Concord & 9th Feature Friday - Beautiful Branches

November 17, 2017

This month I was asked to guest design for Concord & 9th, and today is my second Feature Friday post using some of their latest & greatest!

All of the Concord & 9th November release is now available to purchase, so go pick out all of your favorites!

Today I am featuring the brand new Beautiful Branches stamp & die set, and there is SO much that you can do with it!  I have created 4 cards using this stamp set in different ways just so you can see how versatile it is.  I have also combined it with other C9 stamp sets so you can see how perfectly their products work together.

My first card uses just the Beautiful Branches stamp set, which I combined with a rainbow color scheme!

I used Ranger Distress Oxide inks to stamp the branch & leaves directly to a block of white cardstock.  I didn't feel like I got very even coverage when just using the ink pad to add the ink to the stamps...so I used my round ink blending tool to dab it onto the stamps which worked much better!  {All colors I used are linked below.}

I stamped the second part of the sentiment in onyx black Versafine to the lower right corner of the white cardstock block.  It was the perfect amount of white space to add the additional sentiment.

I heat embossed the sentiment to a strip of black cardstock, and then cut a banner edge to it. I then added all the layers to a black card base, popping it all with foam adhesive to give it great dimension!

To finish I accented with jewels.  The round jewels are Doodlebug Design brand, and the jewel strip is Prima Marketing brand.  I've had both in my stash for awhile now, so I'm not sure if they are available any longer.  They could easily be substituted with other options!

For my second card, I created a glittery baby card using the Beautiful Branches stamp set, and a sentiment from the Bits & Pieces stamp set.  I chose to use both pink & blue.  While I think you could send it no matter what, it would especially work when giving a gift for a baby that you don't know the gender of.  Or if the expectant mom is having boy & girl twins!

To create the background, I stamped the branches & flowers first.  Then I used my glue pad to add a thin film of glue to the entire stamped block.  Once it was covered in glue, I poured prisma glitter to the entire front.  {If you don't like glitter, then feel free to skip this step!  The flowers look beautiful without the glitter as well!}

I let the glitter set for a few minutes, then I added the glittered block to a pink card base using foam adhesive.

To create the sentiment, I heat embossed "hello" to a strip of light blue card, then cut a banner edge to it.  I layered it to the front with glitter foam thickers that I've had in my stash for awhile.

After that I just accented with my signature jewels tucked here & there.  While stamping & glittering was a little bit of a process, it was rather simple & easy to create this spectacularly shimmery card!

Card number three is all about Christmas!  I combined the Beautiful Branches stamp & die set with the previously released Ornamental stamp set to create it!

To start, I diecut the branch from a block of kraft cardstock.  Then I stamped the berries to it in Delicata golden glitz pigment ink.  Next I stamped the sentiment to the lower left corner in white pigment ink.

 I let the pigment ink set for a few minutes.  Then I layered the stamped kraft block to a white cardbase with foam adhesive.  The last step was accenting some of the stamped berries with gold glitter dots.

My final card was a last minute addition, and very easy to complete!  It has a Christmas feel to it, but not a Christmas sentiment.  I combined the Beautiful Branches stamp set with a sentiment from the Blooms Fill-in stamp set to create this one.

My first step was stamping the branch & berries to a white cardstock block.  I brushed my stamps with Zig Clean Color Real brush markers in dark brown & red geranium to give it a watercolor feel.  {Be sure to clean your stamps really well after brushing with these markers, and know that they will stain your stamps considerably.}

After stamping the branch & berries, I added the sentiment to the lower right corner.  I used Versafine in onyx black for the sentiment.

The most beautiful part of the card was extremely hard to photograph, but I tried my best so I could show it to you.  I brushed each berry with my clear Wink of Stella glitter brush.  Be sure to blot off the red that the brush picks up after each berry to a scrap of paper, or you will find yourself with a big red mess.

Once I finished adding the shimmer, I layered the stamped block to a black card base using foam adhesive.  I didn't even add any jewels to this one...I decided the subtle shimmer didn't need anything additional.

I tried a different black & white heavyweight cardstock for all of these cards today.  I noticed while perusing Michael's the other day that they had 110 pound cardstock in black, white & cream.  I purchased both the black & white to try out.  It is thick, heavy & the colors are spot on.  I think I found my new go to cardstock, and it is affordable!

You guys have left me comments, wondering often about what jewels I use.  While lots of them in my stash are older & no longer available...I also use jewels from Michael's a lot as well.  They are now linked below!  I use the Iridescent Assortment 72 pack, and the Adhesive Back Iridescent 42 packs in champagne & light pink (all colors are listed in that one link) most often.

That is what I have for you today!  Be sure to head on over to today's Concord & 9th Feature Friday blog post to see what the other amazing guest designers created using Beautiful Branches!  It is such a treat, and I LOVE seeing how designers use stamp sets so differently!

  3. You've gone above-and-beyond in accomplishing your mission to showcase the versatility of this set, Lea! Rainbow, flowers, shimmer and shine...you've created a quartet of stunning cards! Thank you for the tip about applying distress inks to the stamp with a sponge dauber; I've been having a bit of a 'time' with mine in using them as 'inks' without water! Will give it a go!
