Simon Says Stamp - Bixby Wreath Card Set

December 10, 2018

Good morning friends, and happy Monday! I took this weekend off to just spend with my family, but I did create these two cards and my cute gramma watched me quite intently. It was kind-of cool, because cardmaking is normally a pretty solitary part of my day. We have had a great couple of days with my family here....and now is the countdown of sleeps until my little brother and future sister-in-law get here....we have THREE! :)

It's Diecember at Simon Says Stamp, and I mentioned in THIS post that I would have some cards scattered throughout the month using some of the new dies. Today I am mixing some new with old, which if you've frequented my blog for awhile...is one of my favorite things to do! We invest a lot of money into our supplies, so I always love to find ways to refresh amazing products that are just a little bit older!

Today I am focusing on the Bixby Wreath die from the Diecember release, and what I love about this wreath is that it can be used any time of the year! I've used it for some Christmas cards because I am still totally in holiday mode right now...but I can't wait to use this die in other ways! I think it would be perfect for Valentine's Day, anything in the Spring & Summer....I think it would even be perfect for a fall or Thanksgiving card. SO many possibilities!

To start I cut & folded two A2 cards from Red Pepper cardstock and set aside. Then diecut the Bixby wreath from two 130 lb Cougar White cardstock blocks cut slightly smaller than an A2 card size. Then I diecut the word Christmas Blessings three times: once from gold glitter paper and twice from heavyweight white cardstock. I stacked and adhered the word layers together using a Zig glue pen, then set aside to let the adhesive set.

Next I did the stamping on each wreath block using my MISTI and the diecut words to help guide where to place the stamps, then stamped them in onyx black Versafine. I used sentiments from the Peace on Earth stamp set on both cards, and used Tiny Words Christmas to help me complete the sentiment on the first card.

At this point it was time to start putting the cards together. I adhered a block of aqua glittered paper to the front of the red card base where it would peek through the Bixby Wreath. Then I mounted the stamped panels to the front of each card using foam adhesive.

For this first card, I tied a double bow from some baker's twine and adhered it to the top of the wreath. Then I accented the middle of the bow with some gold bells that I got at my local craft store. I adhered the word Christmas with mixed media glue, placing it underneath the tiny stamped Merry.

For this card I adhered the word Blessings to the card first. Then I tied a bow from red grosgrain ribbon, and adhered it underneath the diecut word and on the wreath. I also accented the middle of this bow with some gold jingle bells.

The final step for both of these cards is accenting them here & there with my signature jewels! These cards were super simple & quick to create - which is perfect for this busy time of year. My gramma didn't get bored watching me, so I consider that a quick cardmaking session! :)

That is all I have for you today, friends! Before you move along with your day, I wanted to invite you to follow me on social media. I hang out on Instagram a lot, and share my work in progress in my stories...along with REALLY cute photos of my dogs! :) And of course, I would love for you to subscribe to my YouTube Channel. My channel has been pretty quiet recently - I am right in the middle of reorganizing my entire craft area...so it is a bit disjointed. I have given myself a deadline of the end of December to get it completely finished, with my new studio area ready for video creation!! So, there will be a TON more videos in 2019. So thank you for bearing with me until then!

You are going to see a new option up there....Facebook. I go back & forth on this a lot, but I was looking through my personal FB page the other day...and it was cards for days. It doesn't leave room for what I want my personal FB to have on it - personal photos & such. So, I have created a FB page for Lea Lawson Creates again. I would love to have you join, and be sure to subscribe to notifications so you don't miss out on anything. I would like to make the page interactive, and a way that we can actually hang out...so if you have any ideas on that, I would appreciate it!
I hope that you have a great Monday!
