SugarPea Designs - Winter Product Release - Day 3

Hey there, blog friends! Welcome to day 3 of the SugarPea Designs winter product release week! All new products will be available at 6pm EST on Friday. Today I am featuring the Otterly Adorable stamp set, and coordinating Otterly Adorable SugarCuts. You will also see some projects using the Large Striped Coverplate SugarCut - I didn't use it today, but will be in the very near future. Now on to my card, which is super adorable & full of vivid colors! This is a bit different for me and the card turned out a little differently than originally planned...but I think it is really cute! And isn't the fun part of being creative? Not to mention...this sentiment makes me sing the Adele song. Lol!

To start, I cut & folded an A2 card from black heavyweight cardstock, then set it aside. Next I watercolored the background to Ranger watercolor paper. I masked off the bottom, and painted the galaxy sky first. I use just a basic palette of watercolor cakes to create these backgrounds, which works perfectly for me!

While the galaxy background was drying, I stamped the otter & rock to white cardstock & colored them in with Zig Clean Color Real brushes. I used mostly light grey on them, with a bit of blue grey in the shadows...and then some pale pink to accent his cute little face! Once that was done, I diecut them and covered the rock in glitter so it would look snowy or icy!

 At this point the galaxy background was dry,  so I quickly splattered it with white paint while I still had the masking tape over where the water would be painted. Then I heat set the splatters so I could continue watercoloring the ocean to the bottom. In hindsight, I wish I would have blended the line between the sky & the water better...but it is what it is, and it still looks pretty!

After heat setting the blue watercolor, I sprayed the entire watercolor block with white color shine to give it a shimmer. Once dry, {which takes just a few moments} I adhered it to the black card base with foam. Then I added the cute little otter on his rock to the left corner of the water.

Next I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment in white to a black cardstock strip. I trimmed a banner edge to the left side of it, then adhered it to the upper right side of the card with foam dots.

 To finish the card, I added my signature jewel accents to the front, tucking a couple of them slightly under the sentiment strip.
