Crafty Comeback Party - Day 11 - Concord & 9th + Giveaway

October 23, 2017

Good morning and happy Monday!  I hope that you had a wonderful weekend.  Ours was pretty quiet, which is always nice.

I've got a great way to start of the week, and that is with Concord & 9th!  If you guys haven't seen their latest release of holiday stamps & dies....you MUST!  It is amazing!  This company is new to me since coming back to the crafting world, and I am SO impressed.  Their stamps & dies work beautifully and the designs are fantastic!

Today I have created 3 Christmas cards with different background techniques using the Blooms Fill-In stamp set.  I combined it with the Ornamental stamp set to make them Christmas themed!!  Here is a peek at all 3!

For the first card I stamped all of it in either pigment or dye inks...and I used every fill-in possible.  I love how bold & colorful it is!  This is a stamp set that has pieces that build together to create this amazing background.  This aspect of stamping doesn't come naturally to me, so I always write down on the top of the stamp set (on the acetate sheet that the stamp design is printed on) what each piece is.  This way I'm not trying to figure out where each stamp goes in the middle of the process.

I wanted to keep the focus on the beautiful background, so I stamped a simple sentiment from the Ornamental stamp set to a paper strip, and adhered it over a knot of gold thread.

Then I accented with some beautiful jewels, and that was it!  I got these jewels from Michael's, so they won't be linked below.

For my next card, I stamped with pigment ink...and then stamped with a glue pad over top of that and covered it in ultra fine glitter.  It left the flowers open & free of glitter, so I was still able to stamp the layers into it.  This time I didn't stamp in all of the layers in order to keep a soft color palette and focus on the glitter! (Quick tip - have EVERYTHING ready when you are stamping with a glue pad.  Let's just say the first attempt I didn't have my glitter out and I couldn't find it - and I left the stamp with glue sitting on top of the paper.  It wasn't pretty.)

I diecut the word merry (which is the free with $60 diecut at Concord & 9th thru November 8th) from glitter paper and 3 times from white cardstock, then glued them together.  I then layered the sentiment to the card front on top of a knot of gold thread.

Then I accented with some pretty jewels to finish.  Once again - these are from Michael's, and not linked below.

For my last card, I decided to stamp the background to kraft cardstock with white pigment ink, and see how it turned out.  I loved the result, but did have to stamp it a few times to get it even.  (Not the stamps fault...I think I need a new white pigment ink pad.)  Thankfully I used my MISTI (SSS | EH) with all of these, so re-stamping was a breeze, and was always perfectly lined up!  I don't use my MISTI all the time because I stamp fairly well with just a clear block, but when you need to possibly be able to add more ink and re-stamp something....it is a must have!

As you can see, I stamped the flowers sparingly, but I used shimmery gold ink.  I wasn't sure if it would show up very well, so I tested a few different inks on a piece of scrap kraft cardstock....until I found the one that works perfectly!  The verdict - Delicata Golden Glitz (SSS \ EH) for the win!!

I cut the sentiment frame using the Bloom Fill-Ins dies, but used the sentiment from the Ornamental stamp set.  It stamps a little off the edges, but I actually really loved that!  It felt like a good fit for this card!  I adhered it to the front by wrapping it around the stamped background with twine before putting the card completely together.

Those are my cards for today!  I hope you love them as much as I do!  Thank you so much to Concord & 9th for being part of my crafty comeback party!
