Pinkfresh Studio Liquid Watercolor Video Hop

September 17, 2018

Happy Monday, blog friends! It's been a bit quiet around here since the Reverse Confetti release, and that is because I have been busy getting ready for today's Video Hop with Pinkfresh Studio!

We have a really awesome line-up of papercraft designers who have joined on to do a video using our amazing liquid watercolors! There are some giveaways to be won, and I will give you all those details and the link list of all the YouTube Channels involved in the hop at the bottom of this post.

I decided to show you how easy it is to create a galaxy background like this with your liquid watercolors - you really can just let them do most of the work! I have combined the liquid watercolors with the Pinkfresh Studio Constellation stamp set, and Constellation coordinating dies!

As this is a video hop, I have created a video sharing how I put this card together! You can view it here, or in HD on my YouTube channel!

I hope that you liked a little look into my creative process! Be sure to give the video a thumbs up if you did, and subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't yet. Now that I've gotten everything figured out on my new laptop, I will be posting more consistently to it!

I know that not everyone loves to watch process videos, so I will still continue to do write-ups for all of my cards too! To start, I created the galaxy background on a white cardstock panel. {You can absolutely use watercolor paper for this, but I have found that the cardstock I use takes water pretty well, and I like that it is bright white & smooth.} Creating galaxy backgrounds is easy with liquid watercolor! I just added a generous wash of clean water to the paper panel, then dropped the colors I wanted to the front. I used more black than any other color, then moved the colors around with a bit of water and a round brush. The key that I have found to a really great galaxy background is to let it dry naturally, and not with a heat tool. This way the watercolor can continue to slightly react to each other until they are fully dry - plus a heat tool pushes the colors around more than I like.

Once the panel is fully, I splattered it with watered down titanium white acrylic paint, then with Gansai Tambi Starry Colors gold paint. Then I set the block aside to allow the paint splatters to dry.

Next I diecut the stars & constellation from white cardstock three times, and the constellation one more time from gold glittered paper. I adhered each of the layers together to give it more dimension once added to the card front. Then I covered the diecut stars in embossing ink & Glow in the Dark embossing powder, and heat set them all. I love adding little extra touches like this for the recipients of my cards!

Next I stamped & heat embossed the smaller sentiment in gold glitter to vellum, and the main sentiment right to the middle of the watercolor panel in detail white. It is important to verify that the panel is bone dry before attempting to heat emboss to it, and use your powder tool generously. With all the stamping done, I mounted the watercolor panel to the front of a white, top folding A2 card base, then adhered the vellum sentiment & diecut stars to the front.

The final step was accenting here & there with my signature iridescent jewels. Here is just a shot to try and show how the gold paint splatters add a nice glimmer & shine to the card!

That is what I have for you today! I hope you enjoyed it! As I mentioned above, this card & the video shared above are part of a video hop. Of course, there are prizes to be won on each video stop, and all you have to do to enter to win is leave a comment on each one! You have the chance to win a full set of the liquid watercolors on the Pinkfresh Studio video, and a chance to win a $25 Pinkfresh Studio giftcard by commenting on all the other videos, including mine!
