Lil' Inker Designs - June Newsletter Exclusive

Hi there, blog friends! Today is Father's Day in the United States, and I've got this lovely mountain themed Dad card to share with you today. If it looks a little familiar, that is because I based it on the same moodboard that we used for Layton's Legacy Blog Hop!

Father's day brings a lot of mixed emotions for me, as it does for a lot of people. It brings about the emotions that are tied to my biological father. But it also serves as a reminder that I have been blessed with an amazing step-dad, who has raised me since the age of 5. When we lived in Arizona, he had friends that called him Mountain because of his height...so this card was definitely also inspired by that! And then, of course, I think about Joshua. And how such an amazing person doesn't get to be a dad to his children this side of Heaven. How we are missing 4 tiny little hands & feet, and two sticky faces on days like this. It's a lot for me - so we don't make a huge deal about days like this. But, we still try to celebrate in small ways. And I hope that however you might feel about holidays like this, whether you love them or hate them...that you are still having an awesome day doing what you love!

How about we get to my card? I created this card using a mixture of Lil' Inker products that are all linked below. These are some of my favorite items from Lil' Inker Designs, and definitely staples for your cardmaking stash!

To start I created an A2 card from heavyweight white cardstock. Then I cut a cloud patterned paper block slightly smaller, and mounted it to the card with foam adhesive. Next I diecut the Wrapper's Delight Sunburst Die (which happens to be 50% off right now under the sale tab) four times: once from yellow cardstock and three times from white cardstock. Then I layered them together with a glue pen, and adhered to the card front.

Next I diecut the Dual Stitched Triangles. I diecut the larger triangles from a block of white cardstock that I treated with gray watercolor & shimmer spray, and the smaller triangles from just white cardstock.I layered them together to create three mountain peaks, then adhered them to the card front, popping the two smaller ones up from the larger peak. Finally, I added some shimmer to the small snow caps using my Wink of Stella clear glitter pen. 

 Then I diecut the word EVER four times: once from gold glitter paper, and three times from white cardstock. I layered them together with a glue pen, and adhered it to the bottom of the mountains. I used puffy alphas to customize and finish the sentiment, adding the words Best Dad directly above the diecut word Ever. And lastly, I accented the card with my signature jewels tucked here & there.
