We are on day 7 of my crafty comeback party, and today is all about Lawn Fawn! I have known Kelly forever - since Lawn Fawn was a relatively new company. Kelly has always been generous and sincere and loving - and I credit that for what a success Lawn Fawn is today! I am so thankful that she joined along with my comeback party, and I had SO much fun creating with some of their latest goodies!
I focused on Thanksgiving for my cards today, and I LOVE how they turned out! They are centered mostly around diecutting, and seriously friends....Lawn Fawn has some of the most AMAZING dies. I think you NEED them. Lol! You have a chance to win one of 2 gift certificates, so be sure to read the full post!
For both cards, I diecut the Stitched Woodgrain background from oatmeal cardstock, and then blended Antique Linen distress oxide ink around the edges to warm it up a bit. I popped the background on both cards using 3M foam tape to give the card added dimension. For this card, I diecut all of the Large Wreath elements except the berries from glitter cardstock, and from Lawn Fawn's Perfectly Plaid 6x6 papers. The colors and patterns in these papers are so cozy, and perfect for Thanskgiving themed cards!
As you can see, there is a ton of great dimension that you can add to your card using Lawn Fawn's dies!
I layered all the wreath elements to the front of the card, and then diecut the So Thankful sentiment from glitter paper as well! I wanted to give it some rigidity, so I cut it from oatmeal cardstock 3 times as well, and then layered together. As you can see, I didn't use the full sentiment here, and just trimmed off the little bit that I didn't want.
I stamped the rest of the sentiment using the Forest Feast stamp set to a thin strip of oatmeal cardstock, then trimmed banner edges to each end. I inked the edges with Antique Linen distress oxide ink, and then added both pieces of the sentiment to the card front.
I accented the card with jewels that I have in my stash from Michael's - they are Recollections brand. These could easily be switched out with enamel dots, brads or any circular embellishment!
For my next card, I used the Large Wreath diecut set again, in addition to the Fall Tiny Tags dies! I cut the tiny tags from My Mind's Eye gold foil vellum that I had in my scrap bin, but there are so many great gold foiled vellums out there that you can surely substitute. Or, use plain vellum & heat emboss some gold dots to it yourself!!
There aren't really specific instructions for creating this type of card - I just layered all the diecut pieces together until it felt right, and then adhered them down permanently with a combination of different adhesives!
As you can see, I used the other part of the So Thankful diecut sentiment on this card! I did the same thing on this card, and added rigidity to the thin script sentiment by layering multiple cuts together.
I ran the diecut Fall Tiny Tags through my sewing machine, and added a metallic gold stitched seam to each one. This helped me give the leaves some dimension, and added rigidity as well!
And to finish, I once again just accented with some beautiful jewels in my stash!
I just love how these love themed Thanksgiving cards turned out! You will not regret adding any of these amazing Lawn Fawn products to your stash - they are go-to items that you will use time & time again!

Absolutely beautiful cards. I love the color combo. I'm thankful for something dumb today---my son is mowing the yard. Dumb, but needed badly!

Stunning cards, Lea! I love the autumnal colors you used & the gold accents work so well with the colors. I especially love the gold stitching you added. My sewing machine would give me a fit if I added metallic thread so I'm curious what thread you used.
ReplyDeleteI'm thankful for what has felt like the first real day of fall as temps were in the low 30's this AM and temps did not crack 60, even with beautiful blue skies and sunshine. Just a perfect day in my mind! :)
Hey Christy! The thread is just your typical Coats brand - it doesn't really feel or act any different from other thread! It just happens to be gold. I have a really basic Brother sewing machine that I purchased well over 10 years ago, and I've never had a problem using the gold thread in it! :) The thread is linked above if you wanted to check out the images of it!
