Love Life

July 24, 2011

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope that your weekend has been a good one.  We totally geeked out with our friends Grant and Meagan, and had a Lord of the Rings movie marathon this weekend.  It was a good time! :)

I have a card to share with you today, and it is another CAS card.  I used CardPatterns sketch #125 to help out with the design of it.  I also used Annabelle's Say It In "red, chocolate & cream", Less Is More week 25- buttons and/or ribbon, Ribbon Carousel Challenge #12- buttons & trim, and Wee Memories challenge #62- CAS design. Here is what I created!
"Love Life" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (brown) Coredinations (red) & Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Patterned Paper: October Afternoon (Weathervane: chilly mornings)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Teeny Tiny Backdrops & Fly Free sets)
Ink: Close To My Heart (Pigment: vanilla cream) & Clearsnap (Pigment: chestnut)
Jewels: Doodlebug Designs
Twill: craft supply
Twine: The Twinery
Button: Papertrey Ink
Dies: My Favorite Things (hearts) & Papertrey Ink (scalloped edge)
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft

Instructions:  will be added later...

Well, that is all I have to share with you right now.  It is possible that you've noticed my posts have been sparse, and I don't have a whole lot to say in them.  I don't put much out on the internet that is deeply personal, and I won't give many details today either.  But I just want to let you know that I am going through a lot of heart ache right now.  Times when I sit down to make the cards I need to make...I just can't do it.  So, if you believe in the power of prayer....please just keep me and my family in them when you think of it.

Until later,
~Lea L.

Hey there everyone!  I hope that you have had a wonderful week so far!  I have been super busy editing photos from the last three weekends of weddings!  I get this weekend off from weddings, but have a family event to attend in place, where I will still be photographing...just not as intense.

I have a card for Stamper's Dream to share with you today.  It is also my card for CPS Sketch #227, where we were sponsored by Want 2 Scrap this week.  I also used the inspiration photo from The Pink Elephant #108, which features some of my very favorite colors and items!  Here is what I created!
"Sending Love" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (kraft & vintage cream)
Paper/Twine: My Mind's Eye (Lime Twist: Life of the Party 6x6 pad)

Ink: Tsukineko (Versamagic: sea breeze)
Pearls: Want 2 Scrap
Jewels: Kaiser Craft
Flower: Recollections
Corner Rounder: Creative Memories

I have posted my first wedding of the season to my photography blog, and I would love for you to head on over and check it out if you'd like to!  It is my first traditional church wedding in quite awhile, so I was very happy with the outcome!  Just click on the photo to take you to the blog post!

July 17, 2011

Hey there, everyone!  Today I have some fun news to share with you!  Awhile back, I was asked to be a guest designer for The Shabby Tea Room, and this is my week to join in on the fun!!

The Shabby Tea Room challenge #71 is called "So Charming", and the challenge is to create a project using charms, and inspired by the challenge photo!  The photo will be posted below the instructions if you want to check it out!  I also used Viva la Verve July Week 3 sketch to help with the design of my card...I just love how it turned out!!
"Let's Celebrate" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: Webster's Pages (Lullaby Lane 6x6 pack)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Sophie's Sentiments set)

Inspiration Photo
While I did initially make this as a baby card, as I continued to look at it...I felt it could be used for other occasions as well!  So, I went with a more generic sentiment, and decided that it could be given at a baby shower, with a baby gift, as a whimsical birthday card, a congratulations card....the possibilities are endless!  Sophie's Sentiments is probably my favorite sentiment stamp set that I own...I love the whimsical script and it has a sentiment for most occasions!  I consider it a must have in any stamp collection, and hopefully you will too!

I hope you liked my card as the guest designer for The Shabby Tea Room this week!!  I hope that you will play along so I can see your fabulous creation! ♥♥♥

Until later,

July Key Ingredients Peek!

July 16, 2011

Hey there everyone!  Sorry my blog has been so sparse this week.  I have a lot going on in my life right now, and card making has been very sparse this week.  Once July is over, my blog should get closer to normal.

Since I haven't made mention of it here yet, I should let you know that Taylor asked me to be part of the Taylored Expressions Key Ingredients design team!!  It is a wonderful monthly card kit where she takes all the guess work out of matching cardstock, patterned papers & ribbon for you, and also includes some fun embellishments!!  July is my first month as a team member, and my first post is up on the Key Ingredients blog!!  I would love for you to check it out!!

Here is a little peek at my first card creation using the July Key Ingredients kit!
Once again, please check out my Key Ingredients Day 6 inspiration post for card instructions, and a complete Taylored Expression supply list!!

