SugarPea Designs - Summer Release - Day 2

June 12, 2018

Hi there, blog friends! Welcome to day 2 of the SugarPea Designs Summer Sweet Peek Week! We've got a ton of amazing new products to share with you, plus lots of inspiring projects!

All of the new stamps & dies will be available for purchase in the SugarPea Designs shop on Friday evening! Be sure to get all the details you need on the SugarPea Designs blog.

Today we are featuring the new Stuck on You stamp set, and coordinating SugarCut dies, along with the Geo Floral CoverPlate. I didn't use the CoverPlate on my card today, but you can be certain it will grace one of my cards in the very near future! Instead I focused on Stuck On You, and created these abstract cacti using my watercolor pens, MISTI & spray bottle!

To start, I cut and folded an A2 card from black cardstock then set aside. Next I cut a white cardstock block slightly smaller, put it in my MISTI & proceeded to create the cacti background. To achieve the abstract watercolor look on the heart shaped cactus, I first colored it with my Zig Clean Color Real Markers in the following colors: mid green, lilac & purple. Then I spritzed it with a light amount of water & stamped it. Each one came out a little differently, which is exactly what I was going for! Stamping this background takes a little bit of time...but I found it relaxing & fun.

Once all the cacti were done, I stamped the pots below them in Delicata golden glitz ink. I love how the coverage on this ink sometimes adds shading when stamped...but you could definitely stamp harder or stamp it twice to make it perfect. Next I spritzed the entire block with white Heidi Swapp color shine, then set aside to fully dry.

While it was drying, I heat embossed the sentiment in white to black cardstock. I trimmed it into a thin strip, then cut banner edges to each end. At this point, the background was dry so I mounted it to the card front with foam adhesive. Then I proceeded to flick black & gold paint splatters to the front.

The splatters don't take long to dry, and once they were I adhered the sentiment strip to the front with some foam strips. Finally, I accented the card with my signature jewels tucked here & there.

That is my cute little cacti card today! I hope that you liked it! Now let's get to the rest of the information you need. First up, here is the link list for the blog hop:
