Crafty Comeback Party - Day 6 - Taylored Expressions + Giveaway

October 16, 2017

Good morning, friends and Happy Monday!  I hope that you had a wonderful weekend!  Other than going to an overwhelmingly large, but very cool, candy store....my weekend was quiet & crafty.  I love those kind of weekends!

Today marks week 2 of my Crafty Comeback Party, and we are going to kick it off with Taylored Expressions!  I have worked with Taylor a lot in the past, and I LOVE her product!  Taylor's stamps are high quality, rubber cling mount stamps that leave BEAUTIFUL impressions.  She also designs dies that cut beautifully, and so much more!  I highly suggest checking out all her company has to offer - you won't be disappointed!

I created two cards for today, and love them!  Be sure to keep scrolling, because you will get the chance to win some of the very product that I used today!

Up first is this faith based Christmas card, featuring a galaxy watercolor background and the Nativity!  {What a monumental night that was - the night that Jesus was born unto this world.}  I'm a bit less rusty this time around, and got my galaxy background just the way I wanted it on the first go! I created this background with just a standard palette of watercolor cakes. I purposely added a moon behind the palm tree on the left side just by drying off my round #6 watercolor brush, and swishing it in a circle fashion to pick up the paint in that area.  It is a little muddy in the middle, but thankfully the palm tree covers most of it up!  I spritzed the entire galaxy background with white Heidi Swapp Color Shine to give it a shimmer as well!

I diecut the Nativity Cutting Plate from black cardstock, and mounted it to the top of the galaxy background with 3M foam tape.  {I swear by 3M foam tape.  It is the ONLY brand I use now, and I've tried them all!}  I love the added dimension that gave the card, yet it will still slip into an envelope.  I heat embossed the sentiment from the Sing of the King stamp set to a strip of turquoise colored cardstock, then cut a banner edge to it before layering to the card front.

By popping the Nativity scene with foam tape, it also allowed me to do one of my favorite things - tuck embellishments here & there so that they peek out from the scene!  These are some older Prima Marketing "Say It In Crystals" that I have in my stash, but you can substitute any round embellishments here.  Enamel dots, buttons & brads would work beautifully!

The next card up is a wintry shaker card!!  To begin, I heat embossed the Snowed In Background to white Strathmore art paper using my MISTI tool.  After that I blended the background with distress oxide inks in Lucky Clover & Peacock Feather.  This was my first time using the distress oxide inks, and everyone is right - they are amazing!! I did spritz water in my hand a few times and dripped it to the front, then pulled it up with a paper towel in order to get the cool water reaction from the inks.  I feel like the distress oxide inks react a little bit differently to water than distress inks do, but I still love the outcome!

When it was time to make the shaker, I felt like the card needed a pop of color other than the green tones that I blended together.  So, I chose to add rose gold glitter paper behind the peekaboo circle, and I LOVE how it turned out!  I kept doubting myself at first, but once it was all put together - I am really happy that I made the decision to go with it!

I used a combination of Pretty Pink Posh sequins (all linked below), combined with Little Things from Lucy's Cards jewels.  They go together beautifully!!  I didn't want to heat emboss the sentiment to the clear sheet, so I used white Staz-On ink for my sentiment instead.  I love how this ink looks on transparencies, and I always keep it fresh & in my stash for this purpose.

There you have it, friends!  I hope you like my latest creations, and as always...if you have any questions, leave them in the comments & I will for sure answer them.  :)

Taylor is also playing along with me today, and has created a card using some of the same products that I did!!  Head on over to check out her blog post, and the beautiful card she created! Thank you Taylor, not only for your support during my crafty comeback party, but for your prayers during these hard times in my life, and during my previous crafting life as well.  I LOVE working with your products - they are just amazing!

  3. These are both gorgeous but I'm especially enamored of that gorgeous night sky! And I don't do much Halloween crafting I'm afraid. No real reason except by then I'm in Christmas mode!

  4. I love the cards! The colors you chose are perfect! I'm not really looking forward to the snow. Snow just for Christmas is ok, but for the rest of the season I would be happy if the snow stayed in the mountains.

  5. Surprisingly, we do get some snow here in the northern panhandle of West Virginia. I do love seeing the soft blanket of snow on the ground reminds of growing up in Montana. Thanks for the inspiration and I'm enjoying your comeback creations!

  6. Beautiful cards! I love the galaxy sky on your lovely Nativity card, and your beautiful snowy shaker card!
I love the fall and it is my favorite season, so I am not ready to move on yet! We get very little snow here where I live, but just up the hill about 20 minutes away, they do!

  10. I love both cards and the rose gold addition with the green is just lovely! The nativity scene with the watercolored background is just beautiful! I love TE products as well and the nativity diecut has been on my wish list for quite some time. As for snow... I'm not ready for it to start falling yet as fall is my favorite season. I would love to have fall linger as long as it can before the dreaded winter freeze (and snow, ice, and subzero temps) arrives in full force.

  23. I live in Alberta and yes, we get snow and nope, not quite ready for its arrival! Once it comes, I'll be like you...watching the flakes from inside my cozy house for a bit, then bundling up to go for a walk! Your cards are stunning! Love the wintry wonderland; love the Nativity scene, which I would use to create cards for my mom to send to family and friends. Essence of Christmas conveyed beautifully...

  25. I choose to move to the snow.. and while I love it.. it terrifies me (now that I'm here I know). Driving in it, the slippery ice, the kids driving in it.. etc.. But, I do love it too :) LOVE the zombie leaning trees with so much snow on them :)

  40. Beautiful cards - LOVE the colours and sparkle!
Sadly there is no snow for me, it is a good 4 hour drive just to see "sightseeing" snow. It's usually a hot summery Christmas for us, so having a White Christmas is on my bucket list :)

  41. Different styles but both cards are beautiful!!

  42. Your cards are spectacular!!! Wow...just awesome!!! I love the way you have things tucked underneath the Nativity die cut. I need to remember that tip!

I am answering the snow question just at the deadline, so by now we have already had our first snow of the season here in Idaho.....a beautiful blanket of white several inches thick. I LOVE SNOW!! We got rain the other night so it is all melted now. :( Can't wait for another winter storm!! :)