"Critters on the Farm": Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week

July 12, 2011

Hey there, everyone!  Welcome to the last day of the July Inspiration Week for Lawn Fawn!  Today we are showcasing the latest critter series called "Critters on the Farm".  My favorite thing to do with the critter series stamps is to paper piece them, as I am definitely not a coloring stamper.  So, that is what I did with my card today, and I think it turned out so cute!

I used Card Patterns Sketch #123 to help with the design of my card, and I also created it for ColourQ Challenge #93 {real red, peach parfait, pear pizazz, marina mist, white}.  And I just have to say...in my world, sheep would be even CUTER if they were star patterned.  Tee hee! :)  Here is what I created:
"I Like Ewe Friend!" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: October Afternoon (Weathervane: chilly morning &picking pumpkins, Farm Fresh: south forty & hay barn, Cherry Hill: cookie jar, 5 & Dime: wax bottles) & My Mind's Eye (Quite Contrary: engaging gingham)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Critters on the Farm & Sophie's Sentiments sets)
Ink: Tsukineko (Versafine: onyx black)
Ribbon: Renaissance by Design
Jewels: Doodlebug Deisgns
Felt/Buttons/Cloud Die: Papertrey Ink
Puff Ball: Darice Inc.
Twine: May Arts
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Make card from vintage cream cardstock.  Cut plaid paper slightly smaller, round the upper corners and adhere to the front.  Round the top corners of a cloud paper block, and adhere to a vintage cream cardstock square.  Adhere a striped paper strip to the bottom of the cardstock block.  Cut a hill from green patterned paper, adhere to the cardstock block, and then wrap green dotted ribbon around the seam. Stamp the sentiment in the lower right corner, and accent with buttons tied with twine.  Stamp the barn, fence and sheep to patterned papers & cardstock.  Cut out the proper layers and paper piece each one together.  Layer them to the cardstock block, and then accent the sheep's tail with a black puff ball.  Adhere the entire cardstock block to the card front using foam adhesive.  Diecut a cloud from white felt, adhere to the front, and accent with jewels to finish.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Lawn Fawn gals have come up with using "Critters on the Farm"! ♥♥♥

"Quinn's ABCs": Lawn Fawn Inspiration Week

July 11, 2011

Hey there, everyone!  Welcome to day two of the July Lawn Fawn inspiration week!  Today we are showcasing the alphabet set called "Quinn's ABCs".  This set is a larger outlined alpha in a really cute font!  It has so many fun possibilities!

I used Chupa's Sketchbook Saturday Challenge #19 to help with the design of my card...she create the greatest sketches.  You should really try them out if you haven't already!!  I also used this Pink Paislee collection that I won off the Moxie Fab blog last summer...and have never used any of it!  Which is a shame...because I really love the color combo and the fun patterns in the paper.  So, at last I have cut into it!!
"ABC 123...You're A Star!" supplies:
Cardstock: Core'dinations (red)
Paper/Stickers: Pink Paislee (Starlight: Spark, Bright, Glow; element stickers, alpha stickers)
Stamps: Lawn Fawn (Quinn's ABCs & Say Cheese Too sets)
Ink: Tsukineko (Versamark, Versafine: onyx black)
Embossing Powder: Stampendous! (detail white)
Jewels: Darice Inc.

Instructions:  Make card from red cardstock.  Cut blue patterned paper slightly smaller, and adhere to the front. Cut yellow paper block, adhere to the front, and add a circle star sticker to the right paper edge.  Cut the star from patterned paper, adhere to the front, and trim off the excess.  Stamp the "You're A Star" sentiment to a label sticker, and adhere to the front.  Stamp and heat emboss the letters to red patterned paper, cut out, and adhere to the top of a scalloped circle sticker.  Add the number stickers below them, and then adhere the entire scalloped circle to the front with foam adhesive.  Add a bracket sticker to the bottom of the card, then accent with jewels to finish.

I think this card would be really great for all the different achievement levels that kids hit in school.  It would certainly be great for those who are getting straight A's and and successfully flying through the schooling process.  But, I think it is even more fitting for those kids who are trying SO hard, and still pulling B's and C's.  Academics doesn't come easy for many, and I think letting them know that they are a star for trying their best is super important.

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Lawn Fawn gals have come up with using "Quinn's ABCs"! ♥♥♥

And as always, there will be lots of giveaways on the Lawn Fawn blog this week!!  Click on these links and follow the comment instructions for your chance!!

Today we are showcasing the cute little stamp set called "Clear to See".  I just LOVE this cute little set...the glasses are a hoot, and I just LOVE the fun little sentiments.  I created a super clean and simple card for this one, making the focus completely on the stamps.  Here is what I created....can I tell you that I just love the little pearl on the glasses?  It just kind-of did it for me...tee hee!

