Simon Says Stamp Fun & Festive Blog Hop - Day 2

Happy Friday, blog friends! It's always a happy day when we are celebrating a brand new release from Simon Says stamp, right?! Their latest collection called Fun & Festive went live this week...and it is such a FUN collection of products! This is day 2 of the Fun & Festive Blog Hop, and we've got quite the lineup for you! I will put all of the blog hop details at the end of my post, but how about we get to my cards first? I used the new Outline Snowflake stamp set, along with the Tiny Words Christmas stamp set. I LOVE tiny sentiments, and this set has about 45 sentiments. I counted them - it's a lot!

I am happy to say that I was able to create a process video for this card. You can view it here, or in HD on my YouTube channel.

I hope that you liked a little look into my creative process! Be sure to give the video a thumbs up if you did, and subscribe to my YouTube channel if you haven't yet. Now that I've gotten everything figured out on my new laptop, I will be posting more consistently to it!

I know that not everyone loves to watch process videos, so I will still continue to do write-ups for projects too. To start, I stamped & heat embossed the Outline Snowflake background in white to (2) heavyweight white cardstock panels. You could definitely use watercolor paper if you'd like.

Next I taped the heat embossed panels down to a craft mat, and gave them a pretty substantial water wash with a 1 inch brush. Next I just started dropping small amounts of Pinkfresh Studio liquid watercolor to them in Bubblegum & Sky Blue. This is where watching the video comes in handy - you can see how the liquid watercolor reacts naturally with the water & heat embossing, and it's a little hard to describe in a write-up. I did use my Distress Sprayer to help move the water in some places, and blend the two colors together to make that pretty purple.

I set those panels aside to dry, then stamped the tiny sentiments to a white cardstock block. I stamped the Let It Snow sentiment three times, and the Missing You At Christmas just once. Then I trimmed them into thin strips, adding banner edges to the missing you one. Then I added thin strips of foam tape to the back of them.

I adhered the sentiments to each card over top of a knot of gold thread, then mounted each watercolor panel to the front of a white A2 card base with a full backing of foam adhesive. This way my card doesn't get any weird dents or warping. Then I accented here & there with my signature jewels.

The final step was adding some shimmer to the snowflakes with my Tonic Aqua Shimmer pen. I am using the Midas Touch pen here, which uses a gold glitter, instead of clear/silver.

How about we get to all the fun blog hop info now?!

    1. Hi Melinda! I just wanted to let you know that those are liquid watercolor - not alcohol inks! They do kind-of similar things, but there is no alcohol solution needed to create with these. :)
