CPS Blog Hop Giveaway Winner & more!

February 17, 2009

First things first....let's announce the winner of my CPS Blog Hop giveaway. It was fun reading all of your responses as to what you would do with the paper pack up for grabs. I got answers ranging from hoarding it, using it on cards & layouts, mini-albums...to even giving part of it away or sharing it with family/friends. Every single person was deserving of it. So, the random number generator picked this comment as the winner:

Happy Anniversary CPS. That SEI paper is beautiful. I have had the "dill blossoms" but am not familiar with this chocolate line..it looks gorgeous. If I were to win it, I would use to make more cards to send to friends for their birthdays, based on a great sketch of course! Thanks for the chance!

Congratulations, and please email me your address to jnllawson at bresnan.net (with the correct symbols, of course.) :)

So, I have a few things to share with you today. I got the day off yesterday for President's day....always nice to have an extra weekend day! First up is my card for Kazan's sketch #20 at the 2 Sketches 4 U blog. Super cute sketch this week....I went a little crazy cutting up this "Happy Place" paper by Sass. I had a couple scraps left with some cute images on it...so I cut those out too, and made a matching envelope! I think it is pretty cute!
I did this card for the Cardalicious #13 challenge. The challenge was to make a thank you card using felt, stitching, and the color pink. This is also somewhat of a peek at my CPS card for this week...because I used some of the paper scraps on it! ;) Lots of Basic Grey "Sugared" on this card, and felt, vintage ribbon, jewels, iron-ons....yum! This is for Caardvark's latest challenge, "We Heart You". Easy challenge to use hearts on your card. I picked this foiled paper from the SEI "Chocolat" collection (you know...the collection I just gave away!) with hearts all over it as my starting point. I like how it turned out...I think it would be great for a wedding!
Another card featuring the SEI "Chocolat" line, and a frosted cardbase by Shortcuts. They were my sponsor last week at CPS, and I really love their products. I posted a transparent cardbase and a gift card holder on Saturday...and wanted to show the frosted line too. So pretty!
And last but not least, is just a quick card I whipped up to use some Basic Grey "Two Scoops" scraps. Want to hear a funny thing about the pink twill? It used to be the drawstring in a new pair of PJ's that my mom got me for my birthday. I hate when my shirts don't sit flat over the top of PJ's, so I normally always cut out the drawstring. Just trying to do my part in reduce, REUSE, recycle. Hee hee!
So, did you have a good Valentine's day? Ours was nice and laidback. Josh humored me and watched the movie "Penelope" while he cooked dinner. Then I humored him and watched the movie "300" while we ate dinner/dessert. Josh made chicken and pasta with a white wine cream sauce, and we topped it with fresh cut tomatoes and baby spinach. I made chocolate torte in a heart shape for our dessert. Mmmm...it was so rich and decadent! We probably ate a full days worth of calories in just those two dishes...but who cares! You should get to splurge on Valentine's day.

Do want to hear the humorous part about "300" that we laughed about afterwards? During all of the bloody fight scenes...the flying blood just disappears. It doesn't hit the ground, and it definitely doesn't ever splatter on a Sparta soldier. The only time they ever got blood on them was when they died. The makers of the movie never denied the fact that the movie was pretty much all CGI...so it just adds to the humor. We also watched the clip on the workout regimine that the actors had to go through to get their bodies looking like this: Ladies and gentlemen...that is not CGI. Definitely highlighted with makeup, but I have the utmost respect for all of them that did the 6 months of workouts before starting to shoot the movie. It would have probably killed me....but then, I don't want to look like that. Hee hee! One of their exercises was to flip a heavy machinery tire over end to end for a certian length! Crazy- just plain crazy.
Well, I better get going for now. Hope you are having a good beginning of your week!
Until later,
~Lea
