Concord & 9th Feature Friday - Bits & Pieces

November 24, 2017

Happy day after Thanksgiving, friends!!  Have you been out & about shopping it up?  I have not.  Lol.  I worked in retail for far too long - I avoid leaving my home like the plague during the weekend after Thanksgiving.  There are a ton of great crafting sales that you can take advantage of right from home, so be sure to look for all of those!

I've got another installment of Feature Friday as a guest designer for Concord & 9th this morning!  Today we are featuring the Bits & Pieces stamp and die set, and it is awesome!!  By the way, Concord & 9th has a Black Friday sale going on as well.  Check out their Promo Page for all the details!

I created two cards for today's post, and I have a million more ideas that I am going to work on in the next week!  So, be sure to check back with me this next week and see what else I've created using this stamp set!

I focused on birthday elements from the Bits & Pieces stamp set, and the happy word die from the Bits & Pieces diecut set!  Here is a peek at both of them!

For my first card, I used the small stripe & one of the leaves to make a row of rainbow candles!  I stamped them using my distress oxide inks.  I've mentioned this before, but I don't feel like I get good stamp coverage just by applying ink directly from the ink pad.  So, after adding ink that way, I do use my ink blender to spread the ink around the stamp better, and add a little more to it.

I diecut the word "happy" from gold glitter paper, and 3x from white cardstock.  Then I layered them together so it would be thick, and easier to adhere.  Once I placed the word "happy" where I wanted it, I added the rest of the sentiment in onyx black Versafine directly above it.

After I finished all the stamping & diecutting, I adhered the stamped panel to the card base using foam.  This way it had a good amount of dimension added to it!  Then, of course, I accented it with my signature jewels here & there.

I kept the rainbow theme going on my second card, and this time use the small stripe stamp to create a rainbow birthday cake.  There is the cutest tiny candle in the stamp set, and I stamped those to the top of the cake in Galaxy Gold ink.

I diecut the word "happy" exactly the same as the first card.  Then I layered it to the top of the rainbow cake.  I also stamped the second part of the sentiment in onyx black Versafine ink to the bottom of the cake.

Once finished, I adhered the stamped block to the card base with foam for added dimension.  Then I accented with my signature jewels.

I've been using a different black & white heavyweight cardstock for all of my cards lately.  I noticed while perusing Michael's the other day that they had 110 pound cardstock in black, white & cream.  I purchased both the black & white to try out.  It is thick, heavy & the colors are spot on.  After using it for over a week now, I think I've found my new go to heavyweight cardstock that is also affordable!

You guys have also often left me comments, wondering about what jewels I use.  While lots of them in my stash are older & no longer available...I also use jewels from Michael's a lot as well.  They are now linked below!  I used the Iridescent Assortment 72 pack, and the Adhesive Back Iridescent 42 packs in champagne on these cards.  BTW - those are on an amazing Black Friday doorbuster sale today, and available online!!  Plus - they are doing flat rate shipping (likely just in the US) for $2.95 today.  So - if you love the jewels I use, today is a GREAT day to purchase them!

That is what I have for you today!  Be sure to head on over to today's Concord & 9th Feature Friday blog post to see what the other amazing guest designers created using Bits & Pieces!  It is such a treat, and I LOVE seeing how designers use stamp sets so differently!
