First up, the Forest Friends stamps & die that I am using on my card today are 25% off at Pinkfresh Studio this weekend! They are flying off the shelves, so head on over & grab them if you want to add these cuties to your collection! Just use the code FOREST25OFF upon checkout.
Up next, Pretty Pink Posh is having a 20% off overstock sale, and I noticed that a couple of sets that I used on my VERY favorite PPP cards are part of it! You can see those cards HERE (the Angel Friends card), and HERE (Butterfly Friends). Just use the code OVERSTOCK20!
And finally, Concord & 9th is celebrating their 3rd birthday!! Some of my FAVE cards use C9 products! See my favorite rainbow colored birthday cards HERE, and HERE. There is no code necessary, but be sure to check the promo page - because the sale has specific products included! You can peruse all of Concord & 9th items HERE.
Alright. Enough shopping info...how about we get to my card?! I am SUPER excited about how this turned out. We spent a large chunk of July in Montana, and most evenings were spent outdoors - whether on my grandparents porch, playing yard games at my cousin Jamie's, at the cabin, camping at Georgetown Lake or on the back deck at my parents. And almost every night the sky became this glorious cotton candy color - pinks & blues & purples...it was glorious. I tried to emulate that as much as possible with my crafting supplies...hopefully I did it some justice!
To start I created a top folding A2 card from heavyweight black cardstock, then set it aside. I cut a block of heavyweight white cardstock slightly smaller, then heat embossed the trees to it in white. {You can also use watercolor paper for this. I wanted the bright white, so I chose to use cardstock.} Next I created a watercolor civil twilight using my Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolors in Bubblegum & Sky Blue. I used the watercolor smooshing technique to apply the paint, then just added drops of color here & there where I wanted it more pigmented.
I let the watercolor fully dry before spritzing it down with shimmer spray, then adding gold paint splatters to the front. I set the finished watercolor panel to the side to finish drying. Next I diecut the Forest Friends coverplate die from matching white cardstock, then trimmed the edges down. I stamped all the critters & leaves into the scene as shown using my MISTI & onyx black Versafine. Then I colored them in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in the following colors: pale pink (cheeks & ears), light gray (squirrel), oatmeal & dark brown (acorn), dark oatmeal (bear), brown (deer), and light blue (bird). I chose to not color the leaves, because I really didn't want any green on my card. Once the coloring was dry, I added some shimmer with my Nuvo glitter gloss pen, and white dot details here & there just to make it cuter. :)
To create the sentiment I diecut the word you four times: once from gold glitter paper and three times from white cardstock, then layered them together. I heat embossed the rest of the sentiment in white to a strip of black cardstock, then cut banner edges to it. Then I mounted both layers to the front of the black cardbase with foam adhesive. I adhered the word You to the lower left corner with some mixed media glue, then popped the rest of the sentiment to it with foam dots. Finally, I accented with my signature jewels tucked here & there.
That is all I have for you tonight - I hope that you liked my cute little Forest Friends card! My hubby is away on a business trip for the weekend, so I plan on being crafty all weekend! So, I will likely be back!
Before you move along, I wanted to invite you to follow
me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in
progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :)
Plus, I just started a YouTube channel, and while there are only a few
videos right now...I will be adding new content consistently!
Have a wonderful rest of your evening!
