Happy Tuesday blog friends! It's new release time at SugarPea Designs, and we are going to be sharing projects with you all week long using all the new stamps & dies that are going to be released on Friday evening in the SugarPea Designs shop!
Today we are introducing a new stamp set called Seeing Stars, and coordinating dies called Stacking Stars. The great thing about the dies is that although they do match the star stamps, they can absolutely be used on their own as well! These stars are great sizes, and will make a perfect addition to your cardmaking supplies!
For my card today I decided to create a shaker card with this great new crystal mix from Lucy's Shop called Over the Rainbow. It is a mix of pearls & crystals..and it is just so pretty!
To start I diecut the stars from a block of white cardstock in order to create my shaker windows. Then I proceeded to diecut the four smallest star dies from Bazzill cardstock that matches the colors of the shaker mix. I didn't link these cardstocks below, as they have been in my cardstock stash for ages. I believe they were a custom set of cardstock created for Doodlebug Designs back in the day - but I couldn't find them anywhere to be sure. Bazzill still makes plenty of cardstock colors that could be used in place of what I used!
Next I stamped the first part of the sentiment to the lower right corner of the white cardstock block. Then I stamped & heat embossed the first part of the sentiment to black cardstock and trimmed it into a thin strip. I set that aside, and adhered the acetate sheet to the back of the white cardstock block. Then I prepared the back of the shaker with foam tape so the sequin mix would stay in their respective window. I added the sequin mix into each section, then adhered another white cardstock block over top of it. Then I mounted the entire shaker block to the front of a top folding A2 pink card.
The final step was to add the different stars scattered across the shaker windows using foam dots with two different depths, along with the heat embossed sentiment strip. Then I accented with my signature jewels tucked here & there to complete the card.
That is what I have for you today! This card is fairly simple & easy to create, but still has a lot of fun dimension! Now let's get to the rest of the information you need. First up, here is the link list for the blog hop:

So cheery and fun. love the blend of shaker fills. How do you get the fills to stay inside the window like that? I really would like to know. TIA, Heather
ReplyDeleteHi Heather! So, when I am adding foam tape to the background, I just take the time to go around each of the star windows so that the sequin mix can't get out of its compartment. I use Darice pre-cut foam strips to make it easier! Hope that helps!
