finish.

Card Challenges Used:
-Stampin' for the Weekend #4- bingo card (ribbon/bows, pearls, pink)
-Our Creative Corner- over the edge
-Corrosive Challenge #143- use dimension
