Patterned Papers & Sentiment Stamping with HoneyBee Stamps

December 30, 2018

Happy Sunday, friends! I hope you have had a wonderful week since Christmas, and fun plans in store for New Year's Eve. Our fun plans include staying home, cozied up with our pups and a bottle of my favorite champagne. Sounds about perfect for this girl...I doubt we will even make it to midnight. Lol!

Today I am still on my patterned paper kick, along with my newfound love of my older border punches. Which is actually perfect for the Honey Bee Stamps Buzzworthy Challenge #19 (you have to be a member of their Facebook group to participate, so I just linked to that), which is to use your favorite HB stamps with patterned paper! These papers are definitely Christmas papers, but I tried to choose patterns that worked more for winter.

I've got a little bit of insider info on a GREAT sale starting TOMORROW 12/31 at Honey Bee Stamps. Everything is 37% off in honor of Melissa's birthday, using code HBD37. I know that I will be picking up some new items, so I hope you can spoil yourself a little too! Don't forget - starts tomorrow for 24 hours only!

I mentioned in my last blog post that I found an entire stash of Christmas product from last year that I had totally forgotten about, and it never was used. I used some of that stash to create this sweet little card - it features the Oh What Fun! collection by My Mind's Eye, which is likely no longer available. But as I have mentioned, these cards can easily be replicated with any papers that you have on hand. I've also used what is technically a fall themed stamp set called Acorn Sisters from Honey Bee Stamps, but I just love the sentiments in it. I thought this was perfect for my pastel wintry card today!

I started out by stamping the sentiment to the pink & white snowflake tag in onyx black Versafine ink. Then I popped the tag up with some foam adhesive over a block of white glitter paper, and added a jeweled pearl accent to the middle. Then I set the tag aside.

Next I used my Martha Stewart doily border punch (that is eons old, but I still LOVE it), and punched a border to the right side of seven strips of patterned paper. I layered them to a block of white cardstock trimmed slightly smaller than an A2 card using 1/4 inch Scor Tape, and thin strips of Darice foam adhesive. Then I wrapped May Arts ivory burlap twine around the center of the card, marking where I planned on placing the tag.

Next I adhered the entire doily border piece to an A2 card base cut & folded from cougar white 130 LB cardstock from Cut Cardstock. I adhered the tag to the front, then added a double bow tied from matching ivory twine to the top of the tag and a chipboard button over top of the bow to finish.
So, this card was actually made from scraps to many other cards I've created using this collection. After happening upon that stash of Christmas product, I've decided that I will be doing a monthly feature on creating Christmas cards!! This is such a great way to get a head start on Christmas cards for next year, and I hope you will join along with me! I'm thinking I will have a link list & a prize each month - so I guess you could kind-of consider it a challenge? It will be low-key and fun - I just want to challenge you to try and create for Christmas all year long. :)

Well, that is what I have for you today! Don't forget that I have a GIVEAWAY going on, so comment on that blog post if you'd like! I update my Crafty Sales page with the latest promos as I get them, so be sure to check it out! Before you move along with your day, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) And of course, I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel. My channel has been pretty quiet recently - but I just got my new lights dialed in yesterday, and my craft studio organization is almost complete! So, there will be a TON more videos in 2019. You can expect my first video during the second week of January!

You are going to see a new option up there....Facebook. I go back & forth on this a lot, but I was looking through my personal FB page the other day...and it was cards for days. It doesn't leave room for what I want my personal FB to have on it - personal photos & such. So, I have created a FB page for Lea Lawson Creates again. I would love to have you join, and be sure to subscribe to notifications so you don't miss out on anything. I would like to make the page interactive, and a way that we can actually hang out...so if you have any ideas on that, I would appreciate it!
I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your Sunday!
