Pinkfresh Studio - Constellation

Happy Thursday, friends! We are almost to the weekend....yay! Only two more sleeps until my family is here for a week! I am SO excited! I really hope that you have had an excellent week so far, and that you are enjoying this holiday season.

I shared my 2018 favorite items from Pinkfresh Studio in yesterday's blog post, and I realized that I have some cards using more of those items that I haven't shared on my blog yet! While I've got some more Christmas cards in the works for you, having these extra cards will allow me to continue posting each day. Plus, I do really want to share the cards...my schedule just hasn't really allowed for it lately!

Today I am sharing a card that I really love, and enjoyed making so much! This thought of mine always changes when it comes to Pinkfresh product, but the Constellation stamp set and coordinating dies might be my very favorite item from this year. For a couple reasons - ever since losing our little ones, I've been a bit obsessed with anything relating to a night sky. I think I equate Heaven to being on the other side of the stars, and while I have no idea if that is true...it is where my heart goes. Another reason is because of this sentiment. Did you ever watch An American Tail when you were growing up? Apart from Cinderella, I was obsessed with that cartoon, and this sentiment alludes to just the sweetest song in the movie. Not to mention, it is a missing you sentiment...and all of my family is in Montana. So I am drawn to missing you sentiments because I really miss my family every single day.

To start, I placed the night sky stamp into my MISTI, and inked it up with distress oxide inks in seedless preserves, black soot & blueprint sketch. I did this same technique in my post yesterday, and gave some tips on ink blending your stamps. Basically, I add the oxide inks directly to the stamp first and then use my blending tools to help soften the lines and, in essence, blend the ink together on the stamp before transferring to the white cardstock. Yesterday's card only took about 2-3 impressions. This card took more like 5 - I almost gave up because I was having a super hard time getting the black to not look splotchy. It was then I realized that my black soot ink pad had come to me a little dry {this was my first time using it}, and it just needed a little refill. So a tip to learn from my mistake - make sure your ink pad isn't dry. Lol!

With the ink blended stamping done, I spritzed the entire panel with some white shimmer spray. I made the mistake of not keeping my cardstock block completely flat until the spritz had dried...and a tiny bit ran at the top of the night sky. Friends, I am trying to embrace my mistakes, but this one still bugs me a little. But I went with it because I didn't want to redo the ink blended stamping again. Once the shimmer spray was set, I then flicked some black paint splatters to the front with my Pinkfresh Studio Licorice liquid watercolor.

While the paint splatters were drying, I diecut the stars 4 times: once from gold glitter paper and three times from white cardstock. Then I stacked & adhered those layers together with a Zig glue pen. Next I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment in white to black cardstock. I trimmed it into a strip, then cut a banner edge to the left side.

At this point it was time to start putting the card together. I mounted the stamped panel to an A2 black cardbase with foam adhesive. Then I added the sentiment strip to the right side with some foam tape. And finally I adhered the gold glitter star layers to the front with some mixed media glue. This has been one of few cards that I didn't accent with any jewels! I felt like the stars were enough for the simple design.
