SugarPea Designs - Fall Release - Day 1

August 20, 2018

Happy Monday, blog friends! I know it's been quiet around here...that's because I've been super busy getting ready for a very full week! It's new release time at SugarPea Designs, and we are going to be sharing projects with you all week long using all the new stamps & dies that are going to be released on Friday evening in the SugarPea Designs shop!
https://sugarpeadesigns.com/

Today we are introducing To Infinity and Beyond stamps & dies, the Stardust die (which I didn't use today, but you will see it later this week) and Over the Moon stamp set. Over the Moon is the Sweet Incentive Product this month, so you will get it free with a $60 purchase {while supplies last}! It will not be for sale right away, so you must do some shopping if you want it right away!

Up first is my card using To Infinity and Beyond. You are going to just LOVE this adorable set - I focused on the adorable little planets for my card, but there are also some cutie kid & critter astronauts! I also created a really fun & easy galaxy background using my Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolors. Check it out!

To start I created my galaxy background on heavyweight white cardstock. You can absolutely use watercolor paper, but I didn't want any texture and I have found that the cardstock takes the water just fine. The Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolors make galaxy backgrounds super easy! I applied a liberal water wash to the cardstock block, then dropped the paints all over and let them run together naturally. {It will look like a terrible mess while it is still wet, but I promise that once it dries it looks a million times better! The black watercolor will lighten a bit and reveal more of the colors.} I did move the colors around just slightly with a brush, and then heat set it with my heat tool once it looked how I wanted it to. I spritzed it down with shimmer spray, then heat set that as well. Finally, I added white & gold splatters to the front and set it aside to finish drying naturally.

Next I stamped the planets & rocket ship to white cardstock in onyx black Versafine ink. Then I colored them in with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I used A LOT of the colors, so I just linked the set that I own below. Once they were colored, I cut them out with their coordinating dies and then added glitter to them with my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen.

Next I diecut the stars, covered them completely with embossing ink and heat embossed them with glow in the dark embossing powder! Yes - this card glows in the dark, and it is SO fun! I tested it out and it works! Then I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment with gold glitter embossing powder to a white cardstock strip, then cut a banner edge to the left side.

Finally it was time to put the card together! I mounted the galaxy background to a top folding white A2 card with foam adhesive. Then I adhered the stamped images & sentiment strip to the card front with foam dots. The last step was accenting with the glow in the dark stars & iridescent jewels tucked here & there!

I don't normally put two cards in one post, but I HAD to create a card using Over the Moon as well! It is such a CUTE image, and I had so much fun creating this cutie!

To start, I stamped the images & the sentiment to the front of a white cardstock block as shown. Then I proceeded to color in the sun, moon & stars with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers. I hit the coloring with my heat tool, then proceeded to add the dark blue background with my Zig pens as well. Then I set it aside to fully dry naturally.

Once dry, I added the white & gold paint splatters to it. I have a super simple method for avoiding paint splatter on stamped images. I just take the actual stamp and set it over top of the stamped image. I did this with both the sun & moon image & the sentiment. Then you just clean the stamp once you are done! Super easy!

I mounted the stamped cardstock panel to a top folding A2 white card base with foam adhesive, then added some shimmer to the stamped images using my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen to finish.
This is basically a one layer card, and super simple! Zig watercolor pens are such a great investment into your crafting...then are super forgiving and have help me start learning to color images!
