WPlus9 October 2011- Winter Wishes & Fair Isle

October 1, 2011

Happy Saturday, everyone!  Wow...I don't know where my week went!  Sorry it has been so quiet over here!  No worries though...because I have quite a bit of stuff to share with you over the next couple of days!  First up is day one of the WPlus9 October release week!!  Today I am sharing a card that features the latest stamp set called "Winter Wishes", and a little snippet of "Fair Isle".  Here is a bit of info on each set:
Winter Wishes
  • is a 4x6 clear photopolymer stamp set
  • contains 10 stamps; 7 images and 3 sentiments
  • will be available for purchase October 5th for just $13
Fair Isle Backgrounds
  • is a 6x8 clear photopolymer stamp set
  • contains 10 stamps; 7 background building strips and 3 individual background building images
  • will be available for purchase October 5th for just $19
I used the Just Us Girls #104 sketch to help out with the design of my card.  I also created it for Embellish's Circles Color Trends challenge (green, red, brown, cream).  I used the recipe from Fab 'n' Funky #92 (1 ribbon, 2 papers, 3 buttons), and the buttons make it also work for Lili of the Valley #114.  And last, but not least, the diecut doily makes it eligible for Inky Impressions #26.  Here is what I created!
"Warm Wishes for a Happy Holiday Season" supplies:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics (red) & Papertrey Ink (vintage cream)
Paper: My Mind's Eye (Lost & Found 2 "Rosy" and "Sunshine" 6x6 paper pads)
Stamps: WPlus9 (Winter Wishes & Fair Isle sets)
Ink: Clearsnap (Pigment: scarlett, chestnut)
Buttons: Fancy Pants
Ribbon: Papertrey Ink
Twine: May Arts
Border Punch: Fiskars (apron lace)
Doily Die: My Favorite Things
Diecut Machine: Cuttlebug & Cricut Expression by Provo Craft
Cartridge: Plantin Schoolbook by Provo Craft
Sewing Machine: Brother
Thread: Coats & Clark

Instructions:  Make card from red cardstock.  Cut the background paper slightly smaller, and adhere to the card front.  Cut a block of green dotted paper, and adhere a block of doily patterned paper to it.  Stamp a border to cream cardstock and adhere directly below the doily paper.  Punch an apron lace border strip, and adhere below the stamped strip.  Tie brown twill around the seam, and top with a matching bow.  Cut three 3/4" circles from cream cardstock, stamp the snowflake circles to them, and adhere to the right side of the doily paper.  Zig-zag stitch along both sides of the doily paper seams, and then stamp the sentiment to it.  Adhere this entire block to the card front using foam adhesive.  Diecut the doily from cream cardstock, then stamp the medallion image to the middle of it.  Adhere the doily to the top of the card.  Thread a green button with twine, and adhere to the middle of the doily cut.  Stamp the mittens to cream cardstock, cut out, and adhere to a strip of twine.  Wrap the twine around the button, and then adhere the mittens down.  Thread two small buttons with twine, and then accent below the sentiment to finish.

Don't forget to check out what all the other WPlus9 designers have to share today! I am sure it will be a treat!
Please come on back this afternoon, when I will host a Halloween challenge for World Card Making Day!  There will be a prize up for grabs, so you won't want to miss out!!

Until later,
~Lea L.
