Pinkfresh Studio - Inktoberfest 2018

October 17, 2018

Happy Wednesday, friends! Today I have this soft & pretty card to share with you using a combination of Pinkfresh Studio stamps & dies, plus our liquid watercolor. I created this card for an education event called Inktoberfest 2018, hosted at The Hedgehog Hollow. Be sure to check out the entire month, as there has been a ton to learn about different inks, markers & more!

For my card today, I've created the background with our Lined Floral Background stamp set, some heat embossing & our liquid watercolor. The sentiment was created from the Folk Mandala coordinating dies, and the Pretty Paisley stamp set.

I am happy to say that I was able to create a process video for this card. You can view it here, or in HD on the Pinkfresh Studio YouTube channel.

It seemed silly to have the same video on YouTube twice, plus it is double the work for me...so I won't be adding this to my personal channel. But be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't yet, as I am adding more almost every week!

P.S. - if you hear some tapping in the audio, that is my adorable cocker spaniel. She wasn't in the mood to sit or lay down by me...instead she was pacing back & forth between the front room windows on our hardwood floors. And I wasn't about to start over - so, you get to enjoy what I listen to for hours upon hours some days. Lol!

I know that not everyone loves to watch process videos, so I will still continue to do write-ups for projects too. To start, I stamped & heat embossed the floral background to a block of heavyweight white cardstock. Then I taped it down to a craft mat, and applied a liberal water wash. Then I added drops of liquid watercolor in lavender and aquamarine to the front, then sprayed them with my distress sprayer to get them to mix & combine. If you watch the video, you will see that I used way too much water, and I show how I end up fixing that. After mopping up some of the excess water, I add the colors a bit more selectively and push them around with a brush rather than my distress sprayer.

Once I got the colors on the front to look how I wanted them, I set the entire piece to the side to dry naturally. Then I diecut the Just A Note sentiment 4 times - once from rose gold glitter paper, and three times from white cardstock. I layered them together with a glue pen, which gives the sentiment some added structure & dimension once adhered to the card front. Then I stamped the second part of the sentiment to white cardstock, trimmed it down, and added a thin strip of foam tape to the back of it.

Once the watercolor background was fully dry, I mounted it to the front of an A2 white card base with foam adhesive, and a layer of cashmere cardstock underneath it. Then I adhered the diecut sentiment to the lower right corner with mixed media adhesive, and added the second part directly underneath it.

To finish, I accented with my signature jewels tucked here & there. And finally, I brushed some shimmer over the entire background using my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen.

That is all I have for you today, my friends! Before you move along with your day, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) And of course, I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel.

Have a wonderful rest of your Wednesday!
