Happy Monday, blog friends! I hope that you had a wonderful weekend, and have an easy Monday. I've got a busy day ahead of me, but I wanted to pop in with a trio of cards that I realized I've never shared with you! So, while I've got some Christmas cards ready that just need to be photographed...I figured I would share these cards rather than leave my blog quiet for today! They need to be shared anyways, because they are some of my favorites!
These cards focus on Fancy Floral 1 & Fancy Floral 2 background dies from Pinkfresh Studio, which are some of my favorites items from Pinkfresh. I think they are just stunning designs, and at an affordable price. They can be used for so many occasions, and I think you will reach for them time & again! I used this set of dies for a Christmas card recently, featuring the Holiday Vibes collection and it turned out so pretty! You can see that card in THIS post.
My first card today features just Fancy Floral 1, which is the wider floral design. I turned this one into a shaker card, which is a perfect use of this background die! First I blended a background using Distress Oxide inks in Worn Lipstick & Tattered Rose, then splattered it with gold paint.
While it dried, I diecut the Fancy Floral 1 background from heavyweight white cardstock, and backed it with a transparent sheet. Then I added thin foam strips all around the edge so the sequin mix couldn't escape. Then I mounted the ink blended panel to the front of an A2 card base folded from heavyweight white cardstock. I added some sequin mix to the front, then mounted the Fancy Floral 1 layer to the top of it.
Then I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment from the Floral Frame stamp set in white to gold vellum. I trimmed it down, then added a banner edge to the left side. I adhered it to the right side of the card, then accented with my signature jewels.
The next card uses just Fancy Floral 2 by itself, and I think this one might be my favorite in the trio! I started by creating an alcohol ink background on Yupo paper. I used these alcohol ink colors: Sailboat Blue, Mermaid, Pool & Gold Mixative. Once it looked how I wanted, I set it aside to dry and proceeded to diecut the Fancy Floral 2 background from gold mirror paper. I also stamped the tiny sentiment from the Pretty Paisley stamp set to white cardstock, cut it into a thin strip and added banner edges to it.
At this point it was time to put the card together. I mounted the alcohol ink background to the front of a white A2 card, then mounted the Fancy Floral 2 layer to it. I popped it up with very thin foam strips - I used a combination of Darice thin foam strips, and foam dots in the couple of places they wouldn't show through.
Next I adhered the sentiment to the front over top of a knot of gold thread, popping it up with a thin foam strip as well. Then I accented here & there with some jewels.
For my final card I layered the two background together, as they were designed to be able to do this! I started by diecutting Fancy Floral 1 from light pink shimmer paper. Then I diecut Fancy Floral 2 from gold glitter paper. Because of the properties of glitter paper, I highly recommend using your metal shim when cutting an intricate die like this one. You will be much more successful! Once cut, I adhered the two layers together with a Zig glue pen.
Then I stamped & heat embossed the sentiment from the Bloom stamp set in white & black to vellum. I trimmed it into a strip, then wrapped it around the layered Fancy Floral background, and mounted it to the front of a white A2 card base. Of course, to finish I accented with some iridescent jewels.
Well, that is what I have for you today, my friends! I will be back tomorrow with some more Christmas cards, so I would love for you to check back!
Before you move along with your day, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) And of course, I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel. My channel has been pretty quiet recently - I am right in the middle of reorganizing my entire craft area...so it is a bit disjointed. I have given myself a deadline of the end of December to get it completely finished, with my new studio area ready for video creation!! So, there will be a TON more videos in 2019. So thank you for bearing with me until then!
I hope that you have a happy Monday!