Be sure to check out what the rest of the Lawn Fawn gals have come up with using "Clear To See"! ♥♥♥

Hey there, everyone!  Well, it is group post time for the WPlus9 July release week...which means the stamps and dies are available for purchase!!  Be sure to head on over to the WPlus9 store and pick up your must haves for the month of July!!

I used the C'est la Vie stamp set mixed with UpCycle from Cosmo Cricket for my card today.  I really wanted to create a fun and colorful "Girl's Night Out" type of theme for it, and I think I worked it out.  Tee hee!  I used the Viva la Verve! July Week 2 sketch to help with the design.  Oh- and the floral strip down the side, and the two tags coming out from the ribbon were actually cut from the intro sheet that the actual patterned papers came with.  They were scaled down to the perfect size that way...so don't forget to look at your  packaging when creating things!! :)
"Let's Go Party!" supplies:
Cardstock: Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: Cosmo Cricket (Upcycle: Reverse, Relove, intro sheet)
Stamps: WPlus9 (C'est la Vie set, Label Layer 2)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: black, platinum)
Buttons: Fancy Pants
Ribbon/Scalloped Border Die: Papertrey Ink
Twine: The Twinery
Stickers: Cosmo Cricket (tag) & Glitz Design (teeny letters)
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug by Provo Craft

Instructions:  Make card from vintage cream cardstock.  Cover the front of the card with polka dot patterned paper.  Cut a handbag paper block, and a gray scalloped strip, and adhere to the bottom of the card.  Diecut the label layer from vintage cream cardstock, stamp the flourish frame to it, adhere to the left side, and trim the excess.  Cut a floral paper strip, and adhere it to the left side of the card.  Add a strip of ribbon over the paper seam on the right side of the card, and then add a bow to it.  Stitch a button to the bow center using twine.  Stamp the dressform and crown to vintage cream cardstock, and cut out.  Layer them to the left side of the bow, and then accent with pink & aqua colored jewels.  Cut the texted paper strips, and adhere underneath the bow.  Adhere a sticker tag to the lower right corner, and then add teeny alpha stickers on top of it to finish.

Land that We Love

July 5, 2011

Happy Tuesday, everyone!!  I hope this posts finds you having had a wonderful July 4th and a great start to your week!!  I have a patriotic card to share with you today, and I am just LOVING how it turned out!!  It combines so many of my favorite elements, and is perfectly shabby!!

It is one of my card for Stamper's Dream this month...using an older JustRite stamp set from the store.  This stamp set is perfect to have on hand for all the different holidays during the year!

It is also my card for CPS Sketch #225 this week....which is a fun one!!  As you can see...I changed out the middle rectangle layers with a doily cut in half.  I think it is important to showcase that you don't have to use all the exact shapes, etc...when using a CPS sketch!! You can really turn them into your own, while still creating something that resembles the sketch well!

I also created this card for The Shabby Tea Room #69 {July 4th & Red/White/Blue}, and for OTWC #56 {red, white, any shade of blue}.  The inspiration photos for both of these challenges is located below the instructions, if you would like to see them!  As you can see...I used a couple different shades of blue on this one...and I just love it!!  The country blue and traditonal navy blue just go so well together!! Here is what I created!
"Land that We Love" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (red)
Paper/Diecuts: My Mind's Eye (American Made: Words of Devotion, Accessory Sheet)
Stamps: JustRite Stampers (Happy Everything set)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: cranberry) & Tim Holtz (Distress Ink: antique linen)
Ink Blending Tool: Tim Holtz
Doily: Wilton
Vintage Image: Crafty Secrets
Chipboard: Tattered Angels
Ribbon: Michael's brand
Buttons: Papertrey Ink
Twine: Darice Inc.
Glitter: DecoArt
Sandpaper

Instructions:  Make card from red cardstock.  Sand and distress ink the edges of a blue paper block, and adhere to the front.  Cut a doily in half, distress ink, and adhere to the front.  Tie ribbon around the bottom of the card, and stitch a button around the center of the bow using twine.  Glitter a chipboard frame, adhere to the top of a July 4th vintage image, and adhere to the card front.  Distress ink and stamp the sentiment to a diecut tag, and adhere to the right side of the bow.  Accent the sentiment tag & chipboard frame corner with a diecut circle and stars, and then add two small buttons with twine to finish.

Inspiration Photos
We had a very laid back but fun BBQ with friends yesterday.  They came over to our house, and we hung out on the back deck, and ate tons of food!  It was yummy!  The guys lit off some small fireworks in our street, and that was the extent of our day.  My hubby, and some of our other friends had to work very early this morning...so going to a fireworks show just wasn't in the cards.  Which is okay- I have seen the show here many, many times...and hope that my next show will be in some place new that I can photograph! Tee hee!

Well, I better get going for now!  I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day!! ♥♥♥

Until later,
